Will give zero star if possible. The store sells ice cream that has been opened and eaten by others. Disgusting. When we brought the ice cream back half an hour later, the cashier refused to take it back since we don't have the receipt anymore. Unbelievable. Won't be coming here ever again.

I live in walking distance to this location, which should be nice. But it isn't. I've lived here for over a decade and noticed a lot of changes here. In the last few months this location has taken a serious turn for the worse. And it needs to be called out. From a normal customer perspective: the shelf's are often sloppily stocked, if stocked at all, and the price tags on the shelf often do not correspond to the item above. So you think you found a good deal, but in reality they just over stocked the shelves with a different item to make it look fuller at the expense of accuracy. That is when the shelves look stocked, as you can see in my photos, god forbid you want a specific kind of dairy product. Their milk box ALWAYS looks like that photo. Doesn't matter the day or time of day. Their produce department has taken a nosedive lately too(see photos). The yellow AND red onions look like they've been on the shelf all week. Rather than trying to sell that to customers, it should really have been taken off the shelves. But no, management sees nothing wrong with items like this being offered for sale. And I saw the manager or assistant manager walk through the area no less than 3 times while shopping today. Another note on produce is they have terrible labels, the shelves are empty and again, labels don't match the product. If there are labels to be found. Many times there are none at all. From a delivery perspective: if you're picking up orders from here, get ready to offer LOTS of substitutions to your customers. They don't have a firm grip on their inventory at all and many things your customer wants, will simply not be there.

This morning I decided to go to the Safeway deli to get sandwich meals for my coworker and I.Upon arrival I instantly noticed the same lady/deli worker from a previous visit and said hello. I didn't catch her name but she looks like she's the main one back there. She sounds like she's got an islander accent. While I was waiting my turn I noticed that her nose was runny, and when she got back from grabbing bread from the bread isle there was no swap of food prep gloves. She left the deli to go grab bread because they were completely out of bread variety and the person in front of me wanted wheat. This was the first red flag.Second red flag was when she was prepping the guys sandwich in front of me there was a lot of things "they didn't have".Finally it was my turn and instantly she said there wasn't any meat, sauce or peppers for the meal deal that was advertised. At this point I was well into my lunch break and I had to settle for whatever. When she was preparing my coworker and I's sandwiches I couldn't help but notice how old the veggies were. Seemed like they were there from the day before at least. I'm not exaggerating. After I got my food, there was a clear disgusting smell coming from the sandwich and I knew it was the tomatoes and onions.Sure enough they were bad. No way they were prepped that day. I suspect they had been sitting from at least the day before. This is the second bad experience I had at this deli and the first time another cashier tried to step in speak up for me but I kept denying any wrong doing from the deli worker to not be rude or disrespectful to anyone. Clearly, the other Safeway worker that was trying to call the deli worker out on my behalf must know the deli being disgusting is common.Did I mention the whole time this ladies nose was running and she kept having to suck in her snot? This was a terrible experience because I had to throw my Frankenstein Sandwich out and remained hungry for the rest of my shift. I really hope someone does something about this because honestly it's a health risk. It would suck if someone got sick off the neglect going on there.

Had some time before church on a Sunday and decided to stop by to grab some groceries This Safeway is pretty much like any other Safeway with the usual deli, produce, and refrigerator sections. In the span of 10 minutes -- I ended up putting a coconut milk, a People magazine, and Nature Valley granola bars variety pack.I also used the self-check.

First time ever I tried the deli at Safeway, the one on Middlefield in Palo Alto. I ordered and ate a hot ham and cheese sandwich on sliced sourdough bread with mayonnaise. It was fantastic. The best sandwich I have eaten in ages. Wow. What a pleasant surprise. I also ordered a small bag of chips and a bottle of water. The total price was modest, to say the least. I sat outside Safeway on their bench. I wish that they had some tables and chairs for eating inside and maybe one or two outside.

Standard average Safeway products but bad service. Today I was trying to buy some fish. Originally I planned to buy one piece of rock fish fillet. The guy serving me was a young Caucasian man with round glasses. While he was wrapping up the fish for me, I noticed rock fish was on sale and decided to buy one more piece. He was clearly upset and said he had asked me before if one piece was enough and I said yes. He reluctantly unwrapped the pack, added one more piece, and asked me in bad attitude if I am sure that is all I want. That is horrible customer service

Why are the UCC coffees all the way in the back on the top shelf . People barely over five feet have to climb the shelf to acquire these bad girls. #movethemdownnnnn Side note, Safeway is fire otherwise.

Employees (with a few exceptions) are grumpy. Early on in the pandemic they were very slow to adopt safety measures among employees. Many times they are out of what I need. The store is small so inventory is more limited - not their fault. But it isn't always efficient to try shop there for this reason as well. Worst of all they are using anticoagulant rodenticides around the building - that cause agonizing deaths not only to rodents but also to all wild and domestic critters who catch and eat them. Birds, pet cats - etc. Do not support this store and these practices.

