Toni is a barber I highly recommend! It's evident Toni is an experienced barber by the quality of fade. There is attention to detail and I always leave with a nice, clean fade. It's a plus that they are easy going and nice, which makes for a pleasant experience all around at People's Barber in Oakland with Toni!

This place is crap. I wanted fade and a line, got a shitty fade and no line-up. Got a trim I didn't want nor asked for. It's hard to find a good barber now adays, I'll just start cutting my own hair I guess. That's how I feel after getting a hair cut here.

Fairly certain I caught COVID here from one of the barbers. Beware. Wear a mask because most of the barbers are not.

Cal's haircuts have the smoothest fades you've ever seen. Not too difficult to get a booking with a week's notice and a great quality cut.

It's hard to find a good barber but I think I got one of the best cuts of my life from Daisy. She worked quickly, too! All of the extras (hot towel, cleaned up my split ends, etc) and I was out in record time. Fresh as a Daisy!

My partner recommended I come here so I made an appointment for my autistic sister and my mother. My sister needs someone who can be gentle, kind, and patient when cutting her hair. On this day, I was kinda frazzled so, clearly, I was in need of kindness and patience, too! Daisy had the magic. I scheduled back-to-back appts with Daisy. She was welcoming and warm from the get. We showed her pictures of the short natural styles for both my sister and my mother. The care with which Daisy cut my sister's hair was so evident; my sister was able to sit comfortably and was not agitated. My sister doesn't always sit calmly for haircuts, but she was able to do so with Daisy .Daisy worked well with my mother, too, chatting and checking in with her as she cut. Both my sister and my mother looked great! Overall, Daisy was marvelous. She listened to our requests and had great suggestions about how to best maintain the styles my family members received. Would we return to her? Yerrrrrp! Daisy gets ALL the stars! As far as the shop, it has a relaxed, easy energy. Folks who work there seemed kind to one another and to the customers who were there for services. The space was open, airy, and clean. Will recommend to others I know.

I'm only giving two stars because I used to come here (and the Polk SF location) several years ago and typically had great cuts and experiences. But yesterday I got literally the worst cut of my adult life from Rachelle. Not only did she not say a single word to me the entire time I was in the chair, she butchered my hair so bad I can barely even make it look decent no matter how I style it. The cut was listed as a 'master barber cut' - now, I'm not sure what it takes to be considered a master barber at Peoples, but I've gotten better $20 cuts than she gave. One side of my fade has hella long hair out at the top, lookin like a muppet. The other side is fine. When I push all the hair straight up, it is literally the most uneven cut ever. I've had my barbers use the texture scissors every time and this isn't the scissors, it's simply a lazy barber not cutting the hair well. My hair (styled when I came in) goes forward with a flip in front. Some reason, she thought it would be good to cut the front shorter than the rest of the hair, by like half an inch. So at best it looks like a shitty flat top. Not only that but on one side she didn't even cut it even and I have a nice spike sticking out the side a half inch longer then the rest of the front. Clearly she doesn't enjoy what she does, since she got told she had another walk-in after me and she sounded annoyed when asked 'is it that kid' and when told no, she sighed heavily like she hated her job. Maybe don't cut hair if you don't like it? Unfortunately, I had to go with her because she was the only one with an open schedule (red flag) and I scheduled last minute since I had some canceled meetings on my one day into the office this week. Thought it would be nice to go back to Peoples since I'd gone to that location for the two years I lived in Oakland/Emeryville before I moved to LA. At $60, this s*** is way over priced. Even in LA I'd get a rinse, shampoo and style afterwards for the same price or less.

The good folks at Peoples are the very best. I've had my hair cut by Toni, Valerie, and Daisy. They take great care of me and I always leave feeling amazing. They take their craft seriously but provide a relaxing atmosphere that will definitely be the highlight of your day. Make sure you see one of the folks I listed above but if they're booked, no worries, all the barbers here are top notch.

They fuckn suck. I swear to god this has to be the worse cut I've ever had. I asked for a texture crop with a low fade. EVEN SHOWED A REFERENCE PICTURE. Was cut way too short, front was jagged and unsymmetrical, the fade was a*** I can't see the back but I'm sure that's a** too. Those pictures was 5 mins after the cut so it's fresh. Way over priced for what I got and they gave me a discount too. Payed the buzz cut price which was 35 but the fuckn haircut that I got was for surely not a 35$ haircut. They also had me sitting and waiting at the hair washing station for like 10 mins while the barber was off doing idk what. Shitty a** cut but they get 1 star for the nice products. If you actually care about getting a nice cut DONT recommend. I decided to try something a little more expensive and bougie but imma just stick to the barbers in the hood tbh.
