Wonka is a strange but interesting movie. The theater staff were very attentive and courteous. It made for a great experience.

The Placerville Cinema has undergone a series of improvements with their seating so you can recline and relax more. They have your typical candy, food, and drink selection, and their popcorn is typically on point. It's very much a small, local theater with its friendly vibe, price point, and coziness. They don't have everything playing at once, but again it's a small theater. I will say that whoever determines the timing of shows has gotten that correct. Times are always convenient and considerate of the length and show being watched (i.e. long movies or child vs more adult type movies). I have only had one "bad" experience, and that was because some dumb adults let their kids run up and down the aisles and climb over seats. It was obnoxious. They stopped when a staff member came to investigate. Otherwise, no complaints.

This theater is wonderful! Comfy and spacious sheets. Good snack bar that serves Solid Ground beers! What more could you want?

I have been going to this theater for years. I am excited to see the upgrades come to Placerville theater. It is super comfortable now. And the movie selections are great. A solid mix of indie films and the big box office movies too. Nice staff and it’s super clean too. Easy to park! Love our hometown theater

Love my Placerville cinema! I even enjoy coming during midday for a quick nap in the big loungers in the front! The management has always been accommodating with any requests or issues. Would recommend to anyone!

We usually have the best experience at this theater and always bring my kids, ranging from 5-17 years old. We love the comfort of the seats and the lounges as well, the snacks and drinks are affordable and the staff at the concession stand is always so nice. The staff in the concession stand last night, 11/28/23, were wonderful and kind and were excited we were there to see Wish for our daughter's 5th birthday(the 5pm showing). The theater was practically empty, maybe 10-12 people at best. My 5 year and I laid together in the lounge seat, she is scared in the dark so I allowed her to use my phone flash light on low to see. The manager approached us a short time later and said it was ok, but to not shine at the ceiling, completely understandable and we complied. Shortly after, he walked up to his again and told us the flashlight was casting a shadow on the screen and it needed to be turned off. Again, completely understandable and we complied and he was very kind about it. I noticed he was still standing at the end of the row watching us and the others in the theater, I made sure my daughter wasn't running around, even though we were in a kids movie and keeping a kid still through that is not easy.At the end of the movie, a woman approached us and asked what the flash light was all about and that it caused a shadow on the screen. The other patrons in the theater stated they didn't notice that, it was a bizarre interaction and we didn't understand why this woman felt it necessary to approach my family. We walked out and in the lobby we saw this same woman standing by the front, with the manager, and a family and it seemed like she was confronting them as well. My husband had heard her complaining to the family about their children being disruptive during the movie and mentioned us as well. At this time, my husband requested to speak to the manager. He asked the manager if there was an issue because this woman kept talking about us and the other family and we complied with his request and we thought nothing more of it, so what was going on. We were then told this woman, who complained, used to be the manger and ran the theater. Ok, and? She's isn't an employee now. We told him we complied and had no issue with turning the small flashlight off. The woman spoke up from the corner of the lobby and asked if we needed to speak to her. My adult daughter spoke up and told the woman to mind her own business, the manager told my daughter that it wasn't appropriate to say that. WHAT?? She wasn't rude at all, this woman clearly needed to just mind her business and drop it but she wouldn't and walked over to us and approached us AGAIN. My husband told the manager that we were there celebrating our daughter's birthday and this interaction really ruined the experience for us(not her because she was oblivious), the manager told US that WE ruined this woman's movie experience along with the other family. The manager excused this woman's actions and allowed her to berate his customers and not once apologized to us for her behavior. My husband told them we understood any issue there may have been but in the future, only employees should handle these situations. She had no business approaching families, complaining that KIDS ruined her experience. We left confused as hell, unsure why the manager allowed this woman to approach his customers, numerous times, and stood next to her. I have never ever experienced anything like this and still remain confused by the entire interaction. I don't care if she used to run the place or own in, she truly had no business approaching families and teaming up with management and I feel the manager should have supported his customers not a previous employee. I am so disappointed by that experience.

new movies are usually available with available showtimes..the location serves alcohol..i recommend skipping though since there is no where else in the private location to attend..the pricing is dope & usually an almost empty theatre..downtown placerville is nearby..with bars open late..just be sure to have a service for pickup..walking is too far..theres plenty of parking & seating..

