Valley Humane Society (VHS) is a private, nonprofit 501(c)3 animal welfare organization located in Pleasanton, CA. Envisioning a world in which every animal is loved and every person knows the love of an animal, VHS has served the Tri-Valley since 1987. VHS creates a brighter future for cats and dogs by encouraging and strengthening the bond between people and pets through lifesaving rescue and adoption programs, children's humane education, AniMeals pet food pantry, Canine Comfort pet therapy, Paws to Read, volunteer opportunities, and other programs and services. Valley Humane Society is funded primarily by private donations and does not receive government funding, tax dollars, or money from national humane organizations. Reviewers have expressed deep appreciation for the care, love, and thoughtfulness of the VHS staff, who they describe as friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The facilities are said to be beautiful and the services exceptional, with animals receiving excellent care and being microchipped and vaccinated before adoption. The adoption process is reported to be easy, with no unnecessary obstacles. Adopters have left with healthy, happy pets, and the waiving of adoption fees during the holiday season has been welcomed. Volunteers also praise the cleanliness and organization of the facility, as well as the staff's genuine care for the animals.
