We love this BW when we go to Monterey. It’s in Pacific Grove. It is a smaller BW. Rooms are bigger, quieter, very clean and a decent breakfast. Our go to when we visit.

i want to give a shout out to michael at the front desk for saving my trip! i last minute had to find a place to stay due to my other room flooding last minute at another hotel and there was no other rooms available. he was able to get me a KING suite and accommodate me with the price of what i paid for my other place!! he was able to get me in last minute and made all of my worries and frustration go away. i was very happy with his service as for the room, excellent! beautiful king suite with a full kitchen, sofa and king size bed with a working fireplace, it worked out so perfect for my valentine getaway trip. everything with very clean and i had no issues at all. woke up next morning to the continental breakfast that was delicious!! will stay here again for sure! dont let the other reviews scare you away

One of the worst experiences of my life. We arrived and the rooms were not ready, when we returned, because we went to eat something, they told us that it is only one room that we have when we had booked 2. They quickly offered to refund our money, but only for one and of course I had to protest. In the end our agency changed our hotel, but they are certainly unpresentable. I will never go back in my life, but please be careful because I think it is common.

Monterey has a variety of hotels but when needing some quiet and calm surroundings I like this location best. Rooms are up to date and modern. Garage for your vehicle. Continental breakfast for a quick bite before hitting the sites that Monterey has to offer. Early mornings in the spring you can see the fog from the hills and the deer come down to graze. Staff greet you with a warm smile and are welcoming.Nearby activities: Quick drive to the water and cannery roe area also close to lovers point. A great spot to sit and watch the waves. Restaurants and shopping just an Uber drive away.Safety: Never had a problem with parking or with any types of break ins. Garage for vehicles.Food & drinks: Continental breakfast is great for a small sit down in the outside area or for taking to the room and enjoying the warmth of the bed. Also includes food item choices for on the road if time is of the essence.

We found the room to be better than most affordable hotels. The location was great for us. The service was outstanding.Rooms: Clean and well maintained.Nearby activities: The butterfly sanctuary is close. The ocean is nearby, of course. Monterey is a few minutes away by car.Safety: The paving stones throughout are a nice touch. However, they create a tripping hazard for people using walkers and canes.

DO NOT STAY WITH ANY DISABILIT. Horrible. I arrived to find my room was on the third floor and there was no handicap accessibility. I cannot go upstairs and there's no elevator. I was moved to a first floor room, still a flight of stairs and stairs IN the room as well. I could not manage. The manager did not care, said I should have known from photos there was no elevator!!!!! Ridiculous. Mananger was rude, mean and had no understanding of a handicap. I wish there was a rating below 1 star

We heard everything through the walls in our bottom floor room. This might have been the worst wall-sound experience we’ve had at Best Western. We even heard the plumbing when the person upstairs & next to us filled the bathtub or started the shower. It was loud. When in our bathroom, I could hear the neighbor's conversation, word-for-word. The person upstairs was getting in his steps for the day starting at 10:30 PM, which went on for 45 minutes. After a short break, he started another 20-minutes more of continuous walking. Again, the thin walls didn’t help this situation. We didn’t understand why the small refrigerator buzzed & vibrated so much & so loud. That’s because a rock was holding up the shelf that the microwave was on (see picture). We tried to remove the rock and the shelf collapsed. The front desk wasn’t rude, but I wasn’t acknowledged when I arrived. I had to state that I had a reservation before he started saying/doing anything. Just not very personable at all.A few positives about the place. Being that it’s located in a quiet residential area, there’s zero traffic noise at night. The bed was comfortable (although the cover/fitted sheet was too short and would untuck and then bunch up during the night).Since the hotel can’t fix the thin wall situation, which is a no-go for us, they need to replace the broken fridge/microwave stand. They need to get a bigger cover sheet. They need to find front desk individuals who are willing to welcome people who are spending their money to stay at the hotel, which in turn, gives them a paycheck. We won’t be back since there are many other hotels to choose from in the area.

