Sue seems to be mentally challenged as she had a breakdown and shouted at some customers while my boyfriend and I were shopping. We were concerned for our safety and left quickly.

Owner is mental and should not be running a store. Blew up at my friend randomly in a conversation. Made it super uncomfortable and the store was very crowded and overpriced.

1 star would be generous, I would leave 0 if I could. A friend and I stopped here on a warm sunny afternoon after visiting a museum nearby, $3000 cash in hand and ready to spend some money. We were looking at some unpriced model buildings for the garden which the owner had for sale. She mentioned she had some more at home. I asked her if she lived nearby as we were only in town for the day. She glared at us and said "you're starting to piss me off". Ok? Sorry for trying to spend money. I tried to make conversation so I told her they were pretty cool and she should set them up in the garden, as we had done if she didn't want to sell them. She then snapped at me and yelled "HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF SNOW!!!?" Still hoping to make a deal and calm her down, I responded by suggesting she would probably rather relax inside with a hot drink. She then got aggressive and said "what's your f****** deal guy?". She apparently thought we still wanted to spend money and then gave me a price on the buildings, higher than NEW MSRP. I politely responded, "No thanks, we're going to leave." In awe of the unprofessional and frankly psychotic nature of this woman, I rounded up my friend to leave. I told him I would be leaving a review as we walked out the door thinking the drama was over. The owner then chased us down the ramp outside, shouting "f*ck you, go f*ck yourselves! I don't know who the f*ck you think you are, it's a long f*cking day, I don't want to hear your bullsh*t. The woman should be in a mental hospital, not running a junky overpriced shop where she abuses customers and triggers/breaks down for seemingly no reason. We were happy to take our cash elsewhere. Our experience was on par with some of the other reviews on Google.

Was passing through for a day and stopped in because the outside looked so inviting with the lovely garden, yard decor and because I'm a s***** for thrift shops. This was a fun one to stop into-she has a diverse array of items especially if you're a bit of an upscale hippy like myself (lol). More than anything I enjoyed conversing with the owner, as she was not only helpful but spunky and FUN. I would recommend stopping in for yourself or perhaps to pick up a gift.

I highly recommend this vibrantly fun and reasonably priced thrift boutique. The owner is kind, helpful and engaging. Her clothing is well displayed - easy to access. The clothing is FABULOUS! For the tiny town of Portola, THE GRATEFUL DAWG is an authentic and celebratory expression of clothing, crystals, vintage-y stuff/collectibles. I love my adorable & comfortable overalls. Highly recommend.

What a charming shop! It's packed full of wonderful vintage finds! Clothing, crystals, jewelry, housewares all from decades past. Everything is in remarkable condition and priced so well. If you haven't checked out the Grateful Dawg yet you gotta get over and see this shop. It's my new favorite!