Had a horrible experience with this theater. My daughter and her friends got up to go to the bathroom a few times during the movie...she has a medical condition that requires her to use the restroom more frequently and she likes to go with a friend or two so that she isn't alone (most females tend to go in packs, as we all know). They weren't bothering anyone, as they were sitting toward the back of the theater and nobody was behind them, so they weren't blocking anyone's view as they quietly walked by to get to the lobby. At the end of the movie, as soon as the lights came on, an employee went over to them and told them that she had been watching them on the camera and they'd gotten up too many time to go to the bathroom, and they needed to leave the theater immediately. They kicked my 14 year old child outside in the cold and dark to wait for me to arrive and refused to allow her and her friends to wait for us in the lobby, or have access to the bathroom. I'm horrified and upset that they would choose to risk the safety of children because they "got up to use the bathroom too many times." My daughter was too embarrassed to explain that she has a medical condition, nor do I feel like she should have to. She was afraid, waiting in the dark outside, for me to pick her up. I will never send my child there again and I'd advise anyone who actually cares about their children, not to either. This isn't the first time that the staff has been rude and snappy to teenagers in there and I've witnessed it multiple times in person. Pretty foolish business model to chase off the majority of your patrons, especially since there's little else for kids to do on a Friday night in Placerville, but that's fine. I'll drive the fifteen minutes further to the Theatre in El Dorado Hills and give them our business instead. ?

Friday sep 9th. My 17 year old son and his friends accompanied by his aunt went in excited to see THE NUN. Their night was ruined by the rude staff. First they stated that they needed to be accompanied by someone 17 or older as it's a rated R movie. Understandable. My son showed his Ca ID. They woman quickly changed it and told them that they needed to be accompanied by someone who is 21 or older and they must stay the entire film. They pointed out the age requirements that were posted on the movie wall. The rude employee stood her ground and his aunt was just going to drop them off but them decided to stay so the boys night wasn't completely ruined. Employee then threatened his aunt that if she was to go to the restroom or leave the boy that they would kick the boys out. As his aunt was dropping them off she asked me to come swap with her. (This was ran by said employee) so I drove from shingle springs to Placerville to let these boys can enjoy a movie. then the boys decided 20 min after the movie started to get some drinks they were told they were closed. ( there were employees sipping there drink and eating popcorn standing around) I understand that is was probably the last showing and they wanted to head out for the night. She also probably thought that theses boys where going to be a disruptive but don't judge a book by a cover!!! There were 6 of us. I'm sure the owner would not like to hear that they are turning away business. We could easily gone to El Dorado Hills but decide to try out the newly remodeled theater. Well guess what ..... it was the worst experience !!!!! We really should have left but these boys have busy schedules and this was the only time for months that they can agree on a night!!!! I would give this zero stars if I can just for customer service!!!! I'm posting now as I haven't had a chance to sit down and write this up!!! I hope management retrains there staff!!

WOW! Placerville Cinemas is a treasure! I have gone to "The Movies" twice in 4 years....both times here. Love the friendly [personal] service offered by each employee. YESTERDAY 8/27/23 watched "Gran Turismo"....5 of us....all over age 65. The previews SO LOUD it almost hurt. When getting popcorn/drinks...asked two young gals at counter to ask "Please turn it down!" RACE CARS engines in movie WOULD BE TOO LOUD!Do you know....PLACÈVILLE CINEMA IMMEDIATELY DID SO? YES!. BEFORE we even returned to our seats!!!? Fantastic movie, fantastic recliners!

We are so thrilled with our local updated theater, seats and ability to pre-order tickets! An upgraded experience for our family, except for one thing. Our hearing impaired son needs a closed captioning device, but the one at this theater fails at some point during every movie experience. Very disappointing, frustrating and discouraging our use of this theater. Please, please upgrade the device!

Ever since the switched from a regal theater there's been numerous upgrades to the seating what they serve the quality of service they have I've been here quite a few times the last few weeks actually quite a bit. Another great upgrades is they now offer alcohol. I remember playing in the arcade when I was younger and for the sake of the youth hope to see that come back quickly but regal theaters took out there machines ? but they are in the process of getting there own and I'm excited to see what the put in there thank goodness that this property didn't go to waste and I think they actually have more business nowadays then the regal days. So grab your loved ones and go on down just took a three year old there not to long ago and it was easy going not to loud and not to overwhelming for her. We all know how taking the little ones to the theater can be difficult but we had a great time.

Comfy chairs, adequately lit walk ways, and they serve beer! I'm happy to still have a theatre in Town, but this new remodel really takes the cake.

Went to see Barbie last night (a movie that is all about color and visuals) in one of the smaller theaters (#3) and the movie was washed out, visible white vertical lines on the screen, and the left half was darker than the right. I tried to tune this out but visuals are half of the movie experience. Kind of shocked, to be honest.

I love the remodel it is really nice. The new chairs recline but only part way they don't go back enough. The new sound system is way too loud...we had to stuff paper napkins wadded up in our ears to tolerate it. It just doesn't need to be that loud. I did tell an employee but she said it is supposed to be that loud.