To be fair to the other employees and management, can't comment on the rest of the store and fine work sure that they all do, but What is up with the Pharmacy Department? ....it's like the Grinch arrived for the Holidays and is still there. Had an apt scheduled online thru the Albertsons app. = 6 months after the last shot (according to CDC), but Cynthia the "Pharmacy Tech something" - had difficulty adding the month June + 6 to get to December and we got canceled / turned around, only to return and point that out. No sorry or apology, just that. Someone needs to get a stocking filled with fun toys or get math tutor. Other Safwways are great with Flu shots, etc. but not here ever again.

After visiting this local safeway store my husband and I left disappointed with the service and attitude of the employee who helped us. Our receipt was incorrect and when my husband showed it to the representative she scanned the item and the same incorrect price came up, so she proceeded to check the shelf and had us wait. It was priced incorrectly and we were given back in cash $1.98. I then said what about giving us a gift card for the error in pricing, however, the representative ignored me and we left. I was still feeling annoyed and when I went home I called the main number of the store trying to get to speak to a manager. I had to go through the meat dept. extension in order to get a manager on the phone, and when I finally did I got the same person who helped us in the store, Betty, who said she was the manager. This is not about the money it is about the poor quality of customer service and their attitude, despite that I was told I could come back and pick up a gift card, I find this unacceptable customer service. I hate that this is our local store, and recommend you go to another grocery store if you can.

Rudest treatment I've ever had in any grocery. I've been a Safeway customer for decades, in multipke locations, but I will never set foot in this one again.

Shopped at this Safeway for 30+ years. They make good use of a small space and are usually well-stocked with full shelves (the first few weeks of the pandemic were an exception, and to be expected). The sushi chef is fantastic, and I love his creations and his willingness to make whatever combo I want. The floral dept. has exceptionally healthy plants for bargain prices. Only thing preventing me from giving 5 stars is that occasionally refrigerated items are past their expiration date. A couple weeks ago, all 5 packages of 5-Spice tofu were 2+ weeks past the expiration date. Also, in the last 2 delivery orders, the quart cartons of Lucerne fat-free milk were 1 day away from expiration.

okay, update, the Covid-vaxxed are now hassled less than before, but it's P.A., so a majority still wear masks like they do outside, and on bikes, and probably at home in the shower. The customer service is as bad as ever, with possible racism and sexism as suspect? I went in there at about noon during weekdays, and it was not crowded. There appeared to be two lanes open--but when I tried to push my cart towards a seemingly open lane, the young hispanic woman pulled her old-style telephone cord across her lane to close it. So, I returned to second in line behind a shopper with a full cart, the cashier was a young African-American woman seemingly doing all the check-out work for the store at this time. On the far side, near a door, they had a light on, though, and a fat white man standing not at the cash register, but maybe one lane away. Did that mean it was open? So, I pushed my cart over, and seeing me, the fat white man walked the other way from the lane. So, it must be closed, I thought. So, I pushed my cart back. In this process, I had lost my place, so now I was third, behind two large cart shoppers. The hispanic woman was still standing next to her register in her self-closed lane. That was when I asked out loud, "Can I please pay for my groceries?" but no one answered, so I kept waiting. and waiting. and waiting. Finally, as I saw the fat white man inching back closer apparently, to the lane with the light on, I left my cart in line this time, and walked over asking him, 'does the light on mean your lane is open?' and he responded, 'yes! I've been open all morning but no customers...' I corrected him. he had attempted customers, but did not want to work. This is my theory. The fat white man wants to behave like a plantation owner, lording it over the young African-American woman so that she will do all the work and he does not work at all. The hispanic woman is in the middle, but she admires the style of the fat white man and wishes she too could be privileged enough to dodge work and just stand in one place doing nothing. Interestingly, while I voiced my complaint to the fat white man, the hispanic woman seemingly self-reopened her lane, unclicking the cord she had closed in my face before. Why didn't I just go to self-check out? Because I had a heavy water case, and did not want to try to lift it and turn it over to self-scan it.

Today at 1:30 I tried purchasing a box with a bottle of wine and chocolates inside for my boyfriend's birthday coming up. The tag that said it was 25% off had a bar code on the side so I tried to scan that at the self register. The box was too big and it couldn't read the tag so I took off the tag from the box and tried to scan, but it also wasn't working. I asked an older lady with glasses and curly hair for help and she was extremely rude and assumed I grabbed the tag from a random product, "Did you just grab this tag from some shelf?" I explain that it's part of the box and I clearly removed it since the sticker removed some of the paper on the box, but she didn't believe me and told me to go to someone else and walked away with my tag. I asked if I can have it back to check out and she firmly and rudely told me to go to someone else and put it away at a register. Leo who helped me was always nice to me everytime I come to Safeway, so I was thankful for his help. When the other barcode on the box wasn't working either, he asked her for the tag and she walked over and told him, "I don't think the tag is part of this product." Oh, so she think I'm lying now? She stated, "It says, 'wine and sweet treat'." I replied to her, "Right. The chocolate is the sweet treat and the wine is right there." Keep in mind the box is completely see through... I'm so upset with her customer service and how rude she was when I was simply asking for help. Management needs to do something about her attitude towards customers. I definitely don't want to come back if she's around.
