This by far has to be one of the worst grocery stores I have been to. The meat counter and associated refrigerated sections have pretty pathetic cuts of meat. I also think it's pretty trashy to sell expired meat as "managers special" . As far as the checkout, it takes forever to get out if that store. I wish a store like Oliver's would move into town .

never and I mean never get the seaside combo I bought it for a early morning snack thinking it would be a safe choice but I was terribly wrong during the ride home I smell a agonizing smell from my sushi and I didn't realize it was a waring from an Guardian angel to throw it out the window or leave it on the side of the road but I was clueless. the smell got even worse the closer I got home I thought the smell was just the fish because sushi sometimes smell bad but I was wrong. when I got home I opened the sushi container and got blown away by the stench of something I could only describe as a nuclear meltdown. I mean this was bad but I idiotically continued. the millisecond I put it in my mouth the rice that usually has no flavor turned into a waxy texture similar to eating a candle that taste like a dead rat with maggots in it. then the fish took its turn to play the fish tasted like a frozen ice cube that was made out of mold I swear I felt fuzzy in the fish. and you might be wondering why I didn't just spit it out when I tasted the rice Well, I will tell you the seaweed on the sushi literally got stuck to the top of my mouth I thought I was gonna have something that smells Like rotten tomatoe on my mouth for life. I could not spit it out no matter how much I tried I probably looked so dumb trying to spit it out and not being able to. I literally had to put my fingers in my mouth and swallow it in the moment I swallowed it that's when all hell broke loose I am not joking my stomach growed in less than five seconds it sounded like the krakatoa volcano I mean, I knew something was gonna happen, and I knew it wasn't gonna be good keep in mind this is all from one piece of Unheavenly sushi. moments later, I feel my anus Start to feel a little weird. and at the moment is when I realized the hole plan of this demonic piece of sushi like I mean, the hole was the goal. at that point I realized that I couldn't escape It's a trap I wiggle to the bathroom because I open up my legs A poll of lava will come out of my anus. it takes about a minute to get to the bathroom and I was sweating. I was scared and terrified on what else this demonic little sea creature might do to me because I will be defenseless while I am on the toilet. This lava in my butthole felt like getting a tattoo on the hole. While I sit down lava pours out of my buttox as I sit in relief, knowing that I might just be OK but then the second growl comes louder than the first one this time it's not going down it's going up top floor I mean. Mayday Mayday this is a code red. I thought the parTy was over but I guess not. I guess some of the guest stayed over after the party was done and now they want to leave through my mouth while I am sitting on the toilet about 5 pounds of just stuff that was sitting in my stomach compiles all over the bathroom floor. I am speechless on how one piece of sushi can do all this damage. after all the damage was done, I felt a little woozy, but I was proud of myself for overcoming the sushi. I think I am a better person now because of that experience. so to anybody reading this please never get this. Safeway take this off the menu before it claims more victims Of its ability to destroy people

Don't come here, iv had the guy who cleans the floors try and fight me. Called the store manager and he acted like he couldn't care less. Went here on Christmas too (left my family) and they wouldn't let me in 10 minutes before closing. This Safeway has really became the worst place to grocery shop in Petaluma.

Thank you so much “Josh” for suspending my boyfriend and forcing his 20 year old gf to pay the entirety of rent and not be able to buy ANY food for a month. Truly thank you. I love starving and being broke.

Got yelled at and scolded by the self checkout attendant for moving the bags 10 inches closer so I didn't have to bend over. I'm not even exaggerating, everyone around got quiet and looked while she did it. Not only that, but after she was through yelling at me, she grabbed a coworker and began glaring at me while she pointed and whispered things back and forth. I thought I was being punked. So I decided to check the reviews, turns out it's not just me. 2 other people in the past 2 months left reviews about her. I don't want to wait on hold forever to talk to a manager about it but hopefully they see this and get rid of the miserable witch.

I won't beat about the bush here....there is one checker round about 6am that is very difficult to deal with, very slow and definitely not customer friendly. The long line contributes to unruly patrons. I almost refuse to buy groceries here because of the uncomfortable experiences. Can this Safeway please give this cashier a severance? Other than this, Safeway is a great store.

I shop here regularly as I did in other Safeways in cities I've lived throughout California. Most are ok, but I really like this one in Petaluma. It is big, has a Pharmacy, a good selection of items and clean. Going on a Friday eve was not the best idea. The Seafood counter was closed and minimal checkouts. This was approx. 7:30PM, maybe a fluke but was disappointed. I really don't know how much you actually save with the members card.It is in a good location, lots of other stores in that mall and surrounding malls. It's true what they say, "don't food shop when you're hungry."

As I was familiar with this particular store and pharmacy, it was the first place I thought of when I needed to get a prescription for Paxlovid. It was day two of having symptoms for COVID and time was critical for starting this Rx. The pharmacy received my prescription and got it ready promptly and, as promised, gave me a call. I had given them my insurance information over the phone. I asked what my cost will be and they said something like, there should be no cost. When I got there, wearing a mask, doing the final paperwork I was informed, due to some glitch with my insurance there was a $12 balance. I didn't care, I needed to get this. The supervisor on duty took note and said, "That's not right, there shouldn't be any cost." Who was I to argue. The supervisor went to their workstation and started entering or re-entering my information. It took a few minutes, but they came back, saying, "There you go, no charge." I was truly impressed with the above and beyond the usual level of customer service that is so often seen. The takeaway is not that I got my prescription at no charge, it is that the staff showed concern and tried to correct some problem with my insurance. A heartfelt, thank you for your help. PS, the Paxlovid really helped.

Absolutely disgusting store. Poorly maintained and filthy dogs allowed in shopping carts nearly every visit -- where our toddlers sit, exposing them to fecal and other (staph) bacteria. Not good. Management refuses to fix despite several requests. We now happily shop at Raley's, which has clear signage and enforces Calif. Health Code.

This is really the only rating you could give this place; let us begin our experience outside and conclude at check out.In the parking lot, you'll find no fewer than three seemingly abandon cars filled with garbage, a sort of foreshadowing of what awaits you inside.Next you'll need a cart, the selection of which I would describe as "semi-operable" at best, though many seem to be inert.Once inside, you'll think "this is just like any store." the second star I offered this review is a bone tossed for the location being mostly always stocked - however, that is the only luxury you'll find here. There may as well be zero employees, in fact, I would argue that a better experience would be to remove all check stands and opt for exclusively self-check out - you won't find a more surly and uninterested group of employees anywhere else in the universe.I can't count on both my hands how many times I've witnessed a checker plainly argue with their manager about wanting a break in front of a massive line of customers and then indignantly carry on checking you out with barely a word. Customer service died in this building.I would recommend waiting to use the restroom until you've arrived back home. The one here is covered in graffiti and the appliances are kicked and tentatively connected to the walls.Spend the extra coin and go to Whole Foods.

I shop at your store on a regular basis because it is close to my home. I usually do self check out so that I do not need to interact with your RUDE clerks. Unfortunately, I had the need to go through one of your checkstands today, as I was purchasing alcohol. It just reaffirmed how rude your employees. After my encounter today, I will be going a bit out of my way to shop at the local Raley's store where their employees are more pleasant and give the impression that they are happy to be working.
