“I would choose the Stanislaus National Forest over Yosemite any day! This past weekend I stayed in the back meadow (upper meadow? Not sure the name) at Kennedy Meadows. It was the last weekend of the season in October and on Sunday morning there was ice on the ground. It was cold but worth it. If you're driving up here, it's worth it to stay for 3 or more days. You can easily fill a couple days at the resort with hiking, fishing, and horseback riding but you can tack on day trips to Bodie or explore other areas for hiking. The PCT runs through a lot of hiking trails in the area if that is of interest to you. The general store sells fishing licenses if you are in need but they also have a restaurant and a bar. As far as I know, there is no trailer dumping here.”