Front desk person was bad when we checked in, and worse when I had a problem with my bill 2 days later. I had to spend the better part of 3 hrs trying to resolve an overpricing problem with my credit card company because according to BWPG they could not issue a credit to my card for over billiing me. Enough of an issue for me to never return to this hotel. This person needs some schooling in the hospitality industry. Plenty of hotels to pick from in PG, don`t choose the Best Western. Terry G.

This place is a converted condominium complex, it is located in a deeply wooded neighborhood that is NOT within walking distance from coffee shop, grocery store, etc...It does NOT have elevators or air conditioning. There are 3 floors. If you have knee or back problems this is not the place for you. There are deer everywhere, so be careful driving.

Our room was 82 degrees throughout the stay and they do not have air conditioning. Staff was very rude and told me to call expedia for any issues. Expedia gave us a refund for 1 night because of the issue but the hotel ended up kicking us out a day early because they apparently double booked the room thinking we wanted to leave early since they refunded us for 1 days (we never told them we wanted to leave early and Expedia confirmed this). They were supposed to help us find another hotel nearby that could take us in but they never called me back and we were forced to end our vacation a day early since we had no where to stay. Then on the last day, we went to get breakfast at 930, then when I came back to my room at 10 there were cleaners in there who took my babies milk out of the fridge, had it in a garbage bag and had moved our other stuff near the front door. Checkout was at 11 but I ended up having to leave the room at 10 since the cleaner continued cleaning even after I sat down to feed my daughter. I had a do not disturb sign on the door, there should have been no cleaner in our room until 11. Overall, horrible experience.

This was by far the worst experience we've had staying at a hotel. We are not ones to ever write a negative review or complain about any of our stays. However the level of customer service that was given to us at this particular hotel was terrible. We arrived at this best western in Pacific Grove for a wedding on Thursday 10/5. Everything looked great, the room was spacious enough for us to be able to fit our pack & play and our 1 year old daughter was able to have enough space to walk around. It was also nice that they had a kitchen for warming up baby bottles/food. But the rooms are definitely outdated and the first night we were met with no AC and a room that was well over 85 degrees. We had a ceiling fan that was circulating hot air and opening the windows did not seem to make a difference. We called the front office and asked if they had AC to which they rudely replied no and proceeded to state it wasn't environmentally friendly and its not typically this hot and told us to just open a window. We just went about our night. However, the following day was even worse, our baby was starting to get worn down because of the heat and the room faced a direction that was right in the sun so that room was unbearably hot and unsafe to stay in with a baby! We called the front office again and asked if they had any portable ac to which again they rudely replied no. It got to the point where we couldn't stay in the room. My husband who works remote needed to spend the time in there to work but could not because of the heat and due to this, he had to take time off of work so we could get our baby out of the hotel. Frustrated, we called the front office to ask for a refund for the day and proceeded to tell them this was because we could not stay in the room until it cooled off (which according to the weather forecast was later that night). They told us there was nothing they could do and to call hotels.com who we booked through for any credits. So we called hotels.com who gladly provided us for a 1 day refund for our first night due to the issue. They offered to try and find us a different hotel, but because the weather was going to be cooler on our last two nights, we told them it was okay (what a regret). Everything seemed fine until best western calls us 8 hours later and asks if we are checking out the following day. We told them no, and this was not something we ever discussed. They proceeded to rudely say there was no way they were giving us a free night and that we needed to check out. So we called hotels.com again, who stated they never told best western that we were checking out early. It was a nightmare fight back and forth to which best western decided they wanted to make our room available on the day of the wedding and stated that they already booked it to someone else and we had to leave a day early. So basically they double booked our room and told us we needed to leave even though we reiterated that we did not want to check out and we had nowhere to go because all the rooms were booked by that time. Ultimately, we had to check out of the room and find somewhere else to go last minute on the day we had to be at the wedding. This was on Saturday 10/7, and we were due to check out Sunday 10/8. On the day we had to check out, we had to move most of our stuff into the car and I had to run to be with the bridal party as i was part of the wedding. We took off at about 930. Check out time was at 11 so we figured we were okay. My husband came back to the room at 10 to feed our baby and move the rest of our items only to find a cleaner who was in the room already cleaning up and had the rest of our belongings outside the hotel room in trash bags. This was the absolute last blow to our stay. To have someone come into your room and mess with your belongings knowing we were still there, is NOT okay. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. As stated in other reviews, they do not care about their guests. To Best Western Pacific Grove, learn to have some customer service and maybe train your people to be more

