JMMG in Orinda has become one of the most frustrating and hostile places to seek medical care. The receptionists are often unhelpful or downright hostile when trying to schedule appointments. Its been a real struggle to schedule an initial appt w a new PCP. Had a pit in my stomach when I found out I needed to reschedule because of a work trip that came up. I called twice about this three weeks before my appt. Was told first time an appt was available in late Nov but when I called back a few days later was told an appt was no longer available until Sept 2024. The receptionist was aggressive asking repeatedly "you sure you want to cancel?" When I finally asked if she wanted me to lose my job she said "you are cancelled" and disconnected.

Whatever you do, DO NOT start working with this location. I had my doctor at this practice leave and they were not only not helpful in establishing me with a new doctor, they were actually rude to me durning the whole process. Though the doctors have all been great, the assistants and other office staff have been horrible to work with, not calling back when they say they will, giving you different information about what the process is depending on who you talk to. You would think that they would care about their patients, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Lab corps runs the lab works side of this John Muir facility that I appreciate for its small size, practicality and pleasant staff who go out of their way to make everyone feels comfortable.

Called as a new patient wanting to schedule an appointment and their receptionist was very rude. I called this number because John Muir website says this office is "taking new patients" but this apparently means taking new patients in 8 months (she said they have an appointment in January as if I would say, yes that works great, book me in). Save your time and look elsewhere. Receptionist also wasted my time taking down all my info before she gave me an option of an appointment with a different doctor in August. Just ridiculous experience overall honestly. The doctor looked nice, too bad her staff are so awful.

Over 1 hour. That's how long I was on hold with the reception to figure out if I could come in to see my primary care physician. I've been seeing Dr. Waheeda Hiller for a few years now. And I've noticed (at least over the last year or so) that it's getting increasingly more difficult to see my physician and to get any front desk person on the phone. I get that the pandemic did a number on healthcare workers. They're tired and overworked. But it's starting to affect patient care. I've had symptoms tied to a mystery condition (that no one can diagnose) for over a year. It's disheartening and frustrating to have to keep working within a medical system that is so clearly broken. I love Dr. Hiller. She's kind and attentive. But, from what I can gather, she's understaffed and (somehow) still taking on new patients. If it keeps being a struggle to get base-level care, I may have to be on the lookout for a new physician.

I’ve been a patient of John Muir for several years and I’ve had consistently negative experiences with the receptionist staff who are unfriendly and unhelpful. They will not pass on messages or return phone calls, it’s to the point where it’s worth looking for other doctor’s offices. Consider before making this your general practice.

Made an appointment with Dr. Simi for my husband and waited weeks to be seen. He was literally 8 mins late to his first appointment and they cancelled it on him. The doctor was there and refused to see him. What kind of doctor does this? No thanks - won't be going back. Find someone more compassionate.

This review is for Dr. Michelle Simi, my primary care doctor. She's wonderful; so kind, patient, and caring. I cannot recommend her enough!
