Borg's is a very basic Motel. But, the rooms are clean, the service is great, & the location can't be beat! We stay here when we are in the area & always have a great stay.

Our visit was fantastic celebrating our 40th Anniversary. Clean but not fancy. But the view is beautiful. We enjoyed sitting out in front of our room having a glass of wine and watching the waves hit against the rocks. absolutely gorgeous. I suggest the top floor you have ocean view from every direction. We love to walk, so we walk everywhere. Cannery Row.and to a nice place to eat call The Awakening for breakfast. Customer service is great very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend if you are practical people and don't need fancy. BUT THE VIEW IS WORTH IT ALL.

It was quite expensive for an average and older motel room. The location cannot be beat and somewhat justifies the price, although the front rooms with ocean views are quite noisy with traffic busier than expected. Also, what I assumed was a private balcony was actually the outside hallway. The room was clean and the mattress was comfortable. Having no fridge and a fixed shower head was inconvenient. The main issue was the wall heater. Even when off, it was making a constant noise, like your next-door neighbor is taking a non-stop shower through the night.Walkability: Walk to restaurants, the beach, and downtown.

I have been all over the world and stayed at 500 dollar a night resorts that didn't offer me the spectacular views of the ocean like this place. Uber eats delivers. No fridge, no microwave. No coffee machine. BUT THE VIEW WORTH EVERY PENNY! Going back for sure!Nearby activities: The park and beach are literally across the street. I have mobility issues and I made it down a short stone staircase to the shoreline.Walkability: Tons of walking folks all day, so that means great walkability to me.

We were driving back from fishing all day and came across Borgs hotel and stopped in to check rates. I really wanted a ocean veiw but my husbands tight wallet wouldn’t fold That direction. No problem she gave us something better… two chairs on the balcony in front of the room not rented out so we could wake up and see the ocean! What a wonderful service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The staff were beyond nice and the rooms were small but clean with clean bathrooms! We really enjoyed the staff who helped to make our stay feel welcomed. It was nice to sit out and watch the ocean and people. I would definitely come here again! Thank you for the pleasant stay and service

Borg's Ocean Front Motel, is a 5 star Motel in my life, but not 5 star in the 5 star motel world. Allow me to explain. The fifth star is missing here simply because it is an old building, but the charm makes it a 5 star, personally. My wife and I make a yearly trip to "The Borg's", as we like to call it, for our wedding anniversary. We will also make random trips there throughout the year. Location location location! The Borg's sits on an ocean frontage road and the views are stunning . In geographic layout you have the ocean, rocks/beach, walking paths, 2 lane street and the Borg's...it's right there. We prefer to stay on the second floor so our view never gets obstructed. We love to sit on the balcony and drink our morning coffee, watch the sea life wake up as otters, seals and other aquatic animals play. Kayakers cruise through the kelp beds as fishing boats and whale watching vessels can be seen out in the distance. I have had opportunities to feed seagulls and black birds out of my hand as they land on the balcony rail. Lover point activities, bike rentals, restaurants, surfboard and wetsuit rentals are all within a 5 minute walk of the motel, but they are out of view from The Borg's. All the wonders of Pacific Grove and Monterey are a short bike or car ride away.We love "The Borg's". I will follow up with some pictures at a later date. The rooms are simple, and spotless clean!

For beachfront it's a decent price but seriously needs to be upgraded. Room 153 needs the carpet deep cleaned, the room wasn't dusty but i could stop sneezing in the room. Furniture was banged and bashed, front door was cracking at the bottom. Things like the TV directory and walls were dirty, yet oddly the TV remote was in a bag. The bathroom was overall clean but the toilet seat needs to be replaced. My sheets and bed were clean but still inspected everything for bedbugs and thankfully found no trace. The mattress was lumpy and the pillows were flat. The safety tag on the door from McGruff The Crime Dog from 1995. Deadbolt but no peephole or security latch on the door. Great location for the price but needs basic updates and upgrades.

We booked a room for our family for a week. Unfortunately, we had a family emergency and had to cut it short but they were great working with us to make adjustments. We used to live in Monterey and come back regularly since we moved away. Trust me, this is a great place to say. The location is incredible and very affordable and the staff is very friendly. Steve greeted us and helped us get settled including showing us where to store our bikes. Elvira, the room staff was very kind and welcoming. When we are able to come back we will certainly look here first for availability.

The Borg Ocean Front Motel has the best location for the price. The rooms are simple and clean. We liked that it has a walk in closet that gets the suitcases out of the way.We only had to walk across the street to be on a beach with the best tide pools I have ever seen, and I grew up in southern California. We were within walking distance of restaurants, shops, the aquarium and other sights. For an economical place to stay in the Monterey area, this was a great choice.

We love this place. Always the same price during summer. It's an old outdated little place buy the location and views can't be any better. It is super old school here and it makes even even better. Parking is so easy, and free too!

I can't believe you get to be in the most perfect location for this price per room. The rooms are bare bones, but it does not matter 'cause you shouldn't be stuck in your room anyway if you're in Pacific Grove/Monterey. It sure would be nice if these rooms had a refrigerator though. I would pay more to have one.

There are no microwaves, refrigerators or AC in the rooms, which is pretty standard for the coast. The folks at the front desk were super nice. There is coffee, tea and hot chocolate served in the mornings. The rooms are pretty spacious and there are two partitions on the window that slide open so you can hear the ocean wonderfully, which is actually just steps away. The eater gets nice and hot and there is good shower pressure. Ice machine is located at the back of the building. The bed wasn't as firm as we would have liked, but that is my only complaint.Just be aware you're on a busy street, so you will have car and pedestrian traffic during peak times. At night, it's was wonderfully peaceful, except for an occasional car. We did have one car that squealed tires late in the night, but that was probably a random incident.Noteworthy details: Just about a half a block from Lover's point Beach. Right across the street is a place where you can climb down a set of steps right to a little secluded, rocky beach.
