After driving 8 hours and needing to use a restroom before checking into a hotel room for the evening, I stopped in at the library, albeit a few minutes before they were closing. I asked to use the restroom at 5:58 and several employees looked at me like I had two heads. One employee said it was already locked, I asked kindly if I could please use it. The employee with the keys to the restroom wagged his finger in my face and said “nuh uh.” Lol, first impression of Palm Springs and a public library no doubt. It would have taken one extra step to let me relieve myself and within the time frame of the library’s hours, even if it was one minute. What happened to grace? Californian spirit? Taking care? Anyway, happy reading.

It's noisy here, The employees talk real loud, laughing in their break rooms, like if they were high on some drugs! Libraries are supposed to be noiseless!! Not loud and annoying!

This Bill Cody designed masterpiece is one of the loveliest library's I have ever had the pleasure of being a member. The building is majestically tuned to the environment. The coy pond is spectator. But most importantly, it is staffed and run by a caring and friend group of people.Check out is self check out. And sure, you have to unlock dvd cases and such. Just ask someone if it's your first time. Book return is also automatic, there is a station outside the front door. The card catalogue is online, you can search and request books pulled from the comfort of your home or in the library itself. Additionally, they send regular emails telling you what is due and what they have automatically renewed for you. This is an amazing Palm Springs resource.

The staff at the Palm Springs Public Library are always warm and inviting to their guests and also most informative and helpful when looking for that one specific book. Definitely highly recommend!

This is a nice library and has great resources. With that being said, it appears the staff mico-manages their patrons. Sitting in the wrong spot (with no signage indicating otherwise)? They ask you to move. Speaking too loudly? They ask you to leave. Just some things I've observed over the last few days.

Library was a great help.. I wish the police would do something about the homeless hassling the visitors. I may think twice before coming back.Antonio Dominguez

They offer cards to any California resident but force you to come in person to renew the card. This makes zero sense and is very frustrating. The policy to allow cards to all California residents is to allow access to resources regardless of zip code but apparently, they have found a way around that

It has been some time since I have been to the Palm Springs Library. The building is beautiful but I found most of the staff egregious and not helpful. I hope they have improved but I gave up and I found the Rancho mirage Library to be far better. The Palm Springs Library is the worce Library I have been to and I have been all over.

This little library is packed with surprises. Located near a park, this is the second time I have visited when I come to town. They change decor to show current interests and programs. Clearly it is the holidays this time. Last time I was here there were a lot of Star Wars stand ups for a kids program they just completed. Sad I missed that.Okay, so let me say it here. There is a Koi fish pond in the middle of the library. This is in the main stacks area. Love that there are chairs around it so one can enjoy the light sound of the water circulating while watching or reading one's book. How cool is that?!Check out their website to see the many programs they have going. They even have several book clubs that are in person and some if zoom if that works better for you.ENJOY perusing the collection in the stacks!

The library is incredibly helpful and can be an asset to the community. If I were to have any notations and as I'm making them obviously do, the library has been zoned or tagged as a cooling and warming center.. however the security guards take their jobs far too far.I understand the necessity to make sure people are not utilizing drugs or in other ways abusing the opportunity that Palm Springs has given the community by allowing us to utilize the library. But it is ridiculous to ask patrons to leave because they have blinked longer than a second and a half and security guards out of boredom and lack of a better job have taken upon themselves to power Trip on the poor people that are actually just in there trying to read and relax and utilize the facilities for what they're for.I myself as well as my fiance have been asked to leave based on the fact that under their expert tutelage we were sleeping in the library when in fact I had a book in my lap and she would use lighting utilizing her cell phone. This is ran a bit long but if I had to say in a note security guards effing relax.
