I have been here twice before to do my car smog checks and both experiences went smoothly with no hassle. My appointment today was for my window regular to be replaced and door handle installed. During my last smog check in May I asked the techs if they are able to do these repairs and to be told they can but I must supply the parts which I already had them. I asked about the cost to be told it's 149.99/hr of labor and it could be more or less. I go ahead and schedule an appointment for the window regular and door handle with the expectation of the cost just for my window is 150. I unfortunately needed to reschedule because I didnt have the funds. I called to reschedule days before my appointment. I rescheduled for this morning and my complaint begins.
I arrive 5 minutes late to both bays occupied and several customers standing outside the shop. A tech told me to park to the side and to meet him inside to drop my keys. I go inside the shop for a lady to ask me if I needed help and I told her Im here to drop off my keys for her to side eye me and tell me to go to the other side into the bays. I go to the bay side and there's a desk with a young tech and the older tech who was helping me was on the inside of the bay as I stood outside standing in front of another techs desk. The older tech is gathering my car info again from me. As he works on the computer the young tech politely excused me from being in his way and I stood outside with the other customers. I am now thinking at this point even though I had a 9am appt I was not going to be out of there anytime soon and I live out at lake nacimiento. I drove specifically into town with the hopes of getting my window fixed. A young tech handed me a clip board and told me to sign as he left to go somewhere else. I Not fully understanding the new 400 quote for my window and door handle repairs the tech comes back. I told him I'm confused about the window quote being 283 as I had asked twice before it was 150 or one hour of labor to fix because the new quote is stating 1.7ish hours and this number was never mentioned to me until the day of my appointment and was only calculated after trying to check in. The tech was asking who I had spoken with because the older tech is saying probably new staff but the young tech was the one I spoke with originally and scheduled my first appt and the second appointment was scheduled with the older tech for both to inform me it's 149.99/hr for the window repair. After I told the young tech I couldn't afford this because I had the expectation this was one hour cost NOT two hours and would had been informed of their precalculated formula prior to me driving 30minutes into town. The response from the young tech to me was im sorry you are welcome to check other business out for a better quote. If i had known originally I, i would have prepared for the 400 cost, or would had never wasted my time spending 200 for the new window regulator, making the appointment with mobil, and driving 30 minutes to this business to be told go somewhere else in the end.
Why was I not handed a paper quote in advance or the calculation done prior for a true estimate to be given to the customer?
Why did two different techs tell me the same thing but not once the true quote of the services I was requesting?
Why was I scheduled with others waiting too?
What will be done in order for this miscommunication or experience like mine does not happen again to others?
This comment is coming from a past happy customer who unfortunately had a bad recent experience. I hope something of good can come from this.

More than a gas station with busy & knowledgeable repair mechanics (by appointment usually but not always needed. Just call ahead). And the price of their fuel is at local standards

BE CAREFUL OPENING YOUR DOORS HEREthese stupid bollards are way below eye level, so your passenger may open their door right into them. Stupid, stupid design. They should be eye level like all other gas stations.

Don't come here for smog checks you come at anytime and they just tell you to come back tomorrow, the smog check boss is lazy and gross spitting lugees on the floor disgusting, they choose to work when they want and are just out flat lazy, Matt's smog on paso robles st much better choice
