John made a custom ring that I gave to my wife. It was a little bird of white gold with black diamond eyes and a gold crown. Although it was very dainty he amazingly managed to get the entire engraving in it - "KINGDOM LIFE - NO WORRIES MT 6:26". She was thrilled! It was a pleasure working with John, he promised to deliver exactly what I requested, and he did.

I went to this establishment to have my wedding ring done. I wanted to have a duplicate made of one of my grandparent's, and John was absolutely wonderful! He was practical and very no-nonsense when working with me in getting exactly what I wanted. I could not have been happier with the result! Reasonable wait time, and superb work!

I met John recently when I went to Goldsmith to get a replacement clasp for my delicate gold necklace. I was immediately struck by his kind, attentive, and gentle approach. There were some unusual circumstances surrounding how my necklace was damaged, and I was upset. John listened patiently; he was very understanding and I felt so much better when I left the store. Rarely does one experience this kind of customer service these days. Not only is John very skilled in jewelry repair, but he shows that he really cares about people and recognizes that it's not just about the jewelry...it's about the person wearing the jewelry. Thank you, John, for being so sweet and thoughtful! Oh, and one more thing...John did not charge me for the time he spent repairing my necklace, only for the replacement clasp. I really appreciate his generosity and kindness.

I brought in my mom's watch to see what it needed. John very kindly took it apart, examined it, and decided it was working fine. He gave me a lovely box for proper storage. When I asked what I owed, he declined payment! A nice experience!

What I thought would be a quick trip to get my new Rolex sized, instead turned out to be whole waste of my Friday. I first called John Friday morning to see if he was open, since Thursday was thanksgiving's. I asked John if he had time to size my Rolex. He first hesitated then said that he's busy but then said to come in anyways. That should had been my red flag but with his good reviews I went against my wife's intuition. When I arrived, I gave him my watch and he quickly removed one the links. The watch felt good to me but John wasn't happy with the way it looked on me and suggested removing one more link to better fit me. While he was removing the link I asked him if he could also adjust the EasyLink to the watch band. That's where the problems began. While adjusting the EasyLink, the band came apart, 2 very small glide locks came off the Easylink. He tried and tried to put it together again but he couldn't. He then went to another room and I guess he wanted to be left alone and concentrate on what he was doing. About 15 minutes or so he asked if I can leave his store and go for some coffee and come back. I told him that wasn't going to happened nor did I feel comfortable leaving his store without my Rolex. I reminded him, I was just there to get my watch sized and I didn't understand why it was becoming so complicated for him to do. He very rudely said, "dude, "it's a Rolex" it's not an easy watch to size. He made it seem somehow that his mistakes was the watches fault. He kept insisting for me to leave the store, about 5 times. At this point I demanded my watch back! I was very firm with him. I understand that he didn't want me to leave his store not happy, but he was being very rude about it. At this point me and my wife didn't feel comfortable with his services anymore and again I demanded my watch to be returned at once! We then decided to go to Heller Jewelry's in San Ramon. They are a AD of Rolex watches. When I showed them how I left John's store they couldn't believe what he had done to watch. They said it usually takes 10 minutes or less to size a Rolex watch and the Easylink should have never been pulled about they way it was. Since John removed the glide locks it most likely will cost me more then just getting my watch sized from them. I had to leave my watch with them so that their repair guy can fix it on Tuesday. My watch had to be put on queue. I should had come to Heller Jewelry's to begin with but live and learn I guess.

It's hard to find a good, honest jewelry repair shop, but I lucked out finding Prive in Pleasant Hill. Not only is the quality of work beautiful, but the owner John is so nice. I originally had gone in to have a watch repaired. John fixed, polished, and made look like new. I've gone back several times and more recently, I purchased a diamond ring. I wasn't seeing exactly what I wanted, so John offered to design and make it. He listened to what I wanted and made the most stunning setting. John is so very nice, patient, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend going to John at Prive. Thanks, John, for all you do, great work!

Added: What is written by the vendor is NOT what happened. Dishonest. I'm in shock. Stopped in (due to good reviews) for slight reshaping of my deceased mothers' wedding set band. He said he could make it thicker for $500/$600 and I said I would have to think about it. He proceeds to take it behind the wall, bangs on it then comes back out and....he BROKE it!!! Then he says, "We have to do it now!!". I swear he did it on purpose. Stay away!!
