I'm not sure if I was simply unlucky, but I recently had a rather unusual interaction with the staff at your facility. Our 11-year-old son participated in a trial jiu-jitsu practice, and afterward, he was quite upset. According to him, another student repeatedly punched him in the throat while sitting on top of him. We didn't immediately discuss this with the staff, as he only mentioned it once he came home.We had originally planned to return and enroll him for a longer period, but before doing so, I wanted to inform the staff about the incident and gain their perspective. Additionally, I was curious about the possibility of canceling the membership and receiving a refund for the remaining fees if such incidents persisted. The staff's response was defensive, asserting that such incidents do not occur at the gym. They suggested that it might be considered normal in this type of setting, insinuating that perhaps we were not accustomed to it. However, the situation is that our son has been practicing jiu-jitsu for over a year at a different gym, and I myself have over a decade of experience in martial arts.Ultimately, the conversation ended with the gym informing us that we were not welcome as members and suggesting that we find a different gym due to our poor initial experience. This wasn't at all the outcome I was looking for; I simply wanted reassurance that the safety of the students was a priority. On a more positive note, I did observe that the practice sessions appeared to be well-focused on physical conditioning and technique. It's possible that my encounter occurred on an off day for the staff.

I tried this spot out last night for the Muay Thai class. I have never taken a Muay Thai class before and made that very clear to the front desk and to the instructor. They were so patient and went above and beyond to make me comfortable. Fight training of any kind can be very intimidating, especially when. you look around the room and everyone looks like they know what they're doing. I was made to feel very comfortable and safe. As far as the class went, it was RAD! The instructor had me focus on myself and my form. He never put me in any situation where I wasn't ready for. In fact he gave me drills to just keep practicing and then would come and check on me and when I was ready he gave me a new move. I really appreciated the patience and the immediate safety/comfort I felt.

Certainly a place worth visiting, the food is excellent and fresh, the cost is reasonable and it is consistently well kept here. Great work.

This is solely based on their email skills. I asked the for the rates for adults and children. They replied with "Yes , we are open" and proceeded to tell me their schedule..... what???? To simplify the question I asked "How much?" crickets.... Why is it so hard to get pricing?

Black House MMA is an amazing Yelp find. If I could give Black House MMA ten stars, I would. From the world class instruction and clean facility to the convenient location, Black House has exceeded my expectations. I was a bit intimidated about training at Black House, but the students, staff and coaches greeted me with a warm welcome and have made me feel comfortable. No matter what your goals are, Black House is for you. Want to lose weight? Stay in shape? Learn effective self-defense techniques? Train like a fighter? Compete on an amateur or professional level? Or maybe you just want to be healthy and live a more active lifestyle. Whatever your goals are, Black House will help you maximize your potential and achieve your goals no matter what your level is. They offer classes for men, women and kids (the kids program is top notch - teaching discipline, respect, teamwork, confidence, just to name a few). For me, I came to Black House wanting to learn self defense and to get into the best shape of my life in my 40s. What sets Black House from other gyms is their world class instruction. The coaches who teach here are the same coaches that train some of best MMA fighters who have fought and currently fight in some of the biggest promotions in the world like UFC and Bellator. Behind every great fighter is a great coach. I highly suggest and recommend private training with Black House's head coach Kenny Johnson who is also the founder of world renown "Bolt Wrestling." His style of training is dynamic, challenging, and FUN! Because of his training, I am in the best shape of my life. The best part about training at Black House is their positive and FUN atmosphere. The Black House community is welcoming and receptive to any and all skill levels and fitness levels. Their members and students embrace each other as they train together to achieve their personal goals with the guidance of their world class professional coaching staff. Give Black House a try! Ask for a complimentary trial class or maybe even two :) Membership dues are worth every penny - you won't regret it!

Great Muay Thai gym! As someone who knew nothing about MT before going in, the class was very welcoming to my beginner level. The coaches and other gym members will help you improve and challenge you to push your skills to the next level. You have the privilege of training with other fighters who fight professionally in MMA and Muay Thai, and it never feels like anyone gets any partial treatment. It can be discouraging going into a martial art with no prior experience, but no one is here to judge! The coaches are here to help you improve, and if you put in the effort, the results will show. So if you want to challenge yourself, be part of a community hardworking fighters, and have a fun time doing so, come out to Black House! Sawatdee krap!

By far the best gym for martial arts in the South Bay. I've been attending this gym for almost a year now, and I've really enjoyed being a member here. I started out learning Muay Thai, then eventually doing Jiu Jitsu too. The coaches are both very experienced (and successful professional fighters, at that) who are very intentional about passing down their knowledge and wisdom of martial arts (this is in context of both competition, as well as self defense). One other thing that I appreciate is their openness to beginners. From my experience, I notice that most gyms want already-experienced people for the sake of using them for competition. But the truth is, those types of gyms don't do well in helping beginners. I've seen beginners come in, get good attention, and eventually spar with old-timers with success. It's a testament to the coaches' willingness to invest in people. Coaches Miguel and Gregory are a credit to the gym's success and growth in membership. Lastly, this gym has something that no other gym has: a good wrestling program. Coach Kenny is a wonderful, successful and experienced coach. He's coached UFC fighters to become champions. That should say enough. So in conclusion, I recommend and endorse this gym to anyone wanting to learn Muay Thai, BJJ, and/or wrestling.
