Walter's Camp offers a tranquil and peaceful getaway on the Colorado River, known for its spectacular scenery including views of the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge and the Trigo Mountains. It is a place to unwind, described as a no-frills camp without wifi, providing a chance to get away from everyone and everything. The location is remote, with a long and rough road leading to it. The camp features a general store with a few items, merchandise, and a bar area used in season. Facilities include showers and pit toilets in good condition, a concrete boat ramp, and a communal hangout area. Activities center around the river, with excellent fishing that never disappoints, and opportunities for canoeing or boating along the old Colorado River channel. The staff and hosts are wonderful, accommodating, and treat guests like family. Nights at Walter's Camp come alive with the sounds of braying burros, coyotes, and owls, while the night sky is amazing and mindblowing. Some nighttime noise from wildlife and equipment is noted. While some find the pricing a little expensive, visitors agree it is a beautiful and perfect gem of a place, a last camp that hasn't been commercialized, offering a memorable and spectacular experience.
Quiet backwater camping with a pretty view of the desert. Great for duck hunters. Great for peace and quiet.
