Was referred by 211. Was there for about a week and half. The case worker started off being inconsiderate and showed no concern for my family circumstances. Case worker was unreasonable and wouldn't consider request for reasonable accommodations for our emotional support pet given to the family, to aid in the recovery of recent traumatic experiences. We were locked out of the shelter for a day, a penalty for having our dog. Was given ultimatum to get rid of our friend, or leave. This next incident was unnecessary and uncalled for on case worker part. I had a important business matter that needed my attention. I requested for a day out pass, that is usually given for these occasions. Case worker Laura, told me to email her the request. I emailed her, expressing the immediate need for the request and it's urgency. I got a call 10 minutes later, from Laura the case worker. She says to me that the request was not approved, no exceptions. At the time, I wasn't at the shelter. I started to head toward the shelter, in fear of being locked out again. Our belongings where held in the room, for a day when we were locked out. My medication was withheld, and was important for my health. I asked Laura over the phone, if I could connect with the supervisor that disapproved my request. She refused to provide that info. We were in miscommunication, so I came to the shelter. We get to the door to the shelter. It took 10 minutes for the door to open. My 3 sons and I entered the lobby, and was refused the key to the room. We sat down, and waited for case worker. At that point for our safety, I decided to record the incident. Case worker entered the room, came over and sat next to me. I asked her again for management to intervene, to resolve the miscommunication. She looks at me with a blank stare, then later says there is no one just her. She then gets up and threatens to call the police to have my son's and I removed from the shelter. The case worker was in breach of our confidentiality, by using my family's traumatic event against us. I have PSTD, as a result of police misconduct and brutality. My son's have a known fear of being a witness to a police officer killing me, as rememberance of being racially targeted, profiled and harrased. I fell ill suddenly and went to the bathroom. I must've passed out, cause I woke to paramedics in the bathroom with me. They took vitals and I was able to function. When they left, I was given a ultimatum by police. To leave the property, without any combativeness. Then I was threatened, that should such combativeness occured that I would be removed by force. All of this was said without asking me any questions. They made my children retrieve all of our belongings from the room. My 14 year old daughter just underwent major surgery of appendix removal, with a drainage attached to her body. They case worker and staff was comfortable with watching my daughter struggle with the heavy bags, knowing her condition. The case worker was unreasonable and inconsiderate in handling our case. She showed no regard to our needs and concerns. She operated business unprofessionally, and deliberately created a situation that could've ended tragically. She abused her power of authority, by calling police in an attempt to have me harmed. She falsified statements made to the police to portray that I was aggressive and threatened her. With that, she used a fear tactic to ignite a negative response by the police to use excessive force against me with the possibility of triggers being pulled in front of my children. This case worker needs to be held accountable, for using poor judgement in her decision. She should be reprimanded. I have video of what happened, and it has been posted viral.

When they first remodeled, the prices went up but they have come back down somewhat. It's still a good place for affordable clothing and household items.
