Our first time there. Equipment Rental process took us over an hour and a half. There weren't a lot of people in line to rent, but there was only 1 guy doing the ski boot fittings, which caused the long delay. There were a couple of chair lifts closed and we were informed by other skiers that a portion of a beginner's run we were going to do was partially closed half way down and we would have to detour on blue runs. Not knowing the run, we decided to avoid it. Despite all this we did have a great skii day. Just wish their rental process hadn't taken so long and also wish there was clear information on run closures, etc. But again, we still had a great time there, appreciate their lower pricing and we will definitely be back again!

I absolutely love this place and have so since I was five years old. A hidden gem to say the least. The prices of lift tickets are good and you can always bet on a fun filled, long day of incredible terrain. I am a proud supporter of Donner ski ranch and will continue to put money into the hands of people with deep roots in snowboarding culture.

Save your money and go elsewhere!I’ll start by saying I really wanted to like this hill. It’s a small independently owned hill, and my wife and I went on a recommendation from a ski shop in Roseville. We found out after paying $109 each for lift tickets that all the main lifts were closed, and the only open lifts were two small, short lifts, each of which went about 500 ft up the mountain. The website had indicated that a third, larger lift would be open, however this lift was closed due to weather (high winds I think?). We did 3 runs on the small lifts, which took us a total of about 20 minutes. We were really disappointed, so I went in and asked for a refund. The person at ticket sales was not in any way apologetic and refused to refund us.So after paying $218 for 20 minutes of the worst snowboarding I have ever done, we left. We drove 10 minutes away to Boreal Mountain where we paid less ($94 each) to snowboard the rest of the day at a much better mountain. We had a great time there. Honestly, Boreal seemed like was a better mountain even if Donner had opened more than two lifts.I hate to be the person who leaves a bad review, but I have been to many different ski hills in the 20 years I have been snowboarding, and I have never paid so much for such a terrible hill. I understand that they might have to close lifts due to weather, but you could tell people before they purchased tickets that none of the main lifts are open, or put up a sign, or sell discounted tickets, or I dunno, just do something at all. Honestly, it was such a rip-off that I felt like I had been scammed and I needed to warn other people about this hill. So I’m telling you now: there are lots of great ski hills in this area, save your time and money and go somewhere else. Boreal Mountain is 10 minutes away, it’s cheaper and better, just got there instead.

Great ski/ snowboarding place!I went snowboarding for the first time here, and it was an amazing experience.Me and my dad got private lessons by a very sweet, patient and kind instructor. After the first day I was able to go down intermediate trails easily. Good ski lifts, and great trail diversity. The trail rankings are from easy, intermediate, advanced and black diamond, so there's something for everyone. There's skis and snowboards for rent, as well as most necessary equipment. Its definitely not a boujee place, but if you're looking for a good, affordable time its amazing! Here is an overall rating of everything:Snacks: 3.5/5 - good snacks available for understandably high prices, i would recommend bringing your own snacks. - restaurant is essentially a bar that happens to make food. Food was pretty mediocre but - great diversity, fun trails, overall - i didnt rent so im not sure about the quality of the rentals, but seemed good. - safe lift with kind operators. Had to ask to slow down the lift so i could get off slowly as it was my first time and the operators were all sweet and understanding. - my instructor was very helpful and nice, really helped me get the hang of it quickly. Highly recommend lessons!Overall ! Overall great place, highly recommend a visit.

I wanted to say thank you and express my wholehearted appreciation for the GM Davis Bedient. It is absolutely incredibly how hard you work to orchestrate such a fine facility and make the mountain welcoming and amazing for so many people every day. You and your team are doing a fabulous job under your leadership.

Donner could use some updates. The lifts are old and lack modern safety features. The buildings are likewise. If you are a beginner, on a budget , prices are attractive, but you get what you pay for. Parking is a mess, literally, the lot is basically one big mud puddle. We still had a great time, it's hard not to when you get to go skiing.

We went there for tubing. Our family of 20 were the only ones there which was great! At first the slopes were slippery and we were tubing to the bottom of the hill. But after a while we started to stop about 1/5th of the way left to the bottom, which was a bit of a bummer. $34/person - a bit overpriced for the experience but it was the only place open for tubing at the time. However, overall, we had a great time by God's grace!

It's a great place to take your kids. A lot of easy runs and medium runs and also some more difficult runs. Plenty of room and never a lot of people. Good food too. Highly recommended

Their lift lift system for tubing doesn’t have support to hold my husband & toddler fell down when it’s moving and got hurt and bleeded badly. When they fell down it took lot of time for them to realize and to turn of the lift. It’s not safe at all and not followed any safety precautions

"Cheap" and unassuming ski hill in Tahoe. A little different among the other corporate-owned mountains around.
