This place is the real deal. You won't find a better boot shop - or a friendlier staff. Ski boots should be purchased from a shop like Olympic and not online. Your feet will thank you.

I've been skiing for 62 consecutive seasons in the east and the west. I taught skiing and was a member of the National Ski Patrol for 16 years. Olympic Bootworks is the best boot shop I have ever used in 62 years. Buck Brown is knowledgeable, nice and very personable. He only sells quality boots and makes sure that every one of his customers is satisfied with his results. I know that I am very satisfied with the boots and custom fitting of them that I got from Buck. My two sons were also satisfied because they bought custom fitted boots from Buck too.

Been skiing with foot pain for years but Jason and Hershel dialed me in with liners, footbeds, and a few tweaks to my shell. Skied today pain free and still had the same control as before. Couldn't be more happy!

Incredible expertise, phenomenal technology in Heel-Loc. After 45 years of skiing I didn't think anything could ever solve my boot fit problems. Boy was I wrong. Revolutionized my stance, power transfer, and stability. Dropping into Gunsight and High Greely at Alta finally became a story about skill and no longer about equipment.

Honestly, there is a reason these guys have almost all 5 star reviews. They know what they are doing and will get you into the right boot for your foot/build at the same cost as retail. They also make custom liners that will last forever. We made the mistake of going somewhere else for my daughter and would up back here. I will not go anywhere else to get my boots, or a liner.

Customer service is amazing: Buck took his time ensuring our comfort and safety. He was super patient and very knowledgeableBoots/Insoles: Best in class for both. Buck has a special way to make your insoles to optimize your edges. Broke my boots in and I feel super comfortable and confident in my abilitiesI’m an intermediate skier and this was my first time buying boots, but I went with someone who is an advanced skier and has purchased boots around the country. We both agreed that this place is the best! Many pro skiers come here as well.Tips: Go early in the morning to avoid waiting in line or make an appointment. Dog friendly shop!

This is a review from after several seasons — Spent over $800 on a pair of new boots and custom insoles. Then proceeded to spend an additional $100 more and 20+ hours off slope trying to fix them, and the next three seasons ruined because of them. Allegedly they have a guarantee but I was not offered this. YMMV.I came in over 10 times trying to adjust the boots. Each visit would be an hour at minimum, 2 hours at worst; 90% of it is waiting in line. Each time it was a new problem and I was told my skiing is the issue, or I was supposed to break them in. Maybe it is, but I couldn’t even enjoy one run in the boots without pain. Not sure how I’m supposed to improve in that scenario. Looking back I realize this was gaslighting. It sounds extreme but I nearly quit the sport altogether out of the grief and frustration from riding in the boots. It’s not a trivial investment in neither time nor money, and I put a lot of trust in the staff.Maybe I came in with too high hopes from the other reviews; my feet are difficult to fit around (bunions), but given the shop’s glorious track record and clientele I thought they could do it. These were the first real boots I’ve invested in after years of being misguided and judged against. I leave disappointed. I’ve since moved away, went back to generic boots, and consider this an expensive lesson.2 stars because sometimes the staff were in a better mood and nicer to me I guess.

I visited Olympic in South Lake during my annual family ski trip. My new boots were too tight in the fore foot, and they were also irritating my ankle bones. The guy at Olympic informed me that I'd been sold the wrong boots; he said that this brand runs too narrow for my feet, and that they are a size too large. I told him that I was ok paying to have them worked on so that I'd be able to enjoy my family vacation. He refused to help me, and said that I'd need to return them and get different boots (in the middle of my once a year ski trip). He also very clearly said it is not possible to increase the width of the forefoot, and refused to punch the ankle areas on principle. Not only was the guy condescending and unhelpful, he was clearly wrong about being able to widen the forefoot. I took the boots to a competent boot fitter in Truckee, who was able to punch both forefoot and ankle. This made the boots very tolerable though not quite perfect. Few weeks later they fitted a thicker liner which has made these the most comfortable ski boots I've owned. I absolutely cannot recommend Olympic Bootworks; other staff that work there might be great, but my experience was terrible.

My wife and I are life-long skiers. We are starting our retirement years, so that give you an idea of how long we have been at it. For most of this time, I have settled on "boots that fit" and not caring much more than that. At the start of the last season, I had the need for new boots. My "cheap" self wanted to go with the same old, same old. But my wife pushed me to go to Olympic BootWorks and give it a try. We happened to be at North Shore that season, so we went to the North Tahoe BootWorks.I totally expected a "sales pitch" to try to put me in the most expensive solution. I couldn't have been more wrong. From the instant I stepped in the place, I got the feeling that I was working with people that had a mission to improve my skiing. I was interviewed, measured, examined. I swear, it was like a thorough doctor's visit where you feel they are really looking after you. They gave me a couple of options to work with and hit the slopes. There was some small discomfort, went back to the shop, they made some adjustments and I have never skied better.By mid-season, I couldn't stop talking about how great things where, my wife decided to buy a pair at the end of the season. I wish I could remember the guys that helped us out back then, but you can't go wrong. They are all great.

These guys are awesome. I had rolled my ankle a month or two before getting fitted here, so my original fit was a little conservative-- that is, I was put in a pair of boots that was a bit too big. Unfortunately, I didn't realize this until after my first day on the hill. For various travel/schedule reasons that I won't elaborate here, I wasn't able to come back and exchange them and I ended up holding my boots for an entire year until I could see them again. The minute I walked into the store, Jason sees me and goes "hey good to see you, I still have the sticky not right here [*points toward his monitor* ]. Let's get you in a pair that fits!" He'd kept the note from our phone call for a full 13 months, and no-questions got me in a great pair of boots that fit perfectly. Class act, great gear.

I had an awesome experience here and love my boots. I had bought a pair of Technica Mach1 130 LVs in Canada and the instep was vary painful. I also had a history of packing out liners and loose heel cups.Sam said he would have put me in a Promachine or Lange due to my instep but ultimately was able to help me achieve a perfect fit with my existing boots by grinding and a small amount of punching. I got equipped with ZipFits and the Heel-loc, both of which I highly recommend. There was no upselling 2 I went in wanting better insoles and liners. They also added Booster straps I had from other boots. The outcome was a truly amazing set of boots, far better than anything I have had before. And I was not someone who was buying boots a size too big. I highly recommend this shop to all skiers.

Buying ski boots here is a no-brainer. They charge the same price as an online retailer, and you get an expert boot fitter to meticulously find the right match for you; analyzing your gait, looking at your foot shape and taking into account your skiing style. If you've never been properly fitted for boots before, the answer is yes, it is as good as everyone says it is. Skiing went from feeling like I was piloting a 20 year old minivan to a ferrari. My old boots were two sizes too big, even though they felt fine to me. My control on skis improved dramatically as soon as I got a pair of nordica pro machine 120s. The other thing that's awesome about Olympic is that they have shops in both south tahoe and in olympic valley. They will help you make adjustments free of charge, for life. If you bounce around the different tahoe mountains it is so helpful to be able to pop into their shop and get your boots adjusted right away so you can keep skiing! I had an issue with my outer shell being deformed due to some damage I had inflicted to the boot but Buck took a heat gun and fixed it for me in 15 minutes and I was back on the slopes. Super happy with how well they take care of their customers.

This place is awesome. Came in on a Sunday with no appointment and got sized in some size 30 boots (very hard to find) within in the hour. Got them heat molded, they didn’t fit quite right, so I brought them back in and got serviced again immediately. 5/5. Highly recommend.
