We use SafeAmerica as a family and I am regretting it. Not only they disabled 2 of our cards without notification, they are CLOSED on the weekends when I am available from work.

Never open a checking account or credit card with this credit union. Not only did they disable my debit and credit card multiple times for literally no reason, they didn't even contact me via phone number or email letting me know that my card is disabled. You could literally try to buy something, and all of a sudden your card declines and you're confused because they did not contact you. I experienced this situation multiple times. I know they're trying to be safe with fraudulent transactions , but at least contact the person first before having to order a new card every time. It was a mistake to even open a checking account and a credit card with Safe headache America.

They make it purposely impossible to transfer YOUR money to an external account. I ended up with an account there due to a car purchase, and I've been trying to transfer my money ever sine I finished paying the car loan. THEY SUCK!

Today I went to make a deposit and this is the third time... when they count my money they tell me that the amount is less... and I ask them to rectify my money and then they say sorry they were wrong... I no longer trust of the people who work in this bank .. it is very unpleasant to have this problem .. I advise all people to count their money well before depositing and withdrawing their money, do not leave the branch without getting an answer

Stay away from this company. Had a car Loan with them. Paid it off months ago. Was sent proof it’s paid off, and they call me every night saying I’m late on payments and try to make me pay over the phone. I’ve sent emails, talked to multiple managers and they always say “it’s handled” and they just keep calling asking for money. At this point it’s harassment and fraud. Legal action is next.

I would like to bring your attention to the wonderful staff at your Hayward location. Ray and Laura in particular, are the reason I come inside this branch. I could use the ATM outside but then I wouldn't be able to visit with these nice ladies!

They just put up a new app. Tells me my info is wrong and will not sign in. My sign on name and password are correct. The old app was just a finger touch away. They fixed it.

We came in a safe credit union to make a car payment of $473.07. It was written on the slip the amount Mara, who is a teller there punched in $500 and refused to give my husband his change when he ask for it she said it was no way she can do that. She said she made a mistake and put in the wrong amount.Everyone knows when you overpay on the loan the extra money goes towards interest that’s just money lostI said we need that money, and they refused to give us the money back.CJ Acevedo said he would help us he type something in the computer and said I’m sorry there’s nothing I can do you need to call the credit union and we said are you refusing to give us our money back he said there’s nothing he could do and I told them you can’t just take our money. We need that change so that we can purchase My Husband’s California drivers license. We are seniors and fill abused and taken advantage of.My husband later called his credit union, which is called Safe told them what happened. They said that they should’ve given us the change it was Mara’s fault the teller kept saying she would be short, but it was OK to make your customers short?I told her (we are short now) we need our change back it’s our money they still have not given us our money Mara then asked us to step to the side until she could find someone to help us.She was more concerned about helping the next customerShe refused to give us our change back another guy came from out of the back and say call our credit union and get our money back. I told them to call our credit union themselves they made the mistake their credit union It’s just a branch where we can pay our car paymentso we had to pursue this futherwe are people of color. These people bully us as senior citizens. They should be ashamed of themselves. They just took our moneyWe also called another safe America credit union They said they should’ve given us back our money as well. Her drawer would’ve been short, but that’s her problem not oursI just knowI will never go there againdon’t go to America safe credit Union….Especially if you are a black, senior citizenThey showed no remorse!!!They just kept saying you call your credit Union and see if they can deposit that change back into your account!!!Pretty much insist that we just leave because they were not giving us our change back….we are DONE!!!!!!!

I purchased a car in September and went the dealer with a pre-approval from my credit union but the dealership steered me to this one offering lower payments by giving me an extra year to make payments. Two months after I took delivery of the car (and me trying to pay them twice) they didn’t process the loan claiming to be short staffed from Covid and that the loan agreement was void. They did however say that they would fund my loan at the new interest rate hike from 4% to almost 8%! The dealership lowered the cost of the car so my payments would be the same monthly and the deal was signed again. A down payment, three monthly payments, and submission of proof of AAA insurance later they sent me a bill for $6,000 claiming I didn’t have insurance! The loan officially started in November and I have had insurance since September when I took delivery of the car. Proof of insurance submitted AGAIN. Scam artists that make me regret not using my local credit union or even shady BofA. Do NOT go here!

