The engine light was on, I needed to get my smog check done, I authorized Kim Frye the owner to run a diagnostic test to find the problem instead she did the smog check and failed before doing the diagnosis test also wanted to charge me for a part that wasn't needed , she also replace injection plugs that I did not authorized , also fail to provide the start time and end it the labor fee since she changes by the hour and wanted me to pay ahead of time for a part that my car never needed to begin with, she used intimidation and kept changing the prices without my knowledge didn't return my car on time and Kept postponing the delivery date of when my car was going to be ready also very similar problem with previous customers. I will be reporting this to the bar.ca.gov but also will be taking a legal action against this CON ARTIST the owner KIM FRYE

Always a fair price, know what they are doing and sometimes no charge when they could have billed us for something more exotic that did not really happen. Good place if you know nothing about vehicle repair and need someone you can trust.

Its a small town, most people know most people, so you can trust most shops up in Ramona. Went here most recently to have an axle shaft get an ol bearing off and new pressed on, was done quickly while I ran errands in town, got a call when it was done. Price was fair for today's standards, and as simple a task it was, still tipped my mechanic.

We took our 1959 GMC Truck into Dave's Auto Truck & RV Service on April 13th, 2023. They called us on August 9th to tell us it is ready to pick up. That is 4 days shy of 4 months! Let that sink in… 4 months!Work performed was both front wheel bearings, and both rear wheel bearings and axle seals. 8 hours of labor listed on the bill. 4 months to do 8 hours of labor. Working on it 1 hour a week it would have been done in 2 months. Why did it take 4 months? We were told at the time of pick up that it was “not a daily driver”. That should have no bearing on when they work on it. When we took it in we asked for it to be done in 3 weeks, they did say it could take a little longer. They kept putting other customer vehicles ahead of ours, over and over again. Even though I would call every week to try and move things along. We eventually found out that there was one technician that was working on the truck and that he also did all the smog inspections and ran the whole shop. Poor guy, he sounds overworked. We called 29 times in those four months to find out the status, but they were never able to tell me. We were always always told “let me go check and I’ll call you back”, there was never a return call. Finally I was told that they will only call back if there is something to report. So only when work was authorized at the beginning and only when the truck was ready, 3 times in 4 months did they call us. This work was done in preparation to sell the truck. We told Dave’s this when we took it in. I had put an ad up and anticipated a 3 week repair, 4 weeks at the most. And as such we had buyers lined up a few weeks later to buy the truck. All of those buyers are long gone and now we have to re-list the ad and go through the whole process again. We want to submit and open a case with the Bureau of Automotive Repair to look into it, but understand that time is an issue they cannot really enforce. We still may contact the BAR, we’ll see.The bottom line is that communication from Dave’s was very very poor, especially when keeping a customer vehicle for 4 months. If a customer states that they need the vehicle in 3-4 weeks then they should work to get it done in that time, no matter what.

If I could give negative stars I would. VERY rude, shady, & has very poor communication. Go somewhere else unless you want to be overcharged

They did what they said they would....did not charge me for a inflated repair. Highly recommended for fair service.

I was charged for replacing parts that was never performed. This auto-shop has no integrity. It is in your best interest to go else where.

Called Dave’s auto & RV to get work done on my generator. I told them it was quitting after about 15 seconds of operation and ask them how much it would be to diagnose and service the generator. They quoted me $60 plus any fluids needed. Called me later that day and said they had to do work on the carburetor too and the cost would be $270. I reluctantly agreed to the price, picked it up brought it home started the generator and it still quit after about 15 seconds! I brought it back again and they called me back saying it would be $1200 to replace the control module! Their office manager said I would’ve had to pay for the service anyway so what’s the issue? How about diagnosing the problem upfront and providing me a reasonable estimate instead of charging me along the way until you figure out what the problem is? I highly suggest using another business.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I came into the shop needing help with a broke down vehicle nearby and they helped immediately even pushed my car from the shopping center to their shop so I could save tow money. I have nothing but good things to say for the services they provided and the strong customer service I received they helped me throughout the service, gave me status updates regularly and gave me an extremely fair deal and went above the fixed part and fixed my power steering problem on top of the service for free and now my car feels like a whole new car !!!!! :)I'm extremely greatful to have gotten such excellent service and best part was no wait time for the diagnostic and fix it was immediate accurate and fixed right and got it back next day.. you can't get that anywhere else in town!!!!!Thanks again to everyone at the shop you made it a pleasant experience I highly recommend going here and will come back for future fixes. Thanks again to everyone at the shop I rate this 6 stars out of 5Service: Steering & suspension repair

I took my SUV in there for repairs, they told me I would need a new transmission so I should just get rid of it or buy a car from them and put my car towards the amount they'll be charging. I decided not to and I wanted the problem fixed, after months of them telling me they cannot fix the problem they finally told me I can come pick my car up. I told them since I drove it to their shop and now I need to tow it out of the shop because after they worked on it it stopped running so two weeks later I managed to get the tow truck in order and went to go pick up my vehicle and they told me they had it towed to a junkyard with no calls to me to give me a heads up or nothing. At least a courtesy call saying hey we're going to get rid of your car if you don't pick it up or something along that nature would suffice. But I got absolutely no notice.

Living in Ramona Dave's was convenient for servicing my motorhome and Kim convinced me she could get warranty to pay for the transmission seal leak (I have power train warranty and an extended warranty on top of that). A year later and after many lies about it being submitted / in review I still haven't received the $2500 I am owed.
