They are really nice here and with a good selection. The size of what you get for what you pay is pretty off. I think I will stick with our place in Bishop it does feel like you get more for the $$ there...my husband literally looked at me and said "that's it?" see pic though, cute place.

this place sucks lately but it's iconic. i got wet jerky. jerky should not be wet. it was gross. it's a good place for a bathroom. they have $1 water bottles. it could be so much better, i literally wanna buy it. it has shitty kids toys in the desert type backyard. that could be easily better, cheap too. also they have weird bags of candy that i think they just re-bagged from costco or something, just sell the regular bags, i don't need it handled by your hands

Food - 3.5/5; most jerky I tried was too sweet Service - 5/5; Heather was very nice and made great recs. Bathrooms - 3/5; there was barely functional components Looks on the exterior reflect the status of the restrooms. But the inside was neatly organized. Cons - bags don't zip up to preserve freshness and seal to contain content inside. Prices were rather high, competition may offer better value. At my visit to spicy/unsweet options.

Driven by here 4 or 5 times a year and finally decided to stop. Terrible, over processed, obscenely expensive jerky. $23 for 4oz!!

Overpriced do not order online. I have ordered twice first time what a nightmare. Second time 22 days later no product and no when to expect date just attitude and how she is running a multi million dollar company a military wife and a mom. Who cares we all have this in our lives we got two marines and one navy in my family. This is about Gus's beef jerky not about your life so I got a refund from her after waiting 22 days I got a pick that nothing even though it was overpriced I will never shop there again unsatisfiedX customer

It is way overpriced for and we will never ever buy it again who wants to pay $20.00 for 3 ounces when you can get more jerky for less money. Don't waste your time with them.

A great, quick stop for snacks. We got some yummy pistachios and pineapple spears. Get out, stretch your legs and get a treat

Literally highway robbery!!! Passing by one would assume they make the fresh jerky on site. All they sell is prepackaged jerky imported from elsewhere at astronomical prices. A package under 3 oz for $25??? Thats nuts!

Gus gave us a sample of cowboy jerky. It tasted good so we bought a package. It was so dry & spicy we spit it out. Yuck. Tasted nothing like the sample. Get the teriyaki. Honey sample was good but no small jars of orange honey. Price was too high.

I stopped by thinking I would get some jerky however was very hesitant to buy after seeing the outrageous prices. Nevertheless decided to try hoping this would be the best jerky ever. It was just OK basic jerky that was distributed from another company as specified on the label. Way too expensive for basic jerky.

After seeing several signs promoting this place, we decided to stop in to check it out. We will definitely not be back. Upon entering, I noticed the guy behind the counter was on his phone (scrolling, not talking). He looked up looking enough to give us a sample of their jerky and then he was back to his phone. That was my first impression. For a small little business with really high prices, I'd think the customer service would be a little more important. The only reason I could even give two stars is because the jerky was fairly tasty.

I hate being one of those people that only leaves reviews when they have something bad to say, but here it goes. For years, Gus's Jerky really was REALLY good. Teriyaki and Sweet & Sour....yumm. But on our last trip up north, I have noticed that the quality has changed significantly. Now, the jerky tastes no different than any store-bought jerky. And I have no clue what happened. On the other hand, during the same trip, I tried their pub mix and it was bomb!

It is expensive, but probably the best jerky i've ever had. I am from the east coast and have visited this place twice, 9 years apart. The Teriyaki is really wonderful and the kids enjoyed a trail mix as well.

I was so excited to come here on my 395 roadtrip and film some content to share this place and buy some great road snacks. Well I hadn’t even walked all the way in when I took my phone out to film and the girl working in the store told me no filming allowed and told me to delete my footage ? Why ? I was caught off guard but put my phone away I proceeded to look through the jerky as I still wanted to buy some and asked what were the top sellers and the girl just looked up and shrugged. I understand places not wanting to be filmed and I am ok with that but I do not understand places being rude to customers. If anything that would of been free publicity for them and it would of been a mutual benefit but ok I guess this wasn’t the place. I’m glad I didn’t buy anything it seemed dirty and overpriced for the amount of product you get. There are more local jerky places along the 395 to try.

Gus' Jerky tempted me on my way up to Mammoth but not enough to make me stop. On the return leg the billboards finally wore me down and figured making a quick detour wouldn't be that bad. To be honest, it looked abandoned and wasn't sure if the signs were just left out. The interior was pretty small and it was filled with stuff I had seen around in the past few days: honeys, nuts and of course jerky. It looked like a very small convenience store that got rid of coolers. No-frills isn't enough to describe it, it was sparse. The gentleman behind the counter just kind of stood there and gave out samples of jerky. He basically didn't say anything until another group came in and he just said 'samples' the the flavors. I ended up getting two of the small bags of original and spicy. I couldn't see myself paying that much for the larger bags. The jerky was thinly sliced, like you could see through it but still shoe leather tough. It made me enough to almost swear off those attraction billboards.
