I recently signed up for my first-ever Olympic distance triathlon and brought my bike to Pasadena Cyclery for a Level 1 Service package. This was my first time getting my bike tuned professionally, as I’ve been doing my own bike repairs for the last ten years. The Level 1 Service, priced at $125, included a full tune-up: everything torqued, aligned, and adjusted—brakes, shifting, headset, hubs, bottom bracket, bolts, frame wipe-down, tire inflation, lubrication, and a minor wheel true. They were upfront about the need for new brake pads, cables, and bar tape with gel pads, which I appreciated. The itemized receipt is attached to this review.
I dropped off my bike on Tuesday, and they had it ready by Thursday—perfect timing for the event on Saturday. The cables were installed neatly, and the shifting worked better than it had in years. The bar tape was applied more expertly and perfectly than I could ever do myself. Their communication and professionalism really stood out, and I felt confident heading into my triathlon knowing my bike was in great shape. I had a super fun time on my bike, charging through rolling hills.
Since then, I’ve been so stoked on riding that one of my rear wheel spokes broke today. After ten years of riding on it, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Luckily, I have the time to fix it myself, but if I were under a time crunch, I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my bike back to Pasadena Cyclery again. Getting my bike tuned professionally is an occasional luxury that’s absolutely worth it.
Update: unfortunately someone stole my bike in front of the Caltech Gym entrance 10/17 between 6:40pm-7pm so I don’t have a bike to bring in for repair anymore :(

Came here to get a small repair done on my bike. The repair should have only cost $30, but once we arrived to pick up the bike we were told that it would be an additional $20 due to “internal routing”. When we dropped off the bike, the person assisting us (Josh) knew that the work would need to be completed and routed internally. He even mentioned that it may take long than an hour, but conveniently failed to mention the additional charge. The receipt even specifically lists to call if there are additional charges that are going to be added.

Got a great deal on a new Emonda SL 5! I'm new to road cycling and they were able to explain everything to me about the accessories (including pros/cons) and help me find what I needed. After, they assembled it all for me and I was ready to ride within the same day! Great experience

Excellent guidance and information regarding the purchase of a bike. Also, who likes a good deal, right? I received exactly the deal I was looking for with a Marin mountain bike.

Friendly shop with great deals! Therese did a wonderful job assisting me during my visit. She helped me obtain a proper fit and fielded all my general cycling questions. I was able to test ride the bike as many times as I wanted based on adjustments made. Overall I had a great experience at the shop and am very happy with my purchase.
