Pasadena Playhouse is the official State Theater of California and a 2023 Regional Theatre Tony Award recipient. This historic theatre, founded in 1917, is internationally recognized for its significant role in American theater, having staged thousands of original productions and premieres by famed playwrights. It is a historic building and a cultural cornerstone with a storied history, serving as a hub for top theatermakers. The venue itself is a great old theater, intimate, charming, and clean, with comfortable seats. There isn't a bad seat in the house, and it offers an incredible seating capacity and a magical atmosphere. The Playhouse puts on top-notch, fabulously produced shows with terrific, professional actors, often receiving standing ovations. Located in a great artsy community, it is surrounded by plenty of eateries and great food options very close by. Parking is available with paid parking behind the building and in the building across the street, as well as street parking. As a living force in its community making theater for everyone, it is a welcoming gem and an incredible venue that feels like a journey through time.
Today I came to this theater on a field trip with my daughter's class, and the play was beautiful. It was my first time seeing a shadow show—*Song of the North*—and I loved it; I would definitely come back to see the show again.
