This is THE place to get a board in Newport Beach. Great customer service and amazing craftsmanship. Ask for the owner JP!

Went in looking for a new wetsuit and they had the perfect Reunion spring suit, not alot of selection but they had one that was perfect for me, I would have spent even more money if they had T's or hoodies or zip up hoodies but, ohh well, hint hint

I had one of their vintage surfboard from the early 70's that I wanted to learn more about. It was passed down to me by a family member. I called the shop and Jeff was incredibly kind and said to come on down and he will check it out. I brought the board down and JP (the owner) and Jeff told me all about the board I had and the amazing history of the brand. They answered all of my questions and treated me like family. I will never forget it! Their shop has beautiful boards and a very unique history and legacy. It is almost like a museum in addition to being a surf shop. Stop by and check them out, they stand out among all other shops I have visited in OC due to their knowledge, quality, awesome history, and kindness. I will be sending all of my friends their way!

Honestly, had a situation with customer service that has bugged me for years. Shop and boards are clean and respect the name but all I have to say is work a little bit more with your customers especially when they are spending hundreds of dollars.

These are my go-to guys for surfboards. Not only do they make great boards; they offer fantastic prices! The sales staff is very helpful and will walk you through the steps of ordering a custom board. The shaping and glassing is nothing less than exceptional. I would not buy a new board anywhere else.

There are only 2 true surf shops in Newport Beach and they are frog house and russel surf shop. Great guys, amazing boards and the story and history here cannot be beat. I've bought 5 boards here and love each one.

I grew up in Orange County and have always known where to go for the best service and boards. Always extremely impressed by their knowledge. JP is awesome and he will treat you right. I do not hesitate to recommend this place as your first and only stop when looking for a high qualify surfboard. Shop local and support people in your community.

This place is awesome. Mike & Elliot are great dudes who really know their stuff and wont steer you wrong. I'm serious they talked me out of buying a board that wasn't the right fit a few months back which really says alot about this shop and the guys. I've picked up a couple russell boards now and they stand out in a packed quiver, their boards have a unique old school style that can't be beat and more importantly are just fun lively boards. Their used boards are really reasonably priced and you can get smoking deals on boards that are legitimate 1 of 1 pieces of art made by hand. Don't buy a $1,000 almond when you can get a Russell that has way more style and cool history behind it for less!

I have been around Russel surfboards since i was a small lad forced into involuntary bondage by my father at the boat yard, Russel surfboards has been a constant fixture in newport beach since before i was born;having a lot of shared history and knowledge of newport. There was no place else that I wanted to consign or sell a newly acquired used russel longboard that was still a piece of wall art. Elliot and I hit it off with myself probably disgorging an adhd earful of local history and color, and was happy to have him liberate the board off me as I wanted them to have it back and on display. Mission accomplished please if you have need for a board or want to make a custom board come visit the shop you will not be disappointed.
