We love this store and always make sure to shop there when we are in PS. Sam and Darryl are friendly and knowledgeable about their products and always happy to share a recipe. Be sure to attend a saki tasting and don’t miss out on their monthly food classes (sign up for emails for info) . Tempted by the kitchenware but no room in your suitcase? Don’t worry, they offer shipping too! This store is considered a “don’t miss” by both locals and frequent visitors to Palm Springs, so put it on your “places to go” list right now!

Beautiful, unique tableware from Japan with books, food and other joys to discover. Owners are very friendly and I make it a point to always stop by the store when I'm anywhere near Palm Springs.

We are fans of all things Japanese, so dropping by now and then is a no-brainer. What makes the place stand out is the owners: cheerful, knowledgeable, and always ready to chat. Especially want to say that for Christmas shopping it can't be beat. Wonderful, beautiful things in all price ranges. Bowls, tea sets, Japanese groceries...you don't have to know what you're looking for to find something perfect for anyone.

Wabi Sabi is a cultural gem in the heart of Palm Springs. An absolute must see/explore/shop. You will find unique treasures in this charming store hand picked by the owners Darrell and Osamu. You'll find Shun knives, pottery, jewelry, cookware, sake, an enormous selection of chopsticks and so much more. My visit to Wabi Sabi today was for a private Sushi making class for a local meet-up group. What a blast!!! We arranged to have the event in-store but they also offer in-home Sushi parties as well. It was a 2 hour class which included Sushi making instruction plus a flight of sake and Japanese beer. The cost of this super fun and informative class was very affordable and an excellent value. Darrell and Sam are fantastic hosts and instructors. We received a wonderful education on Sushi making, sake and Japanese culture. And then we dined on our delicious creations!! Overall an excellent experience made even more wonderful by the passion of Darrell and Osamu.

Sometimes, when you walk into a great shop... a shop of "curiosities"... you can feel like a complete ignorant oaf. For many years I have seen this shop and it was located in a different part of downtown palm springs until it relocated to a fantastic well displayed corner on main street... (palm canyon). I'm not sure what I was expecting but I think I was musing that it would be a shop full of trinkets.. none of which I would need or want. Even with my exposure to asian cultures both abroad and here in the US.. I was truly unprepared for how fantastic of a shop Wabi Sabi is. The variety of items, all of which are very useful for most people to use in the kitchen and also for entertaining others was truly astonishing. The owners, I met both, are a couple that are very well known in the Palm Springs community and of course in other cities in California & New York. They both have "claims to fame" in their own right as they both have had very successful businesses together, separately and before they decided to open this shop. I found their stories to be extremely interesting and I enjoyed every single minute. Here's the thing.. I really wasn't planning on buying anything.. but I ended up doing a Saki tasting and buying an exquisite bottle of top shelf Saki. Also... I purchased a few other things that I was needing for my tea ritual in the AM. Do not hesitate to give this shop a whirl as you navigate the fabulous downtown Palm Springs shopping arena.

Me and my friend Carole went to Palm Springs to visit friends and on our way to lunch at Bongo Johnny's we discovered this Great Little Japanese shop. I was worried they would be closed after our late lunch/dinner and sure enough as we arrived at the shop after our meal they were just closing. Thankfully the owners Darrell & Osama were nice enough to let us into the shop to look around and we purchased some tableware for our traditional Sushi Friday place settings! I've been to Japan many times and I love this shop and the shop keepers are a lovely couple and really made us feel welcomed. I love this place!!! (Oh did I tell you I love this shop?)

I don't even know where to begin! I wanted everything in this beautiful store! And I walked away with a surprising amount because the prices are EXCELLENT. No need to surreptitiously check Amazon to compare prices, the ones at Wabi Sabi are lower. Also, there are lots of options for special diets. My friend went with me to get gluten-free Tamari and left with a huge selection of single can sake brands. I didn't catch the name of the woman working there but she was perhaps the most excellent representative of a shop I've ever seen - knowledgeable about all the items and went out of her way to help us find things they didn't have there! Honestly, I can't wait to go back.

Love this shop! I have been wanting to stop in and was so happy when I finally did. Very fairly priced dinner and cook wares from Japan, so many options. This is an excellent store for buying gifts.

What a gem!!!! They have so many great kitchen ware, dishes and just some good 'ol fun stuff. I would love to have seen more Japanese stationary items but you will not be disappointed in this shop. Great staff very helpful and give fun background stories on items. love it!!
