The staff exhibited extreme rudeness, and professionalism seemed nonexistent. Long wait lines added to the frustration, while it appeared breaks were prioritized over working hours. Improvements in customer service and efficiency are crucial for a more positive experience.

This place sucks! Hella slow workers here. If every other business operated like the mentality of Longshoremen… you would see lines wrapped around neighborhoods for Gas, smoke shops, grocery stores.Their mentality is: well since I’m here for 8 hours, you too as well will be here.Don’t complain, that will just make us disappear or OR we will go to break (Always) 15 mins before break time.Kind of like a Pre Break, before our break time. Then be late (on purpose) back to work. And the Exit procedure???!?!? Even if there was only 1 truck to exit, you will be sitting there for 15, 20 mins, until the arm rail goes up! For 1 truckHorrible place

Horrible place ! Filled with employees who just do nothing but get paid to waste truck drivers time ! All employees are very inconsiderate, rude, and disrespectful. They do not care to work . SSA needs do layoffs and rehire their entire staff. Poorly managed all around !

Every truck drivers nightmare. If your looking to get out the house, and take a drive in wonder land this is the place. Just make sure you bring your Dorothy slippers, and to remember to click your heals 3 times, " there's no place like home". You will never get the right help, or find a way around.

Yet another garbage experience. Unlike PROFESSIONAL ports in Southern California SSA Oakland continues to be the most racist rude horrible experience a truck driver can experience. They literally can't speak English at the pedastals and hang up on u if you ask them to repeat themselves. And the old woman working the line for empties today needs to retire. She was worse than the old man that usually is there. Wouldn't recommend this b.s. experience unless you have to be there.

Below is an honest post. However, since that earlier time, the night clerks are no longer foul and belligerent. I complained several times, including to the corporate email and complaint line. It took nearly two years to get these clerks to be civil when responding to trucker communication. I can't understand why such a large corporation would take so long to bring people under control who offended and insulted hundreds of truckers everyday-it's beyond me. Nonetheless, there's an improvementI've met some normal people and some wonderful people while driving on the SSA grounds. However I've also met some of the lowliest most hostile people I've ever met on any job in a 40 year career. Hateful, combative and disrespectful toward the truckers as a normal standard of behavior. Inexcusable contempt as a daily standard, not an exception. A week ago a yard hostler approached my truck and asked for "a smoke". With a dirty look when I explained I'm a non-smoker, he then attempted to panhandle me for $5 and explained that he just lost his job. That's just a happenstance event just highlighting that when you enter the SSA premises you're encountering an underclass of humanity of non-professional workers that don't have any education beyond high school, I'm sure many are dropouts entirely. But the worst is the hateful bile toward people driving trucks for a living. A culture of hatred and venom and ignorance directed at the truckers. Just the solid unembellished truth. I apologize to the other select SSA workers who are actually pretty good people and sometimes quite intelligent.

Lady on intercom is very rude while checking in ,bad manner and expects you to know everything. they need to hire some else behind it. I understand that there is alot of trucks that go In and out but they should be more specific and helpful. Work is work but I am a human being talk to people with respect you'll get it right back

What is the reason behind all the unnecessary delays??? Had I been a manager, I would have fired every single person at the ssa Oakland. It feels like every lazy person is picked from the country and given a job at ssa Oakland!!!!!

Very unpredictable. Average single transaction time is probably around one hour not including time spent in line to get on the podium. If you don’t know what you’re doing and are learning the port be prepared to have an unpleasant experience. Can be extremely frustrating if you are entering the first block of the 6000 or 2000 row on a busy day. If you’re waiting to go into a block and you have a pretty good idea that your location has opened up, GO TO YOUR LOCATION because the guy behind you will probably cut in front if the clerk isn’t paying attention. Be prepared to be aggressive if the lines to an empty location are screwed up. If the empty line is stretched back to the 2000 row GO TO THE BACK don’t cut in line. DONT BLOCK the rows if you are waiting in the line. You’re not going to get there any faster if you decide to hug the truck in front of you and block the traffic. Drivers will take every opportunity to cut you in line if you aren’t aggressive. If you are waiting in a long line adjacent to the K row on a load in DO NOT get impatient and leave the line you will likely get yelled at and sent to the back of the line. Good luck in the chasis pit if there are a lot of people waiting. Longshoreman drive way too fast and don’t stop at stop signs so be very aware if you are turning or coming up on a blind corner. Don’t cut off top picks and let them do their job. Don’t go into the reefer yard if you’re not picking up or dropping, they have no problem writing you a two week ban.

People what will it take for you guys to work the way you get paid? The way you work even minimum wage people don’t work. Show some dignity. Because you aren’t any god you are a fellow human being. All the people who left good reviews here are either working here or are visitors. Come in a truck one day and you’ll hate yourselves.
