Absolutely awful. Haven't been here since before Covid and it has changed. A lot. Bartenders, doing shots. Bartender eating and blowing his nose behind the bar in full view. Service has no love & no understanding about the wine we ordered. Overall, a terrible experience. Never ever again.

Overall a really nice, cozy, but dimly lit neighborhood restaurant. With uniquely organized small plate meals. They've stood the test of time. There is a lot of variation on seating; from a community table, to small 2 and 4 tops in the 2 window front, to a patio and then to a front covid style patio on the street front. Why a 4? Possibly the dim lighting, combined with the excess noise inside.

The food, the server interest and knowledge, the out there wine list, a wonderful experience. Was then, is now.

Double check your bill before paying. It might have been an off night for the staff, but we were charged for two glasses of wine that we did not order. And, the group next to us was double charged for their entrees.Food was just okay, but I would definitely suggest being careful to make sure you are not overcharged for your meal.

Loved the service and food, very tasty and nice portions for a fine dining place. The ambience was nice and cozy but I personally hate to not see what I'm eating because of the extremely dim lighting. We literally had to use our phone's torches to see the menu. Please, fix that.

Very uninspiring meal. Food felt phoned-in. Meatball appetizer was a joke... tiny and kinda gross. Pasta and cheesecake were fine but overall this place is way past it's prime.

My friends and I met here for a long-awaited reunion dinner. We’d remembered it fondly since our Cal days. The food was really wonderful - try the steak and flatbread. The cocktails were delicious. But our server was inexplicably condescending and hostile from the jump. She frowned at our questions about the cocktail menu, at one point even sneering “You don’t know what a French 75 is?” (Should we?). As she cleared the table in front of us, she spilled a ramekin of one of the sauces all over one of my companions, and did a poor job of cleanup and apologizing.Additionally, our experience was mixed with the busser. On one hand, he made pointed comments to us during our dinner to essentially hurry up, even though there were several empty tables around us. On the other, he saw that my cocktail glass was cracked and got me another makeup drink on the house - great heads up move. When we made our complaints to the manager, she failed to make us feel like the situation with her staff would be addressed or improved. It all felt like weird passive-aggressive vibes.Too bad our experience here has ruined A Cote for us in the future. Won’t be returning.

The food is great but portion sizes are ridiculously small and difficult to share because of it. However the less than friendly hostess and waitress with an attitude are why we’d think twice before returning. It’s a shame as we have been coming to A Cote for 15 years.

Favorite Tapas and Wine/Cocktails place in the East Bay!Kid-friendliness: It's not unfriendly to kids, BUT it's really a place for grownups.

Food here comes to the table "as it is ready". Even so, mine was lukewarm but tasty.

Best ever - mussels, pomme frites, and ricotta fritters to die for - so glad they are back on the menu.
