This is literally the worse bank ever. I went in there and spoke to Tracy, and asked her to apply the $600 bonus for opening a brand new checking account. She was so slick and did not apply the code. She ran my credit without my authorization and it negatively affected my credit score. This is literally the worse bank. This has literally caused me so much stress! You're better off with Chase or US Bank.

Called twice to schedule an appointment to open a new account; was told on both occasions that a rep would contact me to setup an appointment. Never heard back from anyone. I would not recommend banking somewhere with so little interest in money!

The worst business banking decision ever. We signed up for a “free small business checking account” and after 9 months we get a notice saying there will be fees.Anytime you need help the customer service line requests that you visit the branch. The staff in the branch have terrific. The online service and mobile app is stuck in the year 1999. Going in the branch is so 1999 as well but as stated the staff have been good and there is hardly much or a wait. Overall, would never recommend Bank of the West unless you like old school time wasting banking and fees.

The worst bank I have ever had to deal with. We applied for a checking account online but we were unable to open it online. So, we took a day off and went to the branch to open the account. Because of my immigration status, they were unable to open the account right away but they said they will get back to us within a few days. I am a legal resident of California, just not a US citizen. I have not had a problem opening accounts in other banks.Anyway, it has now been 2 months since they told us they would get back to us within a few days. We have gone back and forth a few times and I’ve sent them any documents that they have requested within minutes. And nothing. For the past month, the branch manager, Tony, simply stopped responding to our emails and calls. We never heard anything back. At some level, I do feel discriminated against for not being a US citizen and/or being gay.Needless to say, we opened an account at a different bank.

I wished that Bank of the West would update their hours online, very disappointing when you get to the bank & find that is closed...NOT according to their website!

Excellent service, especially during this time of social distancing. Phyllis Matthew was polite, helpful and patient with my questions. Everyone is the bank seemed focused on client comfort and safety. Small bank, but I appreciated their attitudes.

This bank shorted me a quarter when I bought a roll. I know it's only a quarter, but still, they sold me fake money. Security there is also rude.

Very positive experience opening 2 new accounts. Banker Tracy Chan was welcoming, efficient, and very customer focused. She made sure I had online access even before I left the branch. Manager Tony Fariq also made me feel like a valued customer. All this in contrast to a different recent experience at Union Bank...where I closed my account after only 2 months.

I really wish there were more branches. Because, unfortunately, I have to come to this one. The tellers always seem so miserable and bothered to do their job. Since I moved to Oakland, this is the only branch within a 10 mile radius and I'm forced to have to come to this branch. SMH customer service is a struggle here.

I'd advise just getting an account with USAA, or US Bank. (Or even Chase, Citi, or Wells Fargo, if you need a BIG Bank.) But Credit Unions are always the way to go if you can do local, and don't need online services. This bank should be called, "Bank of the Fees"! Terrible service at this branch! Bank anywhere else, if you can. My wife, who had her personal and small business account here, got charged over $500 in fees just to import her own transaction data into quicken! And then there's all the other fees for stupid things (NOT insufficient funds, or anything that's her fault!). When I went in to talk to them and complain on her behalf, I had an email that she had written to authorize me to speak for her. (She hates confrontation.) But they refused to talk to me, saying that they had to talk to her. So I called her and handed them the phone. Then they said that she needed to call them. She called their number and then they said that they really only would talk to her! And I heard them say they were "busy" on the phone. I got a bit angry, and then the branch manager poked his head out and I engaged with him. Total run-around! This bank is based in France, and they charge HUGE fees. They seem totally out of touch, and couldn't care less about their US customers. I'd give 0 stars, if I could!

Whenever I go to this branch of the Bank of the West I'm certain I will find couple things: Very good customer service (5â) and difficult to park (3🌟). On the bonus side, it is open on Saturdays.

Great, personalized service at this location, especially from Tony, who personally follows up by phone if there are any issues, like when an expected direct deposit from an employer did not occur. He is patient and will explain all the details of the types of accounts you are considering. Love this branch.

The service here is awful. I usually try to avoid this branch. The manager is rude and unprofessional to say the least. I remember I asked one of the tellers for an itemized deposit statement. She told me she wasn't sure if that is possible but she would ask her managers. The manager says "we don't do that and were not changing the policy for one person" Honey!!! It was a simple question. I can tell she's tired, under paid and ready for retirement.
