Luckily the two RUDE sales people saved me from even thinking about wasting my money on their cheaply made, over-priced clothing. Since the pandemic started, I haven't shopped in a clothing store and now that things are getting a little better I decided it was time to step out and spend some money. Walking into the J. McLaughlin store in Palm Desert, I noticed one other customer and two sales people behind the counter. Despite not being greeted when I entered the store, I wandered the store and found a few items to try on. I noticed the dress I picked up was made from thin, flimsy cotton. It had no starch or sizing to the fabric and it looked like it hadn't even been steamed - just hung on a hanger with a $208 price tag. Pretty steep for cheap, cotton fabric but what the heck - my credit card was ready for action. I roamed a bit more, found a few more dresses and a grossly over-priced tee ($168 for a cotton/spandex tee shirt??) and a few blouses. Sometimes I'm a s***** and I buy stupidly priced things, so I'm still committed at this point. After circling the store, I look for a dressing room to try on these highway robbery items. One door looked like a storeroom, so I went through another doorway. It looked like dressing rooms, but all the lights were off. Perhaps this store doesn't want me to try on their cheaply made clothing? I went back to the showroom to see if I could get some lights turned on and this is where the two women working here did me a solid!! Not only did they completely ignore me - as in I could have had a heart attack and they wouldn't have noticed - but neither one of them were wearing a face mask. My decision was SO easy!! I'll spend money if the staff is rude, but I will NOT EVER spend money at a retail location where the staff so blatantly disregards any type of safety consideration for their customers!!! So thanks, you snotty retail clerks!! You saved me about a grand today.
