Our insurance company arranged a rental through Hertz at the Birch Street, Newport Beach location while our vehicle was in the body shop. (RR H41818685) Upon arrival, Crystal provided us the ONLY Tesla Model 3 that had only 19 percent battery charge, was noticeably dirty, and emitted a strong odor from the air-conditioning that obliged us to drive with the windows down. The steering wheel had a section missing, and the exterior displayed multiple scratches and dents.
The next morning we visited the Hertz branch at the Irvine Auto Center, where Omar helped us exchange the vehicle for a Tesla Model 3 in acceptable condition. We returned the first car with the battery at 65 percent and ultimately brought the replacement vehicle back to the Birch Street office seven days later, again with a higher charge level than when issued.
When I requested a receipt, I discovered a $100 line item labeled “transfer exchange fuel and service.” Neither Crystal nor Omar had mentioned any additional fees at the time of the exchange, and neither could explain the charge afterward. I also contacted Crystal’s manager, Amber Rose, who said she would investigate but has not followed up.
As a long-time Hertz customer, I was disappointed by both the vehicle’s condition and the lack of communication regarding extra fees. I recommend that renters at this location carefully inspect their car, especially Teslas, which appear to have high mileage and significant wear; and review their receipts before departing. I still have not heard from Amber, Crystal, nor Omar. Our issue has not been resolved. I will update everyone…

Was looking for a car rental next to my hotel for the week. Came and it was closed on Sunday. Not sure who car is park next to the office. They all looked jacked up and not safe to drive. Wasted my time. What kind of rental company close on Sunday??

Booked a car from Expedia and got confirmation. Then go to there has been told they don't have booked car available. If I want take a car at booked time. I need pay more. This is sick.

I've rented from this Hertz location several times and it's always been a smooth experience.
The staff is super friendly and helpful.
Theseus is great and makes everything easy. Highly recommend here

I was instructed by my insurance company to contact this Hertz location directly to coordinate my rental while my car was in the shop, but have not once been able to get through to them. They NEVER answer the phone (I have tried 5+ times at different times throughout the day, on multiple days). I have left voicemails with no response. I even called Hertz corporate and they even acknowledged they could not get through to them. I am now actively looking for alternate locations to coordinate my rental because of the simple fact that this location cannot do something as easy as pick up the phone (or return a call) to confirm my rental.

They won’t have the type of vehicle you reserved and will offer only the garbage cars they have on the lot. I reserved electric, but when I showed up, they didn’t have it. Worst rental experience ever.

Booked a rental and went to Hurtz. Right when I walked in the door. They said All rentals are not available. I explained to the guy that I had just spen $80 on a Lyft to get there and am going to be stranded without a rental and to please try to help. He said there is NOTHING he can do for me. Don’t waste you’re time going here.

When I couldn't find a car anywhere! When I say anywhere , I mean I had called 8 different places. Ben SAVED the day! He was kind, efficient and fast. From start to finish . I'm so thankful for Ben , your awesome keep being a rockstar.

I will never rent from Hertz again. I pre-paid my vehicle two months in advance but ended up canceling my vehicle due to not being able to take the trip because of a family emergency. even though I paid for the vehicle upfront in full they charged me a $100 cancellation fee and the cancellation was way over a month prior to rental. With this inflation $100 is a lot of money.

S/O to Ben, who is always helpful, precise, and professional in all parts of the rental process. He even went above and beyond when the wipers weren't properly wiping water, he fixed the issue on the spot! Really great service and this is what makes the difference.
