Unfortunately I never caught her name but I do believe she may have been a branch manager or supervisor of types because when I called and asked my question I was passed on to this lady whom made me seem like I was a fraudulent and fake check maker. You need to reevaluate your management here if that is who she is because that is just unbelievable to even think that way, especially about me and the way that she made me feel was absolutely disgusting! Literally tells me the easiest way for me to cash a check in my certain situation is to have them re-issue a new one and wait six weeks when I had already offered to bring the two forms of ID that she was like or you can do this. I have no idea what goes on with peoples brains I just know that a lot of them need to start working.

Been with this bank over 21 years. Got it only because when I started a new job they had there checks out this bank. But I've stuck with thus smaller bank because the service is excellent and still is. We've always had a Bof A account but the great staff and overall service can't be beat ny any bank.

Best bank in the world. This is NOT an exaggeration, I prefer local banking. I have been with Westamerica for 35 years. Excellent customer service, no problems, no fees and none of the BS you get from BA, WF, or CHSE. Just another benefit of supporting local business and living within my circle of reach.

So I opened my bank account about 18 years ago. At some point I got married and changed my last name. I brought my marriage certificate in to make sure my new last name was on the account since I no longer had an ID with that last name. As the years went on I found myself not really using the account anymore. I closed the checking account, but kept savings open. We moved and I went into this bank to cash a random check I had received. I was told that I had to bring my marriage certificate in next time since it was not on the account. Not a big deal, but was odd that after all the years it wasn't on there. Brings me to today. I was told today I didn't need to bring it in, but then they did copy it. I had added the online account a few months ago and should have read better. I mistakenly didn't sign up for the e-statement, so I was charged $4. I started thinking maybe it was time to close the account especially since I never use it. I had two checks needing to be cashed, so I brought them with me. One was a refund from Synchrony bank (I had over paid a bill) and the other was a refund from a major company (from a chase account). Anyways I was told that I'd had to have a 5 day hold on the check (mind you the one check was under $20). I decided 100% in that moment I was closing the account. Just was crazy that I couldn't cash an under $20 check after banking with them for 18 years (and never had any issues, never went over, nothing). It did seem like the woman who spoke to me made it seem as she'd be doing me some favor even cashing the check after a 5 day hold. Not a big deal can deposit into mine and my husband's account. Just crazy and a weird experience. Only was in this specific branch office twice and neither time would I recommend. Literally will never be back.

Teller had to call to confirm on a payroll check from my work. A check from the same bank. After I've been there 3 weeks in a row. Something totally unnecessary. I'm pretty sure it had to do with my ethnicity as no other people who were there of the same race got this sort of special treatment

West America, worst... bank... ever! RUN AWAY!! Customer service always talks down to you like they are doing you a favor, just horrible. I went online, like always do to make sure my direct deposit went through. I was looking at a zero balance, wait, what? My account was closed with no notice; how about a letter, phone call, text or email? They claimed it was a computer error and snipely told me to call about the direct deposit that it was not their problem but yet they caused said problem. Not to mention I had been banking with them for 20 years and as stated above the fees are just horrendous. Also would like to add I found out about this yesterday when I was at the store picking up Thanksgiving dinner but my card was declined and hence no dinner for today, way to go Westamerica! Thank you so much, you guys just suck big time!
