Terrible experience with front desk. Terrible medical care. Would not recommend if you are sick, in pain, or need medical advice.

It's the hardest to get an appt with Sierra Care with Dr Berenizak . Anytime I do go in she rushes through my appt before I am done with my questions. I asked to switch doctors but they won't allow it. I was referred to a specialist who wouldn't see me until two tests were done. I kept calling Dr Berenizak and everytime she said she was working on it which took several weeks (2)The specialist told me all it takes is a phone call. Extremely disorganized and the woman at the front desk can be rude. I just feel like they dont care abouttheir patients. Also they never call back when they say they will. Very frustrating.

I will start by saying my family have been patients of Dr Mara for 20 years. I've stayed to have some sort of consistency. However, in hindsight I'm thinking I've failed myself and children by remaining uncared for there. I read the reviews and can relate to what many say of staff being unkind. I've experienced it, but was understanding knowing the field can be stressful. I can also relate to years of lost referrals, referrals taking months to be received, only to finally go to uncovered providers. I, personally, have felt nothing but lost in their wicked system. Maybe, it is this practice alone that has depleted all of my faith in the medical system. All these years, I've leaned to doubt, and be discouraged; and perhaps it's because THIS office has really been all I've known as a primary source. This office has taught me I have to be an advocate for myself and my kids because medical practitioners aren't going to help you at all. This office has taught me that even if a Dr cannot find answers to an ongoing major medical issue in a child that's persisted for years interrupting daily life, that I have to find a Dr who will help. And so I did. I found a dr for my child who diagnosed severe stuff that was "missed" while she suffered in so much pain in her little body for 3 years. I should have left then. This cycle continues. What happened to Dr's who hear their patients? They're out there, but this practice trained me to believe otherwise. What happened to Drs who want to search for the cause instead of medicate the unknown? They're out there, but this practice is not it. Many many years ago, there was quality care. Now, they border line meet standard of care. If you have a fever and want antibiotics, place to be. If you are gravely Ill of something undiagnosed, run for the damn hills or arrive at your grave and whither away... while you are unheard, not treated, not seen (because they have no appointments available to schedule so you need to call every day), referred out for the wrong reasons, forgotten to be referred out while you're told you're in waiting process, never evaluated properly, treated poorly at times by over-worked office staff, told different things by different staff when trying to track the ugly referral process, and the best part there's two famous solutions from this Doctor for anything she can't resolve. And, I speak on this with experience with myself and each of my children. "What pharmacy do you use?" "Maybe try some therapy" Because prescribed medication for something unknown makes sense somehow. And when a child is continuously sick, and or an adult and they just can't get better; they must need therapy. Almost any major medical set back for myself and my children; I've found solutions on my own advocating for ourselves over the years being under the care of that office. This practice was only a vessel to use Insurance when we could. I'm ready to renew my thoughts on western medicine, and it starts with realizing my distorted idea that it's an absolute failure is built on the influence this practice has had on me for 2 decades. Maybe it's not Western Medicine that's an absolute failure to see a person as whole, maybe it's just Dr. Mara Berzniak.

Sierra Care is my primary care office and has been for years. I have had to reach out to them multiple times to get referrals sent out to other offices for various procedures. Every single time they have sent the wrong referral code, lapsed in sending it past my appointment time, or sent it to the wrong location. They are consistently the rudest medical office I have ever worked with. Every time myself or other practitioners have tried to call them to fix the problem with their referral codes they have been rude, dismissive, and impatient. Not only have I never been treated with more disrespect and disdain by a medical office - I have never dealt with a more poorly organized and operated business. I have lost $1,000 having to pay out of pocket for a procedure because they sent the wrong referral codes and have had to reschedule countless appointments day of due to their inability to communicate and share necessary information. Worst. Medical. Practice. Ever.

I've been a patient of Dr. Mara's for many years and couldn't be happier with having her as my doctor. I drive from South Nevada County to Penn Valley and am happy to do so in order to have such great care and caring staff.

What a scam to begin with! Upon my initial call to see if the Dr is accepting new patients, they said yes. So I filled out all paperwork and mailed back. Three weeks later they call to schedule appt only to be told the Dr is Not accepting new patients but I can see a nurse practitioner. This is how they build the business of a nurse practitioner. Secondly, the Nurse Practitioner Dena Dimond was astoundingly RUDE. I have struggled with back pain for years and she was pushing physical therapy which included steroid injections. I politely said I was "open to trying physical therapy but steroid injections would not be an option for me. To which she rudely replied "okay if you're HELL-BENT on back surgery!" After two weeks I returned to my followup appt and politely addressed that I had been struggling for two weeks with her HELL-BENT comment, to which she replied "she was frustrated" trying to figure out all my issues. She would not and did not apologize, but only said "we may not be a good fit." They then sent me a certified letter releasing me as a patient. Terribly unprofessional. What medical provider would ever say such a thing to a patient?

DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET TREATED LIKE HUMAN WASTE!! I was seeing one of their "doctors" DENA DIAMOND for several months when suddenly I got a letter in the mail saying my doctor didnt think we were a good fit and she was withdrawing from my care so I could find a better fit. I called and asked if i could see another doctor in their office seeing as how i suddenly have been dropped from the ones care. NO when one doctor withdrawals you are now black listed at that office and no one will see you. So because she didnt know how to treat a transgender person and withdrew from being my doctor I cannot see any doctors officiated with their office. They stated they are a private practice and support each others choices and if I were to see another doctor in the office she would possibly see me so I cannot be seen there anymore.

Great physicians and nurse practitioners in Penn Valley and the greater Grass Valley region. Worth the small drive to see them and I highly recommend them since my transition to their practice a few years ago.

I just moved one mile away from the clinic. They have several doctors and yet they are only family doctors or children doctors. And even though my insurance referred me they don't cater to elderly or disabled people. If you plan to retire near the Wildwood Lake area, be prepared to drive an hour for medical help. You also need to have all your meds delivered. I put in an application and then was told that they would call me. They didn't call and even sent my application to other doctors without notifying me. I also live across the street from Wildwood Lake and what a beautiful view, but that is where it ends . No access to the lake except if I know someone, and I hear that the people at the gates are not friendly or helpful. I have been trying for two months now to find health care. I have 25 conditions and several are life threatening and need 14 medications and running out of some. I am starting to think that moving here gave me a death sentence. Not a good place to retire . They also denied me medical because I had oxycodone on my list from my back surgery. They listed me as an addict and then the nurse called all the Doctors in the area and black balled both of us.

My wife and I recently moved to the area and were looking for a primary care physician. We saw that Sierra Care was accepting new patients, and after doing some research we decided on them. We were surprised to learn that they have a policy of having patients "apply" to be accepted. They would get back to us in 30 days and let us know if we would be allowed the honor of their services.........
