This a serene, peaceful getaway spot. The rooms have a vast view of native fields, the hills of Inverness and peeking out in the distance, the water of Tomales Bay. No houses, no cars, no construction, just birdsong and breezes. Deer families graze on the property, hawks fly overhead. Mist comes in off the hills at the sunset...this is a restful place.Mamie is a gracious host. The spacious rooms are comfortable, with generous seating by the window for gazing, writing, reading, drawing...There are only 3 rooms so even with a full house there is solitude available. The inn is a few minutes drive from Point Reyes which has groceries and several cafes / restaurants. There are several seafood spots up the coast which are fresh and memorable.EV drivers take note, there is a Tesla Supercharger station 10 minutes south of here in the parking lot of Due West Tavern / Olema house.Amenities: fast Internet, coffee pot with coffee/tea, fridge, microwave, full dish set, TV, robe.

The hotel and property are fantastic, with incredible views of Tomales Bay and the surrounding hills from the panoramic windows and expansive deck. Conveniently located, exceptionally quiet and peaceful. The rooms lack bathtubs, but that's honestly the only complaint I can come up with. On the pricey side, but well worth it.

The views from the window and the wraparound balcony are unforgettable. We wake up the the chirping of birds and the hooting of an owl. A heron flies up from the pond, which is accessed over a little bridge and flecked with lily pads. In the distance, across rolling grasslands, we can see Tomales Bay, with Point Reyes beyond.Everything's been thought of in the spacious rooms. Mamie, the owner, has been a kind and gracious and thoughtful host.

This hotel is perfect. Large, extremely spacious rooms. Great view, with a short hiking distance to Tomales Bay views. Quiet place, with animals roaming in the area. (We saw a deer on the porch.) I could speak forever about this inn, but I won't.

I've cycled a lot around Point Reyes and taken many one-day road trips, but I've never really explored the area extensively due to a lack of time. That recently changed thanks to the recent overnight accommodations provided by the Black Heron Inn.Located in Point Reyes Station, about a 5-minute drive from downtown, it's the perfect place to stay when exploring Point Reyes. I had done quite a bit of research on accommodations in the area, but the options seemed to either be way too expensive or way too "patchouli" for my taste. The Black Heron Inn was the perfect fit for me and my wife. They have three guest rooms, and due to the lack of availability of the other rooms, I selected the Grand View Suite. And what a "Grand View" it was. My strong suggestion is not to plan too much during the late afternoon because you'll want to open a bottle of wine and enjoy the view from the outdoor deck or the dining room table before heading off to dinner for some oysters. The clean and well appointed rooms have a small refrigerator, a small microwave, and a toaster as well as dishes and silverware, so make sure to bring some ready to eat food with you to store in the room since food is not provided. We personally picked up some breakfast savories and sweets from Brickmaiden Breads, and our mornings were set. Coffee is provided along with a Cuisinart Coffee maker. If you don't like your coffee black or enjoy creamers, be sure to pack some milk for the fridge. The proprietors are pretty hands-off when it comes to guest interaction (which is just fine), but they are very responsive if necessary. One thing I did learn while talking to them briefly was that they have a lot of repeat customers. Based on our recent stay, I can see why!

A wonderful, old-school B&B right next to a nature preserve in Marin County and very close to the Point Reyes and the charming Point Reyes Station town. The room and views were amazing, with long hikes nearby and some kind hosts (they accommodated us for a vegan meal). I would highly recommend this B&B!

A lovely stay all around. Great location with stunning views, close to Point Reyes Station and lots of hikes/nature attractions. The room was private, clean and had excellent amenities - exactly as advertised. Would recommend to anyone looking for a romantic and scenic weekend getaway!

Spectacular view, peaceful and good aesthetics of room interior. The hosts are responsive and provide good service. The location is good, though initially a little tricky to find, worth the perseverance. Everything was clean and the room was nicely appointed for a light breakfast.

The room (Grand View) was perfectly clean, spatious, very quiet. Nice bathroom. The well-stocked mini kitchen made it easy to have a low-hey dinner in the room. The view is perfect, looking out onto the rolling hills around Tomales Bay. The hotel is very well maintainted, with a lovely flower garden and pond, and deer grazing by. The self check in is very convenient. A full hearted recommendation.

We had a lovely two days staying in the spacious Bay View room. The view is truly beautiful and we enjoyed walking in the adjacent meadows the late afternoon. We left no leftovers from the delicious pumpkin bread and banana bread provided to us, and we appreciated the great selection of teas and both milk and cream options. The inn is quite close to Pt. Reyes Station, but we felt as if we were miles away and well-situated in nature.

After a lovely weekend in the Grand View Suite, my wife and I have nothing but positive things to say about the Black Heron! Both the inn and its surroundings were gorgeous, from the pond, to the garden, to the expansive view of the bay and our room itself. We enjoyed seeing quail, a few peaceful cows in the nearby field, and even some deer grazing around the driveway. From the cozy little alcove in our room and the big deck just outside it, we also watched clouds roll in as the sun dip below the Inverness ridge in the evening. The room was spotless and had an abundance of space, many charming touches, and plenty of breakfast items to fuel a full day exploring the area. With its location on the outskirts of Point Reyes Station, the inn was an ideal point of departure for adventure and an equally perfect place to recharge afterwards.Last but not least, check-in was a breeze, check-out was the same, and we barely heard a peep from anyone else in the house. Even if the hosts and neighbors were more visible, we wouldn't have minded! There's more than enough peace, tranquility, and natural wonder here to enjoy with others who seek it out.

We just spent three wonderful nights in the Ridge View room. This makes our 6th stay at the Black Heron Inn. It is our go to place whenever we stay in the Pt. Reyes area. The room is quite spacious and it has a wonderful view of the hills, mountains and bay, both from the large picture window and from the deck outside the room. And we really love the pond. The room was exceptionally clean. We loved all of the fruit and coffee and teas and the wonderful breads that were provided. We did miss the granola that was provided on our prior visits. We will continue to stay here every time we visit the area.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Black Heron Inn. So close to the city, yet so far away. A true West Marin treasure!
