I've been training with Shane since mid June 2022. I had no experience with any free weight training. He started from the ground up with me, I've shed over 22lbs of body fat! His sessions are fun and challenging and he always mixes it up so you don't get bored. Within a 5 month period I went from not being able to deadlift anything to dead lifting over 200lbs. He has a great attitude and is a firm believer that the skills are in the drills.

Arrived on time with a friendly professional attitude. He spent xtra time teaching my teenage boys how to exercise without hurting themselves. I love that he started with the basics to correct their body form and technique. He took the time to educate them and motivate them. I love that he has a positive attitude and was uplifting with encouraging words.

Been working with Shane for two months now and my progress is amazing! I am a General surgery resident so strength is important for me but I don't have much time to get work outs in. Shane comes to my house, which is incredibly convenient. After a long day, the last thing I want to do is work out but he makes every exercise different and fun. I actually look forward to them. I've had several trainers in the past but his training puts others to shame. Now the proud owner of arm muscle definition, which I've never had before! You want to hire someone who lives the lifestyle and has achieved incredible results of their own. So happy I found Shane - he is full of positivity and encouragement. If you are looking for results and need someone who will kick your butt into gear, I highly recommend him!

I have had several personal trainers in the past and I am not exaggerating when I say that I have left feeling worse than better about my fitness goals. Shane is not just helping me physically get stronger but also helping me manage my overall stress/anxiety and making me feel comfortable in a gym setting. Shane is down to earth and so encouraging! And how could I forget Max who is so fun to be around :) If you want workouts that are simple, effective, and will kick your a** in a fun and safe environment, I recommend Shane hands down!!!!

If you ask my opinion about Shane of Mervau Fitness I will say every time he is the best trainer around hands down. I have been training with him off and on for 2 years now and there is a reason I go back every time. My friend had referred me to Mervau Fitness. Before I met Shane I had zero knowledge about weight lifting. I was always on cardio machines. I lacked confidence to even go to the weights area at the gym simply because I didn't know what I was doing. Working with Shane has helped me learn about weight lifting - correctly - not just picking up a dumbbell or using a machine and doing reps, but the quality in technique, form, learning what muscle groups are used, how various pieces of equipment's weight are distributed. He has helped me understand how weights are building blocks to other bigger movements to keep accelerating vs plateau. I've learned how to create my own circuits so I can still be effective on my own as well. I have attended private 1 on 1's as well as attended group classes and both are great. You will learn, you will sweat, you will have fun while doing it in either setting and sessions will never have the same which I love because it challenges your body. Shane's method will prove to you that you are stronger than you think and when you see for your self that you truly are stronger, whether your focus is weight loss or strength training the knowledge he has will make you want more. Shane's creativity, passion and experience cannot be found anywhere else. That is why I drive from Woodland Hills to Ventura and if for some reason I take a break, I always go back. I honestly can't say enough great things about Shane as a trainer or about the great experiences I have had over the 2 years. If you are looking for a trainer who is just as focused on your own goals as you I highly recommend Shane of Mervau Fitness.

Shane is a very knowledgeable trainer who takes time to understand what your fitness goals are and takes the time to show you how to properly execute a movement. He will challenge you and prove that you are stronger than you think you are in a positive supportive method. Shane has given me strength, knowledge and courage to push myself, try different things, to think outside the standards of what is in a gym, that all weights are not created equal and has taught me about what exercises work what muscles. I highly recommend Shane. I am forever thankful for training the last 2.5 years with him - he is simply the best in the 805 hands down!

If you are looking to get in shape or have ever had interest in fitness I highly suggest working with Shane of Mervau Fitness. I feel like I have learned more about working out with good form safely, and with more intensity than I have learned in the last 10 years trying to teach myself. Shane is great about explaining and demonstrating what exercises I should be focusing on to achieve my goals. He focuses on what will help me out as an individual and what I need to do to make my body balanced and strong. I started with high hopes, but after only 1 month of training with Shane I already far surpassed what I thought was possible in such a short time. An unexpected plus is Shane will record your lifts for you, then break your form down and let you know what you are doing right and what to improve on. Each set gets better and better. The workouts are challenging and I always walk out feeling great.

--Who is Shane?-- Besides being an olympic lifter, a veteran of the mma octagon, and decorated wrestler? The moment you step into the gym, Shane is your personal trainer and mentor.

--Who is Shane?-- Besides being an olympic lifter, a veteran of the mma octagon, and decorated wrestler? The moment you step into the gym, Shane is your personal trainer and mentor. I clearly remember the first time I saw him. After climbing up the flight of stairs to his space and putting down my gear, we start off with a physical evaluation. He asks me to do bodyweight squats in place and immediately goes to work, unassumingly tapping a few muscles and observing my form. He identifies muscular imbalances in my hamstrings, traps, and shoulders that, mind you, were already giving me problems (but that I had never mentioned or knew how to verbalize). "Have you done deadlifts? How do they feel? What about heavy squats?" And within the first 30 minutes of my session, I have at least 3 "Aha" moments and am completely blown away by his intuitive understanding of the human body. It's almost like magic. --Can you tell me about your experience so far?-- I deeply believe that the most profound growth we can experience is in the midst of discomfort -- it's a catalyst for long-term success. I go where demand is high, and the expectation is to perform. This is what Shane brings to the table, and he isn't for everyone. He will push you to your physical limits. That extra pull. The next five swings. The final minute-and-a-half of slams. But what's even more mind-boggling is how consistently he can do it and how he is more tuned into your own body than you are. There have been days where I felt like absolute crap because of the Thanksgiving binge, the exhaustively stressful day at work, or family problems. Shane will sense that (sometimes without you even noticing) and re-tailor the session to keep the bar right at your physical ceiling, but without being unnecessarily overwhelming. --Would you recommend him?-- Are you serious? Get off of Yelp and get on the phone with him. Right now. In fact, if you sign up, I'm sure we'll meet in person. I've seen him 3 times a week for the past 6 months and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Cheers, Jeremy

I have known Shane for many years but never trained with him, he taught me a lot in just the first session. He taught me that you can work different muscles with very little equipment just depending on the angle. He pushed me to understand my body but is not one of the over bearing trainers you often see. He cares about his clients a lot or as he says his family. he is very knowledgeable on the human anatomy and loves what he does, that's hard to find. Sometimes you find trainers that are just there for the job or the money, not Shane. He loves what he does and loves his family that he trains. He helps out anyone and everyone doesn't matter who, he just wants to help. I'm glad that I'm training with him and can't wait to see the end results.

One can hire a person to stand over you & give you a workout or even a grueling workout but if you are not taught proper technique then what is the point as you will never be able to do anything on your own. It was imperative that I find someone that understands this principle & Shane has exceeded my expectations. Shane has a passion for training, you can feel it. He is not just going through the motions. He also is not a cookie-cutter instructor as he caters to each persons body, condition & abilities. He also is not a clock watcher. He freakin' regularly goes well past an hour as he wants closure & wants to know we accomplished all we needed to do for that day. Is he the cheapest? Nope! Is he worth every dime? ABSOLUTELY!!!! I'm with him for results, not to just say I have a personal trainer.
