Melville J. Courson Park is a decent size park with plenty of free parking and mature trees for shade. It has a pool, a jungle gym with slides for the kiddos, two basketball courts with good nets on all four rims, and a volleyball area that requires a net or rope to make a net. Restrooms are closed on Christmas, as with many places. The park has been associated with some bad events, such as a shooting with death and a kid being brought there and dying. It was once popular for the wrong crowd, but recent visits suggest it may have changed, a hit or miss.
