John is amazing. The only honest mechanic I know. He doesn't charge you for unnecessary repairs. He works fast and gives you back your car as soon as possible.

Horrible experience. I brought a 2012 VW car to this shop.
When I first brought the car , Joe ( the manager/ owner / head mechanic) politely refused to work on my car , stating that he had to much work , and not enough workers . He said to give him 2 weeks , so I did .
I called two weeks later , and he gave me the same excuse. So I let another 2 weeks go by . Eventually he scheduled me an appointment to look at it .
I arrived at my appointment, he looked at my car for about 10 mins , but even as he was working on my car he was running around working on other cars ( I was not a priority)
He did a scan , added some zinc to my engine, told me to buy some fuel cleaner and drive it around , and then said to contact him after that... He said this might help my specific issue , but also at the same time , he said that fixing the specific code ( Bank 1 air ratio fuel imbalance) was not the issue, but also that it was , and also that my entire engine might have to be taken apart or something to that effect.
So I asked for a general estimate , he refused to give me any quotes ( more like ignoring the question altogether)
I had a pretty high budget for what I was willing to spend on the car
Eventually I called him back after a couple of months and asked again if he could give me a quote, to fix the specific code ( bank 1 air ratio fuel imbalance) he again mostly ignored the question and referred me to some other shop 30ish miles away .
Once we were getting off the phone I heard some unprofessional/rude comments just before the call dropped.
I am very disappointed with my experience ... That is the nicest way I can say it ...

I can't begin to say enough how grateful I am to have John as my go to mechanic for my MINI countrymen. I've been going to him for years now. He's always been super patient, honest, genuine, and skilled in his trade. He treats each car as if it's his own. I always know I'm going to get the utmost care with him at a fair price. You don't find many mechanics like him these days. Would highly recommend him for his auto service/repair. It's rare to find a mechanic with integrity!

John Berberian at MAT has now taken care of the vehicles for 3 generations of our family. From older pickup trucks to new Mercedes. The crew there goes above and beyond in service and care. They have solved big issues with simple fixes (like my sun roof leak - just cleaned out the drain line!).. After our Mercedes Benz dealership charged us over $800 for transmission repair and it was still an issue. We took it to MAT. It turned out to be some missing engine mount bolts. They solved a problem that our dealership couldn't figure out and for a fraction of the cost.

Master Auto Tech is true to its name!I had issues with an oil leak and more with my wife’s 2015 Audi A3 convertible. I brought it into the Audi dealership and they gave me such a high price, that I had a hard time believing it. I chatted about this with an associate of mine who pointed me to Master Auto Tech in Pasadena. The owner John looked at my car…. He explained what the issue could be and put me at ease. They did a deep dive into the car and a couple of days later told me the car was ready. I showed and John explained in detail the problems they found, and the work involved (they even took care of other issues found). The pricing was fair and still less than the dealership.It is great to find a place that cares not only about the car but the customer as well (you’re not a number there).I can’t recommend John and Master Auto Tech enough. They earned my trust and my business!

