Bill Powell is the winemaker and he poured for our small party of three and we had an excellent time tasting on April, 1 2023. We tasted for two days and Bill is currently pouring library wines from 2012 & 2013. We did a flight of blends and single varietals. It was quite an experience tasting wines that old and they were excellent.Bill is super knowledgeable and passionate about wine and I learned a lot about the wine making process and the different varietals he has bottled. The wines are more natural than most and you can taste that in the wines. Medium to light bodied red wines with full flavors.I am especially fond of the blends and I picked up a few bottles to enjoy now since they were 2013s.If you’re in Tin City and PowellMountain Winery is open, consider stopping by.

Love this winery! Bill is always friendly, a pleasure to chat with. He’s so knowledgable about the wine and loves to share his knowledge. The wine is superb! We love stocking up on the wine for the holidays!

My husband and I were in a Budget rental car and noticed a flat on the car while parked on the street where winery is located (on a big incline). We pulled in to the parking lot (no cars there!) and parked on level ground which happened to be about 5 ft encroaching a handicapped slot. As we were changing the tire, a man (not gentleman) came up to us and said “you realize you are in a handicapped place. My customers may need that place.” We pointed out that we were a bit handicapped ourselves (a 73 year old changing the rental car tire) but he did not back down!! Unbelievable for someone to berate someone in that situation!I urge all senior citizens to avoid this winery!

Unique wines that are excellent. Additionally, it was nice to have the winemaker Bill guiding us through the tasting. Every bottle we purchased was at least 10 years old (and peaking in my opinion). Very good indeed!

Holy Macaroni, so my wife and I are exploring Tin City and trying to figure out what all the hubbub is and as we are wondering we stumble across Powell Mountain Cellars and I can tell you with 1000% certainty this is one wine maker that lets me capture a glimpse into his passion and skills! I am a cab chaser and he did not disappoint even a little, sometimes when your out exploring you stumble on a diamond in the rough, this wine maker is a true artist and it's felt with every sip (incline yummy!) if your are ever visiting Tin City search out Powell Mountain Cellars and let your mind be grabbed up hugged and taken on a journey, this tasting will change your perspective, and change the course of your day for the better. Great wine, great company, great wine. Bought some to take home and enjoy.

We were looking for parking when we just happened upon this place. Bill explained the wine to us and we really enjoyed all of them. The Alta Montana was my favorite and we ended up buying 4 bottles. Really good wine with friendly service don't miss it! Our tasting fee was waived as we purchased wine. Such a hidden gem!

A really great place to taste. Bill, winemaker and host, was gracious, welcoming, and knowledgable. He poured what we wanted to try and answered all of our questions. Plus, the wine was really good. They're not typical Paso fruit bombs, but rather balanced and food-friendly. Highly recommended.

Been to Bill's place a few times, the tempranillo and the grenache are some of the best I have had, and any time my friends in Paso we stop here to get some wine and do a tasting. He is always friendly and has a great selection of wines to taste and buy.

What a treat! Bill Powell was very hospitable and his wines were fantastic!I would have to say a trip to PWC is highly recommended. Bill was friendly, knowledgeable and funny. Words cannot describe the wines we tasted, there were so many great wines it would be hard to recommend just one. The only recommendation is go to Powell Mountain Winery in Paso Robles’ Tin City!

Had a wonderful tasting with Bill the winemaker of Powell Mtn. We especially enjoyed the Bordeaux blends and his Tempranillo was excellent. A perfect day! Cheers.

I do appreciate the outdoor seating on green lawn in the shade on a sunny fall weekend. The ambience was good, the wines were nice...but all over $50? A bit pricey, to be sure. The surprise was when after buying a bottle, they guy still charged me $30 for the tasting. He chose not to waive the tasting fee like every other winery I've ever been to does. I was startled. Probably should've changed my mind about getting the bottle. Be aware that this seems to be the practice here, according to some of the other reviews. There are lots of other fine wineries in the area that won't do this. Sure, they get the fee at the cost of goodwill and a return customer.

First time at Tin City with great friends. Tried many different wine tasting rooms but LOVED Powell Mountain Cellars the best! Bill was so inviting and informative of his wines. We highly recommend coming to Powell for a tasting and a bottle to take home.

We were at tin city and it was approaching 5pm we headed over to Powell mountain to see if we could do a tasting before they closed at 5pm. Bill welcomed us warmly and walked us through our tasting which was fantastic. I did the blends menu tasting of 5 wines while my partner built his own flight.
This was by far the best winery we visited during our weekend and we would definitely return. We ended up buying a case curated by us. A must go! Tell Bill that Paul & Trish sent you!
