Rampant theft continues for people stopping for gas prior to turning in their rental cars. Avoid businesses around the airport, and Oakland Airport itself, until this is addressed.

I travel through OAK approximately 15 times per year over the past 4 years. I most often use this gas station to fill up my rental car. In those 4 years I’ve experienced 1 car theft and one attempted smash and grab (I was IN the car during the smash and grab, luckily the window didn’t break when they hit it 3 times).
I will never get gas anywhere on Hegenberger going forward.

I had my window broken while I was pumping my gas and my purse was stolen from back seat! Scared the sh** out of me. Thank God I did not have my grandson in the car! I was standing right there! There was a sign saying don't leave valuables in the car. Thank God I didn't have my purse on across my body like I normally do or my throat may have been slit! DO not get gas in Oakland. Even a crowded well lit gas station isn't safe!

While the owners here are lovely people, I had that “Oakland experience” here. 6:30am Sept of 2022, robbed of all my electronics and luggage in the space of 30 seconds. Thieves driving a stolen car so that even though I got the plates, it makes no difference.Chevron owner was a champ though I worry about his safety. He has to install bulletproof glass because of how unsafe the area is! Cops could make their monthly bust quota just camped out there undercover.

Avoid this business and the area! Had the back hatch of my rental car opened while filing with gas and my luggage and back pack taken. I will say the store cooperated with police to provide security camera access.
