The historic Point Arena Light Station #496 celebrates its 155th Anniversary in 2025! Climb to the top of the tallest Lighthouse on the coast daily and explore the 1896 Fog Signal Building housing the Light Station Store and Museum. Surrounded by water on 3 sides and adjacent to the Point Arena/Stornetta Unit of the California Coastal National Monument, the Point Arena Lighthouse is the premier visitor destination in Mendocino County. It is also one of the best whale watching spots with annual gray whale migration from late November through May, humpbacks throughout the year, and even the occasional pod of transient killer whales and blue whales. Lodging is available in the historic Keeper's cottages. Visitors can enjoy beautiful views of the coast, take great pictures next to the lighthouse, and explore the lighthouse museum's shell collection. Overall, the Point Arena Lighthouse offers a great, relaxed coastal experience.

Historic lighthouse that has a fantastic tour that allows you to see the immense view from the top of the lighthouse and the tour was very informative and the gift shop has a lot of things to pick out from if you want that kind of keepsake to take, but no matter what take the tour and enjoy the view