This Best Western in Pacific Grove, California was converted from a being a small condo complex. The hotel is divided into small sections of two or three units, with accompanying carports. This is in the middle of a forested residential neighborhood. Our room opened up from the balcony into 4 Monterey Pine Trees, and we were almost at the top of the trees. There was all kinds of wildlife outside, from crows to bluejays, squirrels, possums, and lots and lots of deer. I felt like I was in a Disney animated movie. There is a dirt walking trail behind the motel that people use all day long, so you don't have as much privacy as you might think you'd get. And also since it is in a residential area there was a residence that had a person working on a grinder and table saw all day long making noise. In addition when you open up the balcony to get air into the room you can hear all of the nearby schools bells going off all day and at night on Friday night I could hear the football game clearly and all the noise from the cheering crowd. This kept me up when I was trying to nap. There were 2 dirty chairs and a small table, a desk and work chair, and nightstands with bedside lamps with stained lampshades. The ceiling is made of wood beams and highly elevated. There was an odd storage area or ledge of some sort that someone could easily hide in. I strangely felt like I was being stared at all night from this area for some reason. It was just a creepy view. Being that this motel was converted from a condo complex the room was set up very strangely. There is a room off to the side that I thought was a closet but it had a microwave, a non-functioning mini refrigerator and a safe, ironing board, iron, and a roll away bed in it. It also had a weird storage area/ledge in it too. Past that the toilet area was really a joke. The toilet was put into what looked like had been a tiny closet and had a door that almost hit the toilet if you tried to close it. We just kept it open as it was so cramped and we barely fit in the little area. The shower itself was pretty large but had no assistance handlebars anywhere and no non slip texturing. The drain was slow to drain and we ended up with a pool of water every day after showering. Also twice on two different days while showering, the water pressure went down so low that the water almost cut off. I was covered in soap and shampoo and was afraid that I wouldn't be able to rinse off. When we checked in and climbed the stairs and entered this room it was freezing and the reason it was so cold is that the low that night was 58 degrees and our room's balcony sliding glass patio door was completely open. It was pitch black outside and creepy. We immediately closed the door and closed the drapes. In the morning upon opening the drapes we saw that we were located right next to about 4 immense Monterey Pine trees. We are literally in a forest or the woods! It was so cloudy and dismal that the room was dark. We had to turn on all the lamps and lights just to see in the daytime. And after sleeping all night in this room and waking up with a sore throat I understood why the glass door was wide open. They were trying to air out the musty and stinky room! The room smells like mold and mildew. I am sensitive to mold smells and felt awful whenever I stayed in the room and in the morning after waking up. Whenever we left the room and went out somewhere else my throat stopped aching. It just smelled so musty and bad, it seemed to eminate from behind the headboard or behind my nightstand. This place has a maximum rate they can charge is $3000 a night! Also, I have bad knees and they put us up on the 3rd floor and this motel has no elevator so every time we had to leave my knees would be burning from walking up and down 3 flights of stairs. On top of this they have succulents growing next to the stairs and the long flowering vines smack you in the face as you walk up the staircase. When we were finally checking out on the last day we saw an elderly couple moving their belongings to another room. Th

I love the privacy - and you can get a full suite with 2 bedrooms, with doors on the rooms for privacy - when traveling with your kids. And the balcony is a great way to start your morning.
