Worst Aveda store I have ever shopped at! Can’t believe I actually bought merchandise from them, but I was running low so I made my purchases and left. No special offers, no free sample size of anything, they just wanted my credit card and to get me out of there. Ugh! Just pitiful. I’m never going back there.

What started out as an awful experience turned out to be wonderful in the end. I went to the Aveda experience salon on El Paseo thinking that all stylists would be wonderful, friendly, and professional. Unfortunately, the stylist I had got the same day appointment with seemed annoyed from the moment I met him to the time that I left the salon. You would think as a first time client that a stylist would be friendly and chatty, but that was not the case with this stylist at all. He was the complete opposite, Angry, annoyed, and just feeling as though he didn't want to be there. He barely spoke to me at all. I started out as a blonde, requesting only my roots to be done and felt as though I was coming out as a red head. There was obviously a clear miscommunication and I was extremely unhappy to say the very least. The stylist became quite annoyed that I was unhappy with the finished product, but then begrudgingly redid my hair in an attempt to make it as I had requested. Again, unfortunately, I was still very unhappy with the outcome and color, and felt darker than I had gone in with. The next morning I called the manager and told him what happened. Dylan, the manager, was so kind and invited me back in to Aveda to make sure I was happy, and that I got exactly what I wanted at no extra cost. I went to the LaQuinta location, and under the expertise of Michele, Manny did the perfect job of making me back to the blonde I wanted in the first place. He was patient, kind and extremely professional. He checked several times to make sure that all was good and that the color was going to be perfect. I would highly recommend Manny for a color treatment or any blowout, whether it be for an evening out or just feeling pretty at home. Thank you so much Dylan for fixing this problem and turning such a bad experience into something very good.

Jackie Ramirez Master Stylist/Esthetician/ Makeup Artist/Manicurist is wonderful. She took my appt short notice, and did a wonderful job of bringing my hair color back to what I wanted and helped repair the damaged parts. I can't say enough nice things about her. She's very sweet and very knowledgeable. I've just arrived in the desert and so happy I found her.

I always wanted to get highlights but was also afraid of not having it done by a professional. Jackie, a master stylist, helped ease the process for me and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. The atmosphere of this salon is just so welcoming and that's thanks to the great staff they have. If you are in need of a professional, Aveda has them.

Isaiah did my hair and Jackie did my makeup for my wedding and they were incredible- I cannot thank them enough!!! Everyone commented non-stop on how beautiful the work they did was! They listened carefully to what I wanted and made me feel so pampered and special on my wedding! Thank you Isaiah and Jackie!!!!

Worst haircut I have ever gotten. She cut it way too short and did not understand my multiple attempts to explain a simple basic cut. I travel for business internationally and have gotten my hair done at some great places. I usually go to a terrific salon a couple doors away, but they were booked up. The girl who came with me that day has been a professional entertainment industry make up artist for over 20 years. She overheard my stylist and said she sounded like someone who had graduated from beauty school a month ago. I think Supercuts could do a better job for a third of the price. Look at older reviews in their La Quinta salon, many were one and two stars. This stylist was no where near as good and gifted as you need to be in order to charge those prices... please be ware!!

This is probably the most costly partial highlights and trim I have ever gotten. I don't mind paying 300 dollars but I was very unhappy with the color and will be going elsewhere to fix it. The trim was fine but I didn't get what I wanted. I felt like it was a big waste of money. The partial highlights looks like two skunk strips reminds me of early 90s style. I wanted a balayage but the girl said my hair has color in it already and that wasn't possible and I needed to grow it out. So I ended up paying a lot of money for something I didn't want and will be paying more to fix it when I head back to Sf. Which is too bad. The salon is clean and nice. Staff was friendly.

Honestly so mixed about this review. All of the employees that had helped me out were so sweet, but all of the products I had tried didn't end up working, sadly. 5* because the exchange process was straightforward & for the customer service ?If you have any questions/curiosities about the product line, I would 100% suggest to go in and ask.

Since Covid hit last year, my hair has gone from straight glossy blonde to wispy curly. I already knew Alankara's high standards of quality products and stylists so I called their Palm Desert salon on El Paseo. Just my luck I got an appointment with Isaiah and OMG! He took my mop and transformed it back to the hair I used to have. And more! A style I've not previously worn but absolutely love. And so does my husband. Thank you, Isaiah. I will be back.

Spoiler alert: I am now a brunette. My husband who had loved having a blond wife for the past 29 years is delighted with his new wife. I look amazing!! Desperate for a hair renewal after my long time stylist decamped for Scottsdale, I used Yelp reviews to choose Alankara. I explained my goals and the gentleman manning the phones set me up with Monica, a senior stylist. Monica examined my hair, color and texture (damaged!) and went to work. I let her do her job and offers little input. To my surprise, I departed as a brunette with red highlights. I'd never considered this color. But it looks great! My color and cut is fabulous, my texture is restored. I'm a 3 times a week (plus) 64 year swimmer. So I regularly destroy my hair. Monica turned me into a new woman. I'm thrilled. Only problem? I live in Seattle, I am only in Palm Desert occasionally. How will I manage this great look going forward?? Ah the challenge. Thanks Monica!!

Fantastic service especially during COVID! I was nervous about going anywhere and put off getting rid of my "sparkles" (grey hair!) for months. April was patient, conscientious and always told me what the plan was so I could agree or modify. Definitely recommend.