I am new to writing any reviews on any format... I rarely have patience when writing though my conscience is catching up to me... This business and especially John Berbarian, the co-owner, deserves my mention and positive review. As of a couple years, this shop services my 91' Porsche 964 C2 and 02' Boxster S. Modern Auto Tech is owned and operated by car fanatic brothers Art and John Berbarian. They repair cars from all popular makes. * They have also repaired and restored many early 911s, including their own. A couple years ago, I first brought my recently purchased O2' Boxster S... It had a few niggling noises in the front chassis and issues with suspension. John took the time to go driving with me on various nearby roads to hear and notice what I was going on about, then took a deep dive using all sorts of sensors to go into the chassis to figure out where the creaking noises were coming from... he ended up torquing down pretty much every nut and bolt in sight from within the frunk and underneath the dashboard and front suspension. He also addressed all the suspension issues and only replaced the parts that needed replacing, using only oem parts, showing me exactly what was the issue with detailed explanations, everything accomplished in reasonable time. Since then, the only other repairs for this has been a faulty trunk release actuator, front brake rotor/pad, coolant fluid replacement and an oil change. All his product recommendations are of high-quality and correct to the make and model. If there's anything else that may be on the horizon, he will let me know, but does not do work that is not necessary until it is necessary. Regarding my 964, He repaired the air-conditioning system that another shop previously charged me an arm and leg for and didn't really know what they were doing ( that's another story) Now it blows cold and well in various modes.. happy in the summer! He explained how and why it wasn't working in the past and along with why it works well now. I love that. In another instance, my 964 was experiencing an intermittent misfiring issue on a rainy night... though it never was occurring during dry weather... I brought the car in and right away he located the OBD 1 oxygen sensor wire that was melted through because a previous mechanic, from another shop didn't measure the cable properly, exposing the wire to closely to other hot exhaust plumbing, making it to melt and causing an intermittent misfire when moisture would hit it. Simply replaced the OBD one sensor instead of haphazardly, guessing, and making me replace a particular relay as the previous shop had in the past... Hope that makes sense. He also takes care of any extra details that he knows I would appreciate or that my OCD nature asks for... All his work always comes with an estimate that is accurate and fair. It also doesn't hurt that his wife Jackie and daughter (sorry I forgot her name) are professional and gracious with my requests and taking down notes that are promptly relayed to John. In the end, John always goes out of his way to make sure I am satisfied and pleased. I can always count on him. If I'm not mistaken, John has over 30+ years of experience, and it shows. Long live well John and his family. Now you see why I don't leave comments

I bring my 2017 Porsche to John for service all the time. The service is great and quick. John explains what was done to my car every time. He is friendly and I trust that he is using quality parts for my car.

John is THE man, whether you bring him a Porsche, or a 20 year old mustang you can tell he treats every car like a passion project and sees it through to the end. He ensures everything is done properly and up to highest standard possible. From one car enthusiast to another he tells it how it is and I've never once had a reason to doubt the man or his work. He's a busy man but always makes time to schedule a visit when I have any concerns. I've come here for steering work, an engine swap, exhaust work, clutch work, maintenance and plenty more on my aging fords, and I'll keep coming back as he is a very kind, knowledgeable and trustworthy mechanic. This man and his crew know their stuff. His rates are very reasonable and very competitive. Given his attention to detail and determination to see a job through correctly, it's easily the best value around for auto shops in the area and beyond. His lovely family and colleagues are always very kind and helpful when I stop by for inquiries and service. While I don't look forward to the issues that come naturally come with older vehicles, I do look forward to coming here, seeing what masterpieces he is working on and having only the best of the best work on my car. After being a customer at several shops prior to finding Modern Auto Technology, I no longer want my car serviced by anyone else but the best. 11/10 rating all around.

John and his talented crew just completed a significant mechanical overhaul of my 1950 Cadillac. From the initial diagnostic work to the completed job, all the work was efficient, professional and reasonably priced. I could not be more pleased, and highly recommend Modern Auto Tech.

John at MAT is not only an honest mechanic he's also a genuinely good person. My car had some random electrical issues. John did a code read diagnosis and electronic reset for free. When that didn't work, he did not try to sell me an overpriced fix and instead recommended some inexpensive options to try. When I needed more help to fix the issues he did the work fast and low cost. His solutions were all pragmatic and explained well. One day I was at the shop and John and the other mechanic went out of their way to help a neighbor in distress. It was a demonstration of common decency and care that's often not so common anymore. I'll be a customer of theirs whenever my car needs work.

I've known Matt for 18 yrs and handling auto body issues is his specialty.. He's timely with getting the repairs done with professionalism.. And if you have a high end vehicle/exotic sports car, this is the guy you want to deal with.. I've seen repetitive customers walking away happy because of comfortable pricing, and high quality of work...

Although I'm a repeat customer, I always appreciate the polite, attentive and professional service. Starting from the office attendant, Hamek (I can never pronounce her name correctly) is an excellent listener regarding my auto service request. Most importantly, the repairs are done without me needing to return for warranty work and the rates are very reasonable. Keep up the good work guys!Services: Oil change
