Dollar Tree in Petaluma's Redwood Gateway center on North McDowell Blvd is great.
Relaxed miscellaneous shopping for cheap stuff that eventually breaks or gets used up & trashed.

I usually go to this Dollar Tree store and I NEVER had a problem with it or anyone for that matter. BUT on 1/1/24 New Year around 11:30a, I went in there to buy some supplies for the residents at my job for bingo. I got on the line of cashier Ross (White male mid 50s I would say) since he was the only register open and I could tell that he didn't like the fact that I was in his line. After he ringed all of my merchandise, I presented him with a $100 bill that I got from my job. Ross decided NOT take it and accused me of having counterfeit money (I'm a 33 year old African American woman) and explain that it was his policy and he will not take it and I have to pay another way. He also decided to change his story and said it was the store policy and when I told him that it need to be posted on the door so every customer that walks in can see it, he stated " well I'm telling you and that's enough). He was extremely rude and racist. The 2 ladies who was behind me on the line also called him out on it and he did not care. I asked to speak to the manager on duty which was April and explain the situation and April inform me and the other customers that the bill usually get checked and mark with a marker which ROSS DID NOT DO and this whole time, he did not give a sh*t. I'm so glad that the 2 ladies especially the one who worked at a bank stood up for me and called him out on being racist, rude, disrespectful and racial profiling me. I'm not sure if April did anything about it because the Assistant Manager Chris was not aware of this incident. I definitely WILL be calling corporates which I already but since it's New Years, no one is available. This can NOT HAPPEN TO ANYONE AGAIN.

I am late to the game as I just discovered the dollar store. This is my new favorite place. So many fun holiday decorations, cards and more. This store is very well organized and some of the friendliest customer service I have seen in a retail environment in a long time.

This is the best Dollar Tree ever! They always have cool new stuff, and the store shelves are organized so you don’t feel like you’re shopping at a third-world bizarre. I can lose track of time and wander around for an hour thinking of all the crafts I can make at home. And they have awesome organizational tools—plastic tubs with lids, stackable bins, metal baskets—that you’d easily pay 10x more for on Amazon. While the price hike to $1.25 per item last year was a bummer, the quality of merch really did improve, which more than makes up for it. Look at Target’s $5 section and then go to the Dollar Tree… you’ll find the SAME THING for a buck! Not everything at the Dollar Tree is just as good as other retailers’ products—I’ve bought glue sticks that don’t stick, an ice cream scooper than snapped in half upon its first use, and the quality of off-brand food products is questionable—but it’s a great lazy Sunday shopping experience that gets your creative brain going and satisfies that shopping bug without breaking the bank. Can’t beat it!
