I decided to check out BevMo Rancho Santa Margarita's reviews on Yelp to see if anyone else had a horrible experience at this store, like I did yesterday. Sure enough, there are similar reviews of HORRENDOUS customer service at this store. This is what happened to me: As I walked in the store yesterday, there was an African-American man standing behind the counter, with no customers. I had four items to purchase, and I thought it would be easier to locate them if he gave me an idea as to where to look. I asked him, "Hi. Can you guide me as to where I might be able to find these items?" I showed him my phone screen. I shop for customers through InstaCart, and the app does not tell me where the items are located in the store. Since I'm on a very limited time to shop because I'm being monitored by InstaCart, it is helpful to get an idea of where to look. Well, the man went completely irate on me. He started yelling at me, telling me that my job as an InstaCart shopper was to find the items myself. I reminded him that since he worked there and was doing nothing, it was part of his job to guide customers as to the whereabouts of certain items, since there are so many different bottles to search from. He would not stop yelling and going beserk. He rudely and with disdain yelled and pointed, "The whiskey is right there! The tequila is over there, and you know where the beer is in the back!" WOW! Was it necessary to respond like that? It felt like he was ready to bring out a rifle and start shooting me! I found the four items and proceeded to the register, afraid of what else was waiting for me. Since I had only a few items, I asked him if it would be OK to leave them in the basket so he could scan the bar code. At this question, he went complete beserk on me again. He went on to lecture me angrily that I was shopping for a third party, but that I should shop like any other customer and place the items on top of the counter. I told him that some stores are OK with leaving the items in the basket, and that I was simply asking, and did not want to engage in a fight with him, since there was no need to fight over this. He would not reason with anything I had to say. He was adamant to yell at me, treat me with disdain, and humiliate me as much as possible. It did not matter that another customer was right behind me or that another customer was walking towards the register. Then he yelled angrily, before checking out the items, "You know, we don't have to do this!" Meaning that he did not have to sell me the items. Wow! He knew I had to purchase the items for the third party through InstaCart. The customer was waiting for her order, so I could not just cancel it. Wasn't it his job to scan the items? Maybe it wasn't his job to guide me as to where the merchandise was located in the store, but it was definitely his job to scan the items so I could leave! He was telling me to act like any other customer, but he was most definitely NOT treating me like he treats any other customer. Or was he? Now that I think about it, and based on the other reviews here, I guess this is how they treat some of their customers. They have completely crossed the line and become a threat to public safety. I left the store feeling like I had just left a war zone. I was grateful that things had not escalated to the point of him punching me in the face or shooting me, but it felt very close to it. Yikes! What a nightmare! It's hard to believe that this stuff actually happens in this quiet city. Unbelievable! I actually feel like going to the police or BBB to report them. Nobody deserves to be put through such a stressful situation.

Good selection of alcohol, mixers, accessories, and more. Has most of what you'd expect but still missing a lot of types of alcohol. Usually only one register is open, unfortunately.

I want to give a huge shoutout to Mikey Mike for helping me and my manager for over half an hour to gather up bottles of liquor for our bar & grill! he was very patient in helping me locate every item off my list. thank you Mikey Mike for the great customer service ??

I love this establishment and their employees. The minute you walk in, they greet you. Everything is organized and easy to locate. Checking out is also a great experience because they are very friendly. Thumbs up especially to their staff.

I have been a loyal ClubBev member for over 7 years at this point, shopping at BevMo at least once a month during that time. Today (4/22/2023), I had a very negative experience at the Rancho Santa Margarita store. My wife and I went to the store planning to use the $10 off $75 coupon that was emailed to me, valid through this Sunday, 4/23/2023. We purchased enough merchandise to qualify for the discount, but apparently the ClubBev system wasn't working and the coupon that we provided didn't register. We tried multiple different options with the cashier who was very patient and customer-service oriented, but it was clearly not working due to an issue on the BevMo system's end. The cashier then called over the (male) manager (didn't get his name), who tried the same things the cashier did, and it still didn't register the coupon. At that point, we asked for him to honor the discount as it was clearly an issue with their system. He then stated "I suppose I'll give you the discount, but only THIS TIME." My wife and I immediately responded with a concern that the issue was with BevMo, and not us. We didn't do anything wrong - the coupon was valid, the amount was valid and your system wasn't working. For the manager to caveat his statement with "THIS TIME" implied that we were in some way trying to scam BevMo or weren't entitled to the discount. I mean, c'mon, we have better things to do than make up fake BevMo coupons for goodness' sake. The manager then didn't correct himself or in any way meaningfully apologize. We were treated as if we were scammers or criminals, and as a result, my wife and I are EXTREMELY disappointed and frustrated with our experience. This is not what I would expect as a ClubBev customer at a high-end, expensive (overpriced, dare I say?) liquor store. I've sent a separate note to BevMo corporate regarding this experience, but I expect very little to nothing being done about it, given the experience I and my wife had at the store today.

For someone who does not drink, He spent a lot of time walking me through the different kinds of tequila, what the difference is between the brands, and his selections. I greatly appreciate his patience, bubbly attitude, and thorough knowledge about the products.Thank you Jason, you made this experience so enjoyable and would totally come back to get your help again for future recommendations!
