Best pies ever! Well worth the drive from Sacramento! Owners are very hospitable and gracious. Bake shop is better than other ranchers bake shops in area. Found this gem only a few years ago. Had always only gone to the other Apple Hill ranches! This one is the best for pies. Haven't tried any of their jellies and jams yet! But if you are a fan of pies, they are the best! Fun area for families.

While it is definitely off the beaten path, it is so worth it. We bought a fresh pie and several frozen ones. We finished the fresh marionberry pie in no time. It was so delicious and obviously freshly home baked. The guy working was very helpful and super friendly.

When I visit my Mom, in Placerville, I absolutely have to stop by Hooverville Orchards to pick up baked goods, fruit and other goodies ?

Ordered apple, berry and pumpkin pies for our family's Thanksgiving and they were sooooooo good. The family-run business also gives the process of picking up pies such an old-fashioned wonderful holiday feeling. Five yummy stars!

One of the nicest places we've eaten fresh pie lol. Perfect spot. Kids loved it. Eat an apple pear.

Good selection, tasty pies, friendly service, very pretty farm. Not giving it five stars because I don't want it to get so popular that the pies sell out before I get there!

Hooverville Orchards is probably the best kept secret in all of El Dorado County. They offer fresh fruits and vegetables as well as frozen, unbaked pies that are both regular or gluten-free and even some that are sugar free. They have a delightful picnic area with trees in the shade for your family's enjoyment.

Wow! This place is a little hidden but so glad I found it!! If you are looking for something to do or a place to visit and you are in the area, this is a must for adults or even families with kids! You will have a blast eating their amazing pies (I love the cherry pie) and their ice cream with berries! I can't say enough, this place is so so good! We got some ice cream with berries and a cherry pie, apple pie and some other fruits! We loved everything and the gentleman there was super helpful and friendly! I will definitely be stopping by often and having some more desserts and ice cream for sure! The ambiance is a lost treasure that when found you either want to keep to yourself or in my case tell everyone about it !

Best Lemon Cake ever! Adorable place to visit with the family. I don't know if the orchard is organic or if they spray toxic chemicals on their plants, but it sure a cute place and the family who owns and runs out are wonderful.

Perfect Apple Hill farm full of variety of fruit orchards. Worth the drive to buy the perfect pie. The crust is perfect.

Hooverville Orchards is a small family ran orchard in Placerville, CA. It's off the beaten track. It's not on Apple Hill. What it does have is a u-pick rose garden, picnic area, and on-site bakery. In the bakery, they sell seasonal fresh farm grown fruit, baked goods, and jams and jellies. The operation is on a much smaller scale and more traditional low key than Apple Hill. Less hubbub. The small shopfront bakery makes cookies, pies... tons of pies. They sell frozen pies and fresh baked ones on two sizes (6 in and 9 in). They also sell ice cream by the scoop. Pie Al la mode anyone? The woman that helped me in the bakery was the best. She had a great attitude with a bright smile. Even when the shop got busy, she made sure to welcome and engage with everyone. I bought a 6 inch peach & raspberry pie and three jumbo peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. The prices were a bit cheaper or comparable than Apple Hill. The cookies were on the crispier side, good flavors. The pie.... Woo wee it was delicious. The crust was flaky without disintegrating as I sliced my fork through it. The berry mix was the right consistency, no runny mess, and without being toothache achingly sweet. The picnic area is where we sat and ate the cookies. Oops forgot to take pics. We sat under the massive thatched branch canopy. Before you leave, don't forget to check out the rose garden. It's a u-pick, $1 a stem. There are shears available to use. I picked a couple of roses, they bloomed for 5-6 days. My only gripe is the bathroom facility or lack of one. There is a porta toilet and outdoor wash station out in the parking lot under the oak tree. @hoovervilleorchards

Granted this place is off the beaten path on Hwy 49 between Placerville and Cool but it's so worth going especially on a lovely autumn day. This is our second visit. Our first visit was with the granddaughters and then again last Saturday. I always want to refer to this place as Whoville. lol. I have family that will venture out here to pick peaches and will also pick up frozen pies for neighbors in the Bay Area. One of my niece's neighbors has her pick up frozen pies for her, she then bakes them, and gifts the pie away as something she made. Great idea and why not?! We picked up a frozen apple crumb pie, small blackberry pie, and jar of black cherry jam. We also purchased a slice of apple caramel pie ala mode and shared that in their picnic area. In total, we spent $52. The picnic area has a playground. When we took the grands we couldn't get them off the playground equipment to eat their ice cream. lol. This is a 50-year-old business. Everyone that we have come in contact with has been so nice. The pies are a bit pricey but don't you want quality? This is coming from someone buying pies from Costco. This is a year-round business so I will be back for my homemade pies for my neighbors. lol

I love the atmosphere of this place. It's very quiet and not nearly as busy as apple hill. There's lots of pies, cookies, and other desserts. They also have veggies like tomatoes, squash, and peaches available by the pound for reasonable prices. They had apple pie sundaes for 6$ each which I had to try! You get a lot for the prices and it's super tasty. It was really nice to sit under the wisteria and watch the hummingbirds. Super relaxing and a nice drive to get some snacks!

Did not disappoint. Peaches were some of the best we've had. The apple pear pie was amazing and the gent behind the counter was a pleasure. Worth the little drive out there.
