The Channel Islands Maritime Museum is a beautiful and interesting place located on the harbor, featuring a large collection of paintings and model ships. Visitors often enjoy guided tours provided by knowledgeable volunteers, who share fascinating stories about the history of ships, battles, and shipbuilding. These tours are engaging and add a special touch to the experience, making it enjoyable even for those who are not particularly interested in sailing. The museum’s artwork and handcrafted ships are well-loved, and the friendly staff and docents create a warm atmosphere. Admission is affordable, and visitors have the option to become members. Many guests highlight their tours as a highlight of their trip, with guides like Earl, Klaus, and Bill being especially praised for their informative and fun presentations. Located in a pretty marina, the museum offers a memorable experience for families and individuals alike, making it a must-see destination for anyone interested in maritime history and art.
Mr. Kushner a museum volunteer gave us a personal tour of the museum. He was careful to explain the model ships and paintings with such detail and nuance. My 6 year old son Jake later said Mr. Kushners tour was a highlight of the California trip.
