I really tried hard to like this place. I very much want a local tobacconist where I can buy and smoke the best pipe weed. My first experience was disheartening but not bad. I just wanted to buy some rolling tobacco and the owner was curt but helpful. Second interaction was over the phone asking about what tins of tobacco they offered - it was like we were having two different conversations. "Hello, I was wondering what brands of tinned pipe tobacco you sell" ..."yes we sell pipe tobacco". And so on until I got no answer and just said thank you.I will try again to visit, and hopefully adjust my score, assuming they let you in the store and don't act like sassy 22 year old bartenders who act like saying hello and helping you out is the biggest favor and inconvenience they've ever endured. I really want a vibrant and welcoming local tobacconist store to visit rather than ordering out of state all the time.

I went to this highly rated shop with a $ 100 budget to buy some cigars for a family gathering and this was the first time in my life I've been unable to look at the selection of cigars and purchase them like a trusted grown adult. I would have been all alone in the walk in humidor. Kinda speechless.

I think to have at the door service is a terrible idea. Most other places offer a warm friendly environment which allows for a positive purchasing experience .

Do not go here.... not allowed to go inside and shop! Have to order from outside on the sidewalk!

Great shop. Kylee runs an exceptional business and has cultivated my taste in cigars and tobacco. I started at the tobaccoist and 4 years later this is the only place I go for my products. Love this place, the environment, service and community that is brought here.

Good spot for experienced smokers that know exactly what they want. Not the best spot for newbies or people looking to explore/learn. Not allowed in-store. Orders are taken from outside the door. Can't peruse the shelves. I like to support small/local businesses, but consider elsewhere if you're looking for a relaxed environment to explore/learn about cigars. Seems to be better suited for the seasoned, no non-sense cigar smokers. Side note: Good quality control of cigar storage in the shop.

Kind, helpful, knowledgeable. Hopefully one day they stop getting harassed by the neighborhood. Then they can allow patrons back inside. We all need to remember to, live and let live.

I was first introduced to this place some years ago when Steve was still with us. In our brief time together he taught me most of what I know about cigars and pipe tobacco. Now, with Kylie at the helm, my great experience continues. After smoking one type of cigar for years I changed to another. Some months after that, I wanted one of the cigars I originally smoked but was told that since I stopped buying it the cigar was removed from its inventory. NO ONE at any company has ever held on to a product just for me, and though I no longer have access to that particular cigar I am honored that Kylie provided that specialized service. I still receive nothing but top notch service from this company and I look forward to it continuing. I have tried other cigar shops when my favorite store was closed but none other come close to the professional excellent, fresh product, or consistent and reliable service found at the Piedmont Tobacconist!

I am surprised to see all of the negative reviews for this place, so I thought I'd add my two cents. I've been visiting this store on and off for 4-5 years. They always have fresh rolling tobacco and I've never felt like I was 'being done a favor' by asking for different items. Pre-pandemic I have sat and smoked inside a couple times without any drama. They are window service only right now, but I believe that is due to the behavior of some customers (threats) which made them take that decision. This seems reasonable to me. Overall, as a person of color, I haven't had any issues at the store or with the staff. If there are political differences, I've never felt that has factored into our interactions. Perhaps folks need to chill, maybe smoke one

I came to Piedmont Tobacconist to choose some new pipe tobacco for me and saw that they are serving customers only through the window. I asked about tobacco in ounces and is it possible to smell it. Lady showed me just one with a face like she is doing me a big favor. Honestly I'm not getting the main idea of service like this . If i'd like to buy something without smelling and tasting (so to say) I could do it online and 3 times cheaper! But I came to the store... I was there before and I liked it past days. But now - just great disappointment!

I don't know anything about cigars, but I have been here a few times to buy them as gifts for others and they are super helpful and nice. And the gifts always turn out to be a big hit.

I believe they have a decent selection But I'm honestly not sure You have to go to the window and Have memorized everything you may want to purchase there is no access or visual on any of the actual products If you don't know exactly what you want you're out of luck

Great customer service for a newbie like me and a lovely assortment of cigars.