I refinanced my home here in Brentwood and applied at other Credit Unions whom just took to long to begin the process and it kept asking for the same copies of documents. Out of a whim I decided to apply at Safe America Credit Union and I was treated as the most important customer they ever had - the application process was fast the document requests we're practical- and the processing was quick. I got a lower rate than what others were offering and I was able to get cash out- I was thrilled to death. The real estate department specifically Valina Batis and Rhonda Gonzalez were absolutely 100% amazing throughout the entire process. Infact after I funded and a few months went by I emailed them asking simple questions regarding my loan and they responded to me immediately. They did t refer me to the Customer Service 800# and they didn't tell me to go online for the answers. Even as today 12 months later I emailed them asking what my monthly minimum payment amount was since it changes and they quickly replied with a caring and professional answer. Safe America Credit Union is truly the best Credit Union who out performs any Bank and other credit unions out there. Thank you so much for making my financial needs possible and making me feel valued and appreciated

I wish I could leave zero stars for this credit Union. The customer service is HORRIBLE. I have had issues with my account since October 2022 and it's now February 2023. I have been passed around to multiple people saying they would take care of the issue and get back to me. It NEVER happens. I have dealt the most with Stacie, who is rude and blatantly stated she has too much to do to return emails and phone calls. Each month my credit takes a hit and they have assured me they would fix the issue. Still, no solution . I send many follow up emails with no response. I have also reached out to management via phone and email and no reply. I cannot wait to get this issue solved and leave this poor excuse for a business. Do not do business with them.

My mother is 89 and has Alzheimer's; most days she's non-compos mentis. I have power of attorney over her, and am in the (lengthy) process of getting conservatorship for her. She worked for Safeway Stores for decades, and has a pension that has been paid through SafeAmerica for decades as well.I have had occasion in the past to deal with SafeAmerica over her finances, and am mentioned in the notes on her account as being her son. I have ALL of her info (password, account number, PIN, etc.) and I had previously been accommodated by SafeAmerica once this information was provided.I recently discovered that she had been recycling her mail without opening it (as Alzheimer's patients are known to do) and among the mail in the recycling bin were 6 months' worth of benefit checks (from another pension she gets). So I caught her in a rare moment of lucidity to get her to sign the checks, and brought them into SafeAmerica's headquarters in Pleasanton to deposit them (over $4,000 worth). The tellers were helpful and professional, but because my mother's account had gone a few hundred dollars into the red due to monthly automatic debits that weren't being covered by those undeposited checks, they put a 7 working-day hold on that $4,000 (which happened to coincide with Christmas). I asked, but the manager declined to remove or expedite this hold, despite there being no question that the $4,000 in checks was good (coming from Navia Benefits Solutions, a major disburser of retirement benefits). This was strictly a punitive move by SafeAmerica; they were punishing her for her account being in the red. All-told, it took 12 days for the hold to be released. Again -- not because of Navia; because of SafeAmerica (and holiday banking days).Once the funds were finally released, I withdrew $600 on the two following days, since *I* had been paying for her bills out of my pocket during this period of not having access to funds. On the 3rd day, I was at a Walgreen's, buying some medications for her and the card was declined; a $20 purchase, when there was $4,300 in her checking account. Of course this had to happen on a Friday night. And I could not find any way to contact the main location in Pleasanton by phone, even during business hours. There was no reason for the card to be flagged. I could understand if it was being used in a different state, or even a different part of California, to try to make a large purchase, but it was being used for a small purchase in the city my mother has lived in for 62 years. So there was simply no reason for it to raise any suspicions of it being an unauthorized transaction.Being after 8pm the customer service department was closed, so there was nothing I could do. The next day, Saturday, Dec. 31 I called to speak with an agent, but the woman refused to help in any way due to "privacy issues", despite the fact that she could see me mentioned by name in my mother's account's notes, and I offered to provide any information needed. I tried calling again, thinking that I had just gotten one particularly officious person, but no: the second one was no more helpful. Again, I was asking for *nothing* for myself; just to reassure them that the "flag" their system threw was false, and that all was OK. One would think they would be relieved to hear this, but no; they insisted that they could only speak with her -- an elderly woman who on most days doesn't even know my name. So why a 4-star review? Because -- much to my astonishment -- within a day of my posting my review here a representative from SafeAmerica contacted me and offered to help. He didn't offer to help contingent upon my removing or changing my review; he strictly wanted to help. On the next business day he had a representative from the headquarters in Pleasanton contact me (Colin), and he spent probably 45 minutes going over everything to get the problems straightened-out, one by one. I was treated respectfully and cordially, and after providing SafeAmerica with the necessary

Evil company. Just sent me a bill trying to get me to pay over 1000$ claiming I didn’t have insurance and they had to buy insurance to cover for my vehicle over 3 months ago even though I submitted proof of insurance to them They make minimum effort to reach out to you and help you resolve anything. Avoid this Credit Union. Immoral thiefs
