I recently had the pleasure of attending a sushi making class at Kabuki Hotel with my family, it was a blast! Chef Kaz led the session with finesse, expertise, and a dash of humor that made the experience truly memorable. As someone with a culinary background, I was impressed by Chef Kaz's meticulous mise en place and the seamless organization of the class. Despite bringing my own knife, I found the fish cutting to be surprisingly challenging, a testament to the level of skill required in sushi preparation. However, under Chef Kaz's guidance, even the most intricate techniques became manageable. Throughout the session, Chef Kaz effortlessly guided each participant through the creation of five distinct rolls, including inside out, out, hand, big, rainbow, and small rolls. From selecting the freshest fish to the art of rolling, every step was executed with precision and care. One highlight of the class was learning Chef Kaz's technique for scraping the tail of the tuna to create a spicy tuna base. It's these insider tips and tricks that truly set this experience apart. But what truly made the class memorable was Chef Kaz's ability to engage with participants of all ages. My six-year-old son was particularly enamored with Chef Kaz, declaring him to be his favorite "be"Cause" of Kaz"! His warmth and enthusiasm created an inviting atmosphere that made the class enjoyable for the whole family. I wholeheartedly recommend Chef Kaz's sushi making class at Kabuki Hotel to anyone interested in delving into the art of sushi preparation. Whether you're a novice or a chef, you're guaranteed to walk away with newfound skills. Thank you, Chef Kaz, for an unforgettable experience!

Kaz is an awesome teacher! He is seamless in his jokes and his tailoring of the lesson to the attendees is masterful.I definitely feel comfortable making sushi on my own and know how to pick out the right ingredients too!Make sure you bring a Togo container, I was able to make 8 rolls, 3 hand rolls and used the leftover fish and rice to make a bunch of nigiri. Plenty to take to the family!

Kaz is the real deal and an excellent guide to take you down the path of understanding sushi. My wife and I took the breakthrough sushi class and had so much fun and learned a ton. Kaz is very thorough in his explanations, he’s patient, he teaches you proper knife skills, drops a lot of history lessons on sushi culture, you learn what the differences are on the grades of fish, you make and eat a bunch of amazing sushi, gave us confidence that we could do it on our own. Best of all Kaz has a great sense of humor and we were all laughing and having the best time from beginning to end. If you’re considering taking the class, do it, you won’t be disappointed.

For my wife's birthday I wanted to have sushi prepared at our house for 15 people. After talking to several sushi restaurants about services to contact, someone recommended Breakthrough. I contacted Kaz and discussed what I wanted; he listened and made some recommendations which I had not thought of. Kaz and Hito arrived 3 hours before the party to prepare the fish and appetizers. They provided plates, chopsticks and everything else needed. Once they were set up, they changed into fresh clothes. They treated me and all our guests with respect and kindness. The food was fabulous. I strongly recommend Kaz and his team to anyone wanting a great sushi restaurant experience at home. Payment was made up front and I tipped at the end of the evening.

Breakthrough sushi was invited by our company's property management to teach a class. Ken showed us how to make 2 rolls (salmon and spicy tuna) all from scratch and then taught us the technique to make a hand roll. Then he rung a bell and dismissed us to go and try on our own. They walked around to make sure we were doing alright and to fix our mistakes. In the end, there was still a lot of fish left, so he allowed us to make more rolls to bring home. He also sliced some sashimi for us too. The fish was very fresh and tasted so good on its own as well as inside our roll. Breakthrough sushi is a great place to learn the basics of making sushi and the owners and staff are very friendly and really want to share their craft with others. Overall a great experience with some great food.
