1st time, looking for a church for our kids. Good children's ministry. We Don't live here. Would have liked worship to be longer without interruptions. Bob the pastor, good message. Like their Christmas outreach programs they are having. Would go back with our kids. A bit far and large for us older folks. To God be the glory, right?

LOVE attending this church. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. The most important thing to me is the teaching. It is solid! The lead Pastor, Bob Botsford is engaging and so effective in teaching the Bible. You can tell he is fully committed to teaching the WHOLE Bible. He’s not afraid to talk about the hard things, no PC here. All of the pastors that I’ve personally heard teach are passionate about God.Their women’s bible study is SO GOOD! I have learned so much. It’s truly been a lifeline. Gifted women who serve others well by teaching straight from Gods word, wrapped in love.So many life groups you can join, cycling, hiking, crafting and more.I don’t work there nor do I have a family member who is affiliated. I am just a woman who has found an amazing place to grow and I am so grateful.

My neighbors were both teachers at Horizon Prep. They moved away a couple years back but had told me at the time pastor Bob was making $250k a year. Not sure if that was just base salary and if in addition, other typical benefits like a car & housing allowance, medical insurance, per diem, etc would bump up his compensation even more. Either way, I found that news absolutely appalling. I remember Bob giving a sermon on "Servant Leadership" years ago. Some "servant" if he really takes that kind of money. Last I heard, and I don't go there anymore so I can't confirm the rumor, was that he was grooming his son to take over as head pastor some day. For that kind of money, why not!

It's painful for me to write this. 6 years ago my wife was pregnant and we had just moved to North County. Someone recommended HCF to us and we fell in love with the church. We wanted to get involved so we volunteered both in children's ministry, coffee service, and others. Going through life struggles, we had sought help from the staff and I was immediately no longer allowed to volunteer. I've been on a rocky journey to restoration, forgiveness, and repentance since then, but never once was told I could volunteer again, and receive an awkward hello from one of the assistant pastors. As years went by, I also noticed that an overwhelming amount of staff members became more terse, less friendly, and less welcoming. I started noticing these dismissals from some of the volunteers as well. My wife used to confide in a certain lady in the staff and communicated to her regularly until one day she tells me that this one particular female staff member "ghosts" her or isn't very engaging with her anymore. I've even noticed a shifting of behavior to the kid's church staff. Now that my kid is at the age to be checked in, he seemed more like an inconvenience, while the staff looked upon us as parents either judgingly, dismissively, or condescendingly. I'm not exactly sure when the shifting of behavior occurred, but sometimes it feels like I wear a scarlet "A" on my chest. All this while trying to maintain our faith in God, our recognition that we are fallible humans, and being involved. It honestly feels like a slap in the face that SO MANY staff members just give us the cold shoulder as if we aren't welcome there any longer. We will not be attending this church too much more. Pastor Bob has a wonerful heart and I think his faith is earnest. His staff however, has turned into a church version of "Mean Girls".

Holy Self Righteousness! Old school Bible misinterpreting foolishness.

The worship music has been dreadful for several months now. Out of tune and out of key, am I the only one who notices? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Recently I purposely show up late so I can skip the singing - it's that bad. Surely the church can afford a better worship band. As for the sermons, they're alright. I actually like the politics. The sermons can just be hard to follow at times, but the doctrine is sound. The congregation is friendly but you really have to try really really hard if you want to get involved. Nobody will really approach you otherwise. Overall it's a beautiful church campus with sound doctrine, but please get new singers!!!!!

Senior Pastor Bob is a very good speaker and dresser, but he adds his very conservative political views. His other message is Bible based.
