Went to the bank for the ATM parked for just 5 minutes and was told that they were going to tow my car because I wasn't a customer, yelled with a back and forth exchanged with the security guard told them I used the ATM - no apology or anything - terrible place.

This is a horrible bank! We were issued a joint escrow check meaning we both had to go into the bank w ID to sign it. First of all the address printed on the check was wrong! What business uses checks w an outdated address from 3 years ago??!! The second branch was spacious, empty, w almost no one anywhere. The process with both of us there with proper ID took longer than it took me to write this. Finger prints, phone numbers, addresses... all for a check under $200. The only thing good about this bank besides the building itself is that it had free parking. I would give them a half star if I could. As a final turn of the screw this bank CHARGED us $5 to cash a check written on their bank , in their branch w our ids.Wow! How is this place still open?

This bank also known as CVB Financial; CVB should stand for Citizens Vulture Bank, as that reflects their attitude toward depositors. Ten years ago, my daughter purchased a $35,000 one-year CD at Community Bank in Pasadena. Interest rates were very low back and stayed low for many years until the last two years. In the meantime, CVB purchased Community Bank and my daughter moved to Arizona. Her CD kept rolling over at 0.35% (35 basis points). Most bank one-year CD rates are now 4.0%. My daughter was recently visiting us and I suggested closing the CVB CD, paying the well-known standard penalty of 90 days interest (about $33 in this case), and investing in a market rate CD. We went to the local to get her money and CVB charged her a $400 penalty (1.0%). I appealed to the local branch manager who stated that he had no authority and waiving that fee needed to go to the top of CVB. Furthermore, he stated that CVB didn't need to pay market rates for their funds and that I should simply pay the penalty and deposit the funds in a competitive bank.Aside from the enormous penalty I have a few observations about the performance of CVB: (a) the lack of authority at the local level is silly and inefficient; (b) the local operations person didn't even know what 35 basis points means (basically ~ 1/3 of 1%); and (c) their attitude and arrogance in stating that their policies superseded those of Community Bank and they sent me a letter in 2017 reflecting such. My takeaways from this experience: don't assume anything with this little local bank, don't assume safety, don't assume competence, and clearly don't assume fairness.

Horrible customer service. Horrible. Tried to settle an estate for which I was the legal trustee. I presented them with EVERY SINGLE DOCUMENT they requested. Still horribly uncooperative and downright rude and insulting despite every legal document presented them. Took a letter from the attorney representing the estate (at substantial cost) to finally release the funds (about $11,000). People create wills and trusts without Citizens Business Bank establishing their own decisions in violation of what the will and trust says. California Probate Code Section 13100 et sq.

I was a customer of Suncrest Bank until they merged with Citizens Business Bank. Suncrest had a great deal, free checking no matter what AND cash back if you met the three requirements. Now, you have to have a minimum of $2500 just sitting there or you get charged $12 per month AND 50¢ per debit card use!! Greedy greedy greedy!! They're a poor excuse for a bank, seems like they don't want the everyday people as customers!

It's not surprising this bank has low reviews. Visited this branch to open a savings account following the guidance over the phone given to us. Went in with two forms of ID and since the check we had was a Citizens Business Bank check we figured it would be a pretty simple process to open an account. The moment we drove in the parking lot the security guard questioned us before walking in. Understandable, I guess? It's always nice to feel safe. Walked over to the teller (same woman that gave us advice over the phone minutes prior) to open a savings account. The check was 6 figures and again cut from this bank, specifically. My family and I were completely taken back when the teller advised us we could not open account prior to looking at our IDs, all based on our appearance. We were dressed in our work clothes, business attire. And proceeded to ask the most discriminatory questions with the most snobbish attitude (in front of both our kids): Do you live close by? Where do you live? You're aware theirs only a few branches? We're only open Monday to Friday and short days on the weekend? We asked her if it was protocol to ask customers these questions prior to even asking our name or how they could help us? The tone completely changed once she saw we were a mixed family. Over the phone they were professional and cordial. They made it clear that we were not welcome. It was disgusting! This place should be ashamed of itself. Nice way to act in front of children. Thankfully, we walked two blocks away and deposited our check into our new CHASE Bank Savings Account without the discriminatory third degree. Included the photo of the security guard following us around and all the way out to our car.

I've been a Community Bank customer for 25 plus years. But ever since they merged with Citizens, I'm getting charged $15/month for their online banking use. This charge is regardless of whether you keep a minimum requirement balance of $6000. When I complained about it, a customer service rep simply said, "It's just the way it is." It's wrong to charge customers $180/year for online banking use. There are other local banks around. Don't go to Citizens.

I couldn't tell you what it's like to bank here. I've called 3 times about opening a small business checking account, and always get the same answer: "The person who handles new accounts is on the other line. I'll take your contact info and she'll call you back." No call back. After this experience and reading the other reviews, I will happily take my business somewhere else.

Mary at this bank is very unhelpful and even wants to make you feel stupid for asking a question. I was trying to send a wire and I am just not familiar with it and just wanted a little guidance. Well instead of trying to help her contribution was that its very simple.

Fees way too high. I will be leaving asap. Im sure this rip off bank gotta know there are other banks that offer free checking. Was with Community Bank for years until this bank bought them out then hit me with courageously high fees. Id give them zero stars if that were an option.
