Dr. Smith got me in last minute at her Carmichael office for an emergency with my green cheek conure, who consumed something while out playing that made her ill and very lethargic. I was extremely worried and anxious and Dr. Smith and the clinic's receptionists handled everything really well, with so much kindness and patience. She went above and beyond with testing to make sure I was confident in the diagnosis and it was safe to bring her home. It was also extremely affordable - I have been to both Roseville Bird and Pet Clinic and the UC Davis veterinary school and paid literally triple for much less. I could not thank or recommend Dr. Smith enough.

Dr. Smith helped save my cockatiels life. I’m glad I have a tele-health/virtual option as I live in a state that has a limited number of avian vets.

Our goose had a long term medical condition that ultimately forced us to make the difficult decision to have her euthanized. Dr. Smith and her staff were caring and sensitive about the situation. We could not have asked for a more gentle ending.

I live quite far from specialty avian clinics and needed a second opinion about my chickens. My husband had driven my sick chicken to my regular avian vet 2 hours away, they informed him that the hen needed a $3000 surgery or to be put down right away. I had some doubts about this and was very distressed, so I reached out with questions but they were not willing to call back or consult any further on the details of her condition or treatment. They wanted me to bring her in again and I didn't want to stress her out with that drive and feel pressured to euthanize. So I looked around for other avian vets and found that Dr. Smith does very prompt phone consultations for a reasonable rate. I can't believe I hadn't known about her before. She gave very straightforward, helpful advice which saved us many hours of internet research trying to figure out what is happening with our chickens. Of course, there are limits to what she can do without being able to see the bird but she asked important questions and helped troubleshoot likely situations. We have an appointment with a local vet tomorrow and I feel a lot better with the info I received from Dr. Smith who is an avian expert. I might not be able to save my chicken but I feel better knowing that I didn't give up on her right away. Since we are fairly remote it is a major blessing that Dr. Smith can consult in this way. Thank you so much!!

We saw Dr. Smith today for a check up on our 38 year old Amazon who seemed a little under the weather, and Dr. Smith was wonderful with him! He is definitely a "one person only" bird, and not easy to handle which had me stressed out bringing him in, but she handled him gently and with ease. She was able to examine him, trim his bill, nails, and wings, as well as take a culture and blood sample rather quickly. Dr. Smith was able to diagnose his sinus infection and vitamin a deficiency in office and get him started on a treatment plan. She made us feel very comfortable, and you could really tell she is extremely knowledgeable in what she does and cares about her patients well-being. I would definitely recommend taking your beloved feathered family member to Dr. Smith.

I took a chicken in today for sour crop. Dr. Smith was able to fit her into the schedule on short notice. She triaged the two possible underlying issues after examining all around the bird. Was prescribe two injection treatments which Dr. Smith took the time to thoroughly explain the administering process for. Was super helpful & friendly in ways you don't find anymore in traditional animal clinics. Continues to respect COVID protocols - which was nice to see. Went above and beyond. Thank you.

She is very experienced, knowledgeable and reasonably priced. She doesn't push for you to do expensive testing like some vets. She has provided excellent care to my chickens, pigeons and doves, and we are lucky to have her as a resource.

Dr. Smith is amazing. I can't say enough good things about her. She's awesome with our chickens and patient with me as I learn to navigate what needs medical attention and what doesn't. Most recently our girl Luella here had been very ill. Starting in November with an upper respiratory issue (maybe exacerbated by the fires) and ending up with an impacted crop situation. Luella was on meds twice a day from November through January basically. She lost a lot of weight and nothing we did seemed to work for her. We were facing the decision of putting her to sleep, when she miraculously started to recover the day after our last ditch effort to help her. Dr. Jeanne didn't give up and neither did we. Luella is doing so great, she's gained her weight back, her comb is red again (it was purple due to lack of oxygen before), and she's started laying eggs again. We're so grateful to have a vet like Dr. Smith to help us care for our flock.

I brought our pet bird, Sunny, to Dr. Smith not knowing she was on her death bed. Sunny had been hospitalized on 9/26/2020 and diagnosed with gastric yeast. The other vet discharged Sunny without giving her a single dose of Amphotericin B (their office was completely out of stock), and then sent me away with a prescription for it. The previous vet failed to tell me I'd have to go to a specialty pharmacy, and they are typically closed on the weekend. I also asked for medical instructions in writing, which I never received, so I was confused and very misinformed. Sunny had been tested for chlamydia, but results were still pending. I was sent home with Doxycycline and I assumed it was to treat the gastric yeast since that was the diagnosis. I thought Amphotericin B would be in case the chlamydia test came back positive. By Monday morning, Sunny wasn't eating or drinking again and Dr. Smith was able to get her in same day. Dr. Smith asked why she was on Doxycycline considering chlamydia results were still pending. It was then it hit me that my poor bird had not been receiving the medicine that could have saved her life. It was heartbreaking! Dr. Smith informed me how fatal gastric yeast is for birds (the other vet never mentioned this to me), and she prepared me for the worse. She didn't think Sunny would survive the night. Sunny ended up having a seizure. Dr. Smith helped her through the episode and was very gentle and caring. She also successfully administered the first Amphotericin B dose our poor baby bird had gotten since her previous hospitalization. Dr. Smith was personally going to take Sunny to her hospital facility in Diamond Springs and then take her home to watch over her through out the night. Sadly, Sunny passed away before they reached the hospital. Dr. Smith did everything she could to correct the negligence from the other vet, but Sunny was too far gone. You'd think with Dr. Smith offering to personally take Sunny home and driving her herself to the hospital facility that it would be VERY expensive, but she charged me 1/4 of what the other vet did and refunded unused services without me asking. The other vet didn't offer me a thing after learning of Sunny's death. I am very thankful to Dr. Smith for trying her best with Sunny. It offered us some comfort knowing Sunny's last day was in the hands of an experienced and loving vet.

1st time visit to Dr. Smith at her Fair Oaks Blvd. office with our easily scared, elderly (14+ year old) budgie for a check up. She was very good with him and gave me a recipe for glucosamine to add to his water for treating his arthritis. She is observing safe and practical COVID practices. The fee was very reasonable.
