My hair came out great, though it was expensive; however, I won’t be returning because I experienced micro-aggressions as a woman of color for the duration of the appointment. Offhanded comments were made by several employees about my hair, and I was passive aggressively asked to book a long hair appointment slot (and charged for one) instead of medium though my hair came to just under my chin and was a first-time client that didn’t realize any natural haircut/styling should be booked under long hair.. It is clear that the default clientele of this salon are not women of color despite this salon being located in the heart of downtown Oakland. Very disappointing as the quality of the styling didn’t overcome the rudeness, and my stylist asking others to come help comb bits of my hair like it was too much for her. Unfortunate because the location is great and potential is there!

Was Trying to get my 13-year-old daughter‘s hair colored before she starts school and was able to book the appointment. They took my credit card information with no hesitation! Then was asked to send a picture of her hair they talked about what she wanted and was it ok! The next day I was told that they Had to cancel. Seems like they are discriminating against mixed-race hair/curly hair and could not accommodate they said. Tried to say another stylist would fit better for what I was asking for. All I was asking for was root touchup and coloration of the whole head, which I confirmed in my appointment that I booked. Then when I asked if this woman who they are referring us to was available they told me she won’t be back for two weeks. Such horrible service. just defeats the purpose of making an appointment if you’re going to decline someone. Very disappointed. Do not recommend this salon if you have curly hair or of mixed race!

I got a haircut and blowout with Danielle and she is absolutely amazing! She took the time to listen to me and really understand what I wanted. I’m not a fan of short hair and she totally respected that, which I really appreciated. I’m so happy with the result! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the whole service and experience was a 10/10. I’ll definitely be coming back!

My appointment was rescheduled--for a week later--at the last moment--I was on the bus already, on my way there. When I called the salon, they claimed I had never had an appointment--although I forwarded the texts and written confirmation. The manager was rude and hung up on me--I should say that I was angry, but not abusive. Clearly, the front desk needs some coaching on customer service. I make plenty of mistakes, and when I do, I do my best to apologize and rectify them--I don't blame the person I've inconvenienced.

I’ve booked three different stylists over four appointments and each has been excellent. Very professional salon with skilled stylists. I also booked a cut for my teenage daughter with very long, thick hair and she got an excellent cut. The stylist was extremely diligent and spent a ton of time with her. I highly recommend!

Georgina does an amazing job with my curly hair. I mostly go in for color touch up and blow outs and each time I’m happy with the results. I definitely recommend.

I LOVED my experience! I haven't had my hair professionally cut in more than 15 years because I don't trust people with my curls. Susie is immensely kind and made me feel comfortable and heard. she impressed me with her talent: I told her I wanted a cut that retained my length as much as possible and I left leaving way hotter than I came in - she gave me what I didn't even know I wanted! overall, she did an excellent job and I would recommend her cado cut to people with curly hair as long as you're able to financially invest

The salon is lovely; however, it is clear that African Americans do not fit the target audience. The owner is of color, but her stylists struggle to accommodate my hair type. I was informed that they didn't have a price range for my service, so they quoted me a price of $300. It was clear they didn't want me there. I would not recommend this salon if you have hair like mine, as you may leave feeling discouraged. I will continue searching for a salon 😕

I booked a haircut with Cheri. I had been growing out my highlights for 9 months because I want to see about embracing my natural greying hair...needed the length because I knew I was going to chop as much of the old highlights off at this appointment. Cheri listened to my plan and was encouraging. I asked her opinion about another direction and she affirmed my plan and said it was a good start. Cheri is professional and seemed truly locked in on presenting her craft and skill on my haircut, so there wasn't any unnecessary banter...I liked that! I have my second appt. already booked with Cheri so I can get more old highlight chopped off and get a re-do fresh style.
